NATO has been defeated by Vladimir Putin calling the alliance's bluff over Ukraine, and should be replaced with a smaller coalition of nations prepared to be more offensive, Britain's former army commander said today. General Sir Nick Parker called his suggestion 'controversial,' but pointed to the fact that the 30-member alliance - that includes the US, the UK and several European nations - had been unable to prevent the Russian president's invasion of Ukraine. The former commander of land forces in the British Army said NATO is now in a defensive position, holding the alliance's eastern flank that last expanded in 2004. He told BBC Radio 4's Today Programme that a smaller military alliance would be better suited to 'develop an offensive counter-strategy to Putin.' The day this Wednesday has been one of many regional turbulences in the governments that until now formed the People’s Party and Citizens. It all started early in the morning when PSOE and Cs presented a motion of censure to remove the PP from the Government of Murcia, in which the orange formation is also integrated, and that would leave the popular out of the regional executive after 26 years in the power. Later the Community of Madrid joined, where Isabel Díaz Ayuso declared the Assembly dissolved and called early elections, with the aim of avoiding a motion of censure like the Murcian one. Meanwhile, there is two executives who keep the type: that of Andalusia and that of Castilla y León. The situation in Andalusia is far from that of Murcia or Madrid for various reasons. In the first place, the Andalusian community has already approved the Budget for this fiscal year, which was released at the end of last year, in fact becoming the first region in Spain to approve the first accounts of the recovery from the...

It is very important to continue insisting to the public that We cannot relax nor is it time for mass concentrations or demonstrations that they do not keep a safe distance and do not allow to reduce contagions, “said the Government spokeswoman, Maria Jesus Montero, at the end of the Council of Ministers,...

Víctor Ruiz de AlmirónFOLLOWMadrid Updated: 09/07/2020 10:34 AM Save Related news The President of the Government discounts the approval of General State Budgets (PGE) and it aspires to do so by achieving beyond the 176 seats granted by an absolute majority. To this end, it aims to consolidate its new understanding with Ciudadanos and make it compatible with ERC and with the four PDECat deputies. Sánchez considers “Unimaginable” not to carry out the PGE this year, appealing at all times to “look beyond what are ideological blocks” to achieve a transversal agreement. Consolidating the new relationship with Ciudadanos little by little, Sánchez does not want to close doors and tries not to rule out the path of Catalan independence. This morning, in an interview in “La hora de La 1”, he assured that he also will contact the four PDECat parliamentarians if the split with Junts per Catalunya is consummated. In that spirit, and to also maintain the appeals to ERC, the president has confirmed that this week he will call the president of...
Lakhwant Singh (Courtesy: Sikh Coalition)  Sikh community members in Colorado and around the country are calling for hate crime charges in Jefferson County, two months after a Lakewood store owner was run over by a driver and told to “go back to your country” during a brutal assault that left the man hospitalized for months. On Tuesday, 29 civil rights organizations and interfaith groups signed a letter, urging First Judicial District Attorney Pete Weir investigate the April 29 assault on Lakhwant Singh as a hate crime. “For us to be even able to address hate as community, that hate first has to be acknowledged,” said Nikki Singh, the Sikh Coalition’s policy and advocacy manager. “Not only will we hopefully get justice for Singh, but it sends a much larger message that hate is wrong. It doesn’t just affect one community, it affects lots of communities.” Around 11 p.m. that day, Eric Breemen, 36, walked into Two Angels liquor store in Lakewood and started knocking over items on the shelf, Lakhwant Singh’s wife told investigators, according to an arrest affidavit.
