White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki ripped Texas Governor Greg Abbott over his plan to challenge the right of undocumented immigrants to a free public education, saying “That’s ultra-MAGA right there!” On the heels of the leaked Supreme Court draft opinion that would overturn Roe v. Wade if it takes effect, Gov. Abbott has said he would consider challenging the 1982 Supreme Court decision in Plyler v. Doe, which made it illegal to restrict educational funding on the basis of immigration status. At Thursday’s press briefing, Psaki was asked about Abbott’s comments, and responded by ripping the remarks, and then ticking through a list of rights that could be challenged if Roe falls to include contraception, marriage, sex stuff, and more: Q Hi, Jen. In the wake of the draft Supreme Court decision — MS. PSAKI: Yeah. Q — Texas Governor Abbott indicated that Texas may seek to overturn the 1982 Supreme Court decision that found that states were required to offer free public education to all students, including the children of undocumented immigrants. Does the White House have any response to those...

The Marines broke with centuries-old tradition and ruled that a Sikh soldier can wear a turban and sport an unshorn beard in uniform - but only at duty stations and not while he is deployed or at military ceremonies.   First Lt. Sukhbir Toor wrapped a turban onto his head after pulling on his Combat Utility Uniform last week for the first time since joining the service in 2017, the first Sikh in the branch's 246-year existence to do so. While the Combat Arms Officer feels this is a step in the right direction, he intends to sue the Marines unless he is granted permission to wear his turban and maintain his beard not just on base, but in combat and in his dress blues.  He said that these limitations meant he 'would have to either sacrifice my career or my ability to practice my religion' - thus, he has started the appeals process to remove the limitations.  For the first time on Thursday since joining the service in 2017, First Lieutenant Sukhbir Toor (pictured) wrapped a turban onto his head...
The U.S. Embassy told Americans on Saturday not to go to Kabul airport - which is the only way out of the country - because of 'security threats' outside its gates. The warning was issued less than 24 hours after President Joe Biden said there was 'no indication' that the Taliban was stopping Americans and their allies from reaching the airport and promised to get everyone home.   That was part of Biden's 50-minute speech on Friday, which was the first time in nine days the president answered any questions about the chaos in Afghanistan.  During the speech, he was contradicted by Department of Defense spokesman John Kirby who said he was aware of reports of Americans being beaten by the Taliban as they tried to reach safety.  The point was furthered over the last 12 hours as videos depicting pandemonium and occasional violence outside the airport have surfaced.  Vulnerable Afghans who fear the Taliban's retaliation send desperate pleas not to be left behind.  US soldiers stand guard behind barbed wire as Afghans sit on a roadside near the military...
Usman Garuba, power forward for Real Madrid and now with the National Team at the Tokyo Games, was very aware from the Japanese capital of the NBA draft, which was held at dawn from Thursday to Friday in Spanish time. The 19-year-old from Madrid was chosen 23rd in the first round by the Houston Rockets. They have been their reactions to the news: “The first thing is that I am very happy and grateful to have been drafted. It is a dream. Everyone who knows me knows that it is a dream for me since I was little. I have not been able to sleep much during the night because I was very nervous, but when my name has come out it has relieved me ”. Garuba has felt very supported by his teammates and, now, until the Games are over, he will focus on achieving an Olympic medal with Spain. His wish, then, is the same, play in the NBA now: “I am very grateful to La Familia, which has supported me these days here in Tokyo, and to...
The 'Queen of Versailles' Jackie Siegel reveals there is still 18 months of construction left to go on her 90,000-square-foot Florida mansion, meaning America's largest home is set to finally be completed in 2022 - 18 years after the build first began.  The 54-year-old and her timeshare mogul husband David Siegel, 83, began constructing the 'Versailles' mega-mansion on the shore of Lake Butler in 2004. After the economy crash in 2008, the overdose death of their 18-year-old daughter in 2015 and a house fire in February last year halted construction, Jackie says her dream home is now edging ever-closer to completion. ‘We have a year and a half to go,’ Jackie told NECN in an interview this week. ‘And I’m going to document the whole process in the form of a TV show, which is going to be on next year.’ Jackie said the mansion - which is set to feature nine kitchens, 30 bathrooms, 14 bedrooms, a full-size roller rink, bowling alley and 30-car garage – will be the same size as a ‘super Walmart.’ ‘Everyone knows what a...
Netflix Cheer star Jerry Harris will remain in federal custody after being charged with child pornography because his lawyer said there is no plan yet for where he could go if he was released on bail.  At a federal court hearing in Chicago on Monday, a judge granted a request from the 21-year-old celebrity cheerleader's lawyer to keep him in custody for now. The lawyer asked the judge to postpone any decision on Harris' bond until they had determined a plan for where he could stay if he was released. The judge said that when Harris does have a suitable place to stay, he will then be allowed another hearing to request to be released on bail.  Harris, who was arrested and charged last week for child pornography, dialed into the court hearing via phone.  At a federal court hearing in Chicago on Monday, a judge granted a request from Jerry Harris' lawyer to keep him in custody for now until arrangements can be made so he can request bail Harris' mother Lizzie Bowman died of lung cancer in...

LANGHORNE, Pa. (CBS) – After CBS3 reported on a Sesame Place employee who was brutally attacked Sunday after reminding a couple to wear their masks, the community reacted strongly online. Many say they are horrified anyone could hurt the 17-year-old just doing his job, especially at a theme park for kids. Police say, earlier in the day, the employee reminded a man and woman that they needed to wear masks inside the park. When the couple saw the employee again, police say they both struck him in the face, knocking him to the ground. Security guards chased the pair but they got away. Paramedics rushed the teen to St. Mary’s Medical Center to treat injuries to his jaw and a damaged tooth. His injuries were so serious that he required surgery. The park is closed until Thursday while police are working with authorities in New York to positively identify the couple. One Twitter user said that if the couple disagreed with the mask policy, they should not have gone to the park. “Some high school kid was doing his job...
