The Belgium international's salary is expected to eclipse Rooney's $3.5million (£2.9m) per-year wages he made when he played for the club between 2018 and 2020. However, the 31-year-old will need a work visa and that process may take at least two weeks. Therefore, DC's match against the Philadelphia Union on August 20 may be the earliest realistic date for the Belgian's debut. BURNLEY are putting Belgium strikers Christian Benteke and Divock Origi on top of their emergency hit list. Boss Sean Dyche plans to spend his £25million Chris Wood windfall on Prem experience and the Clarets are investigating both targets. 1Divock Origi is on the list of replacements Burnley have drawn upCredit: Getty Palace gave Benteke, 31, a new deal and he is a regular starter but he could be available for around £10m. He also took less money to stay with the Eagles and is in the range of what Burnley pay — but there would be a snag if he was asked to take a relegation cut. Benteke was left out of the starting line-up at Brighton on Friday and Palace would spend the cash on a bid for Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah or keep Mainz loanee Jean-Philippe Mateta permanently. Liverpool striker Origi is also in their sights but will take some persuading to swap Anfield for Turf Moor at this stage of his career...
TURKISH giants Galatasaray are reportedly lining up a transfer swoop for Christian Benteke this summer. Fanatik claims the Crystal Palace striker is set to be offered a route abroad when his Selhurst Park deal expires at the end of the season. 1Christian Benteke is being lined up by Galatasaray as his Crystal Palace contract nears its endCredit: AFP Benteke, 30, has been at Palace since 2016 following a £32million move from Liverpool. But despite scoring 17 goals in his first season, the following four have resulted in just 11 strikes. That gives Benteke a total of 28 goals in 138 games for the Eagles. And Roy Hodgson is not looking to renew the hitman’s deal when it trickles out at the end of June. However, Benteke could be set to revive his career in Turkey with Galatasaray. The Super Lig giants apparently tried signing Benteke in January, only for the ace to rebuff their advances. But with his future no longer looking like it will be with Palace, Gala could be at the front of the queue this summer. Current...
WEST BROM boss Sam Allardyce has got the green light from Crystal Palace to close a deal for Christian Benteke. Allardyce is keen on the big Belgian striker despite landing Mbaye Diagne from Galatasaray on loan and is looking into a short-term move with Palace. 2Benteke has scored 26 goals in 130 appearances for PalaceCredit: Pinnacle Photo Agency Benteke, 30, is on around £120,000 a week at Selhurst Park, so even paying HALF his wages is expensive for the Baggies. Benteke has been told his chances of game-time are limited with the Eagles and any new contract would see him earn much less from next season. So Albion looks a better prospect for Benteke as it puts him in the shop window for the summer. Agents are also touting him round Italy and Turkey. Palace would save over £1million in wages which helps them as they prepare for huge changes at the end of the season.  CASINO DEALS: BEST SIGN UP OFFERS TO CLAIM OVER £700 Most read in FootballREADY FOR THE RUMBLECharlotte, Alexa, Mandy & more share sexy...
CRYSTAL PALACE are in the race for Leicester’s out-of-favour winger Demarai Gray. He has only played one Premier League game in a season that has seen Leicester storm into third, two points off the top. Roy Hodgson’s Eagles are looking to sign a handful of players, as many of his squad are set to leave this summer. Gray, 24, would have a better chance of playing with them as they reshape their group. Leicester’s wide man has other interest at home and abroad but Palace are emerging as serious contenders. West Brom are among the clubs interested in the Belgian former Aston Villa striker. But, with Benteke's contract expiring this summer, the Baggies could be convinced to wait until the end of the season, when he becomes a free agent. The 30-year-old striker arrived at Selhurst Park from Liverpool in 2016, costing £32million. But Benteke failed to make an impact, scoring just 26 goals in total. He has, however, four this season, with three of those coming in December. The goal run did not last long, though, with Benteke not scoring in his last four games. It leaves...
CHRISTIAN BENTEKE could have played his final game for Crystal Palace after a red card at the final whistle of Sunday's loss to Aston Villa. The impending three-game ban will see the Belgian miss his side's meeting with Manchester United on Thursday. 1Benteke was dismissed for an incident after the final whistleCredit: Reuters Replays showed Benteke appearing to kick out at Villa defender Ezri Konsa in a coming together after the final whistle. And Martin Atkinson called the striker over to cap a miserable return to his former club with a red card. Benteke squandered a number of opportunities as Palace remained stuck in lower mid-table after the 2-0 defeat. Trezeguet bagged a brace to aid Villa's fight against relegation. The Eagles are set for a drab end to the campaign having lost five in a row before United are welcomed to Selhurst Park on Thursday. However, the Red Devils will not be the only Europe-chasing team to benefit from Benteke's absence with the 29-year-old set to miss the final fixtures against Wolves and Tottenham.
