Both former White House Director of Strategic Communications Alyssa Farah Griffin and political commentator Ana Navarro were announced Thursday as new additions to the team on The View. "I guess it's safe to say it's ending right now," co-host Whoopi Goldberg said unenthusiastically about the search for a new co-host. She then introduced Farah. Farah fawned over her new co-hosts and explained how honored she was to be a part of the program. The View apologized Wednesday for claiming there were "neo-Nazis" inside of a recent youth conservative summit in Florida after being hit with a cease-and-desist. "We apologize for anything we said that may have been unclear on these points," co-host Sara Haines said during the broadcast. TURNING POINT USA ISSUES CEASE-AND-DESIST OVER THE VIEW'S 'DEFAMATORY STATEMENTS' "On Monday, we talked about the fact that there were openly neo-Nazi demonstrators outside the Student Action Summit of the Turning Point USA group. We want to make clear these demonstrators were gathered outside the event and that they were not invited or endorsed by Turning Point USA," she explained. "A Turning Point USA spokesman said the group '100% condemns those ideologies' and said Turning Point USA security tried to remove the neo-Nazis from the area but could not because they were on public property," she continued. "Also, Turning Point USA wanted us to clarify this was a Turning Point USA summit and not a Republican Party event." The organization is not satisfied with the apology, however. "Whoopi...

The J Pod passes below the Lime Kiln Lighthouse on San Juan Island, Washington, on Tuesday. The resident killer whale aficionados (aka orca dorks) who live in the San Juan Islands in Washington state are always excited when the best-known of the endangered Southern Resident families, J Pod, makes at least a salutary springtime visit to the Salish Sea, its traditional summertime hunting grounds. But ever since the large population losses of 2016 onward—immortalized by the globally infamous story of the orca mother who mourned her lost calf for 17 days in 2018—both their arrival, as well as the lingering absences that underscore what a loss their absence has become, have been shadowed by ongoing concerns for their survival. Nonetheless, when J Pod made its first “official” visit to San Juan Island on Tuesday evening, the excitement and joy was so palpable that those concerns, at least for the time being, evaporated. My friend Erin Corra, who runs the Friends of Lime Kiln Society that helps run the famous lighthouse on the island’s west side, ran up the lighthouse stairs to snag video...
(CNN)May's full moon will have stargazers seeing red. The moon will glow a scarlet color during this year's first total lunar eclipse on Sunday -- a stark contrast to its ordinarily milky white sheen.A partial eclipse will begin at 10:27 p.m. ET Sunday, with the total lunar eclipse starting at 11:29 p.m. ET, according to EarthSky. The total eclipse will end at 12:53 a.m. ET Monday, and the partial eclipse will end at 1:55 a.m. ET Monday, the site said. A lunar eclipse occurs when the moon, Earth and sun fall into alignment, with the moon passing through Earth's shadow, according to NASA. When the moon passes through the darkest part of the Earth's shadow, called the umbra, it's known as a total lunar eclipse, the space agency said. 1st image of supermassive black hole at the center of Milky Way galaxy revealedWhen the sun's rays reach the Earth, much of the blue and green light is scattered, while the orange and red colors remain visible, which is why the moon turns a reddish hue and is often referred to...
Rich Strike’s remarkable 80-1 upset to win the 148th Kentucky Derby on Saturday still has the sports world buzzing on the morning after. And the view from one particular camera angle underscores the miraculousness of his run down the Churchill Downs homestretch. Overhead footage released by NBC shows Rich Strike in 16th place as the field of 20 rounded the final turn and hit the top of the stretch — more than 10 lengths off the lead. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) called on Democrats to channel their outrage regarding the supposed majority vote from the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade toward elections. "This is the day to get in the fight, so that come November, we have enough people in office who will protect the right of a woman to choose," Warren said on Friday on the View. The View hosts called former President Donald Trump’s bluff, predicting he will, in fact, return to Twitter now that Elon Musk has purchased the social media platform. Following the announcement that Musk bought Twitter for around $44 billion, Trump said he would only post on his social media platform, Truth Social, even if he were allowed to return to Twitter. “I think Trump is going to come back to Twitter,” guest host Amber Ruffin said, chuckling. “It’s going to be horrible but also very hilarious. We forget how hilarious Trump is.” Ruffin gave the example of Trump labeling Putin’s threat of nuclear war as the “n-word” during his recent Fox Nation interview with Piers Morgan, noting that Putin should not “use the nuclear word ever again.” WATCH: PIERS MORGAN SAYS TRUMP INTERVIEW EDIT WAS ‘EXCITING,’ HOW TRUMP ‘WOULD’VE DONE IT’ “Oh my god. On Wednesday's episode of The View, the hosts began by attributing the recent subway shooting that left 10 victims injured to guns, largely blaming Republicans and dismissing claims of soft-on-crime policies being the culprit. The group of women agreed that "no one needs an AR-15"— even self-proclaimed conservative former White House Communications Director Alyssa Farah Griffin, a guest co-host on the show. When asked by Sunny Hostin if she agreed and would concede that no one "needs" the weapon, Griffin said, "So, yes." After reiterating her agreement, she added, "Though I think it’s often misrepresented" what an AR-15 is. She further said that sometimes "because a gun looks scary, there’s this notion that it’s a higher-caliber weapon." Julia Haart, also a guest co-host, said, "You look at the U.K., there’s almost no gun violence. You look at New Zealand. You look at Australia. When you take away guns, you take away gun violence," to audible agreement from both Hostin and host Joy Behar. BORDER PATROL STOPS RELEASING MIGRANTS TO TOWN THAT CALLED...
Hosts on The View got into an ideological shouting match Wednesday about President Joe Biden's unsuccessful efforts to pass a budget via the Build Back Better bill. Guest host Tara Setmayer appeared for her second time and got the brunt of the shouting as the lone conservative. Setmayer is notably anti-Donald Trump, calling herself a "principled conservative" instead. "What Biden said was, 'I can get [Sen. Joe] Manchin’s vote,'" host Sunny Hostin said, lamenting that the West Virginia senator ultimately reneged. "What Build Back Better, that framework included things like childcare, universal preschool, paid family and medical leave." WATCH: REP SCALISE ON BIDEN: 'NOBODY KNOWS WHAT HE MEANS' "They couldn’t pay for [it]," Setmayer interjected. "They can pay for it," Hostin said. "They cannot," Setmayer repeated. "This country has money for everything except for poor people." "It sounds great in a sound bite, but...
Joy Behar, a co-host of ABC’s “The View,” fell on stage while attempting to sit on a swivel chair as the show opened on Thursday morning. The other co-hosts, Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines and Sony Hostin, rushed to help Behar get up off the floor. Goldberg said, “Come on, just stop, just stand.” Hostin said, “Let me tell you, these chairs are dangerous.” Goldberg said, “These chairs move, and you touch it, and you’re on the ground.” Hosting added, “These chairs are terrible. It’s happened to all of us at one time or another.” Behar said, “Twenty-five years, that has never happened. Who do I sue? Who do I sue?” She added, “My husband is at home laughing now, I bet.” An audience member screamed out, “We love you, Joy.” Behar joked, “Dead or alive.” Goldberg said, “Always alive, baby. ” Behar said, “Oh my God. "It's not always as other people would like to hear," Goldberg said upon her return. She added it is important to have these conversations because "they're important to us as a nation." She avoided the word race, instead saying the conversations are also important for us as a "human entity." "It's not about race," Goldberg said of the Holocaust on the Jan. 31 show. Hosts discussed a recent report that former President Donald Trump allegedly flushed documents down the toilet, clogging them, on Thursday's episode of The View. Host Joy Behar began the segment with a question for guest host Alyssa Farah, who served as the director of communications in the Trump administration. "Now Alyssa, you worked in Trump's White House," Behar said. "Have you ever seen his bathroom, No. 1? Did you see him flush anything down that toilet?" "Thank heavens, I never saw his bathroom. I did not see him flush anything," Farah responded between giggles. "There had been some previous reporting, though, about him tearing up documents, and then, the staff secretary who oversees archiving would have to go back and piece it together. That I did see. That was common." Farah then questioned what those documents could possibly contain to elicit such a reaction from the former president. The claim was made in the book Confidence Man by the New York Times's White House correspondent Maggie Haberman. An excerpt of the book alleges that...
Jennifer Lopez was forced to detail her eating habits on The View following a strange question from Ana Navarro.  “We’re two years into the – pandemic. Some of us have gained weight — some of us have not. I look at these pictures of you, I’m thinking, okay. I want to know, do you ever eat un pastelitos de guayaba?” Navarro asked Lopez on Wednesday, referring to a Cuban pastry made with guava and cream cheese. Lopez admitted that even she is “a bit puzzled” by her physique because she does eat, attributing her body to “happiness.” “I do eat. I do,” she insisted, adding, “First of all, I eat everything.” She went on to note that she has been training for an upcoming film called The Mother, explaining that she did not eat carbs, which caused her to get “leaned out.” The Hustlers star continued to prove that she does eat despite being thin, sharing that even while training for The Mother, she would have “a cookie at night, or two.” “The truth is, I feel like it’s about consistency. This curious cat is 'living the dream' after his owner splashed out $2,500 (£1,800) transforming a fish tank into the perfect underwater viewing chamber for him. Melissa Krieger, 53, forked out the money so her Siamese cat Jasper can enjoy being up close to the exotic fish - which he now sits watching and claws at every day. The View mocked the Defeat the Mandates march that took place on the National Mall in Washington on Sunday, saying its speakers and premise were misinformed. People from across the country gathered at the Washington Monument and walked to the Lincoln Memorial to participate in the march, which was part of an international demonstration against COVID-19-related restrictions. Among those who spoke was Children’s Health Defense founder Robert F. Kennedy Jr. The show's co-hosts criticized Kennedy for comparing present-day mandates to the Nazi oppression of Jews and claiming that mandates are stripping people of their rights. “Even in Hitler's Germany, you could cross the Alps into Switzerland,” Kennedy said. “You could hide in an attic like Anne Frank did. I visited in 1962 — East Germany — with my father and met people who had climbed the wall and escaped. So it was possible. Many people died doing it, but it was possible. Today, the mechanisms are being put in place that will make it so none of us can run, none of us...
The View co-hosts were back in studio for the first time in weeks due to COVID-19 precautions and took the opportunity to blast the unvaccinated and newly sworn-in Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin for his repeal of a state mask mandate in schools, all while they admitted that vaccinations and masks do not stop people from getting the omicron variant. The show, taped without an audience or a guest co-host, opened with the co-hosts discussing how they felt nervous and odd to be back together at the table. “It is a little freaky,” co-host Whoopi Goldberg said. Co-host Joy Behar added, “I feel a little uncomfortable being in the world right now with all the craziness that’s going on.” The View co-hosts quickly pounced on the surge of omicron cases and did not hold back from calling the unvaccinated selfish while still acknowledging people’s right to choose. “Of course, parents should make, you know, every decision about the well-being of their children, but not when it impacts the well-being of other children,” co-host...

Ana Navarro railed against former President Donald Trump and the Republican Party as it pertains to the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, which critics like herself blamed on Trump’s lie that he won the 2020 election, and the aftermath – all while The View guest co-host said that Trump was illegitimately elected in 2016. “There’s things which I think should transcend partisanship and should transcend politics, and a breach of the U.S. Capitol, an attack on our democratic principles and institutions should be one of those things, and I really blame Republicans at the top for capitulating to Trump,” said Navarro during The View on Tuesday, which has gone back to the hosts being remote amid the Omicron variant of the coronavirus. “I blame Trump for continuing this environment of lies and conspiracy theories and not accepting that he lost, and encouraging and promoting what happened, the Big Lie and what happened on Jan. 6,” she continued. “He bears responsibility, and it’s not just me saying this.” Navarro then quoted House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy condemning Trump’s role...
Gal Gadot’s new movie “Death on the Nile” looks great. Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) this week asked a Biden judicial nominee the same question not once, not twice, not six, not eight, but nine times. During a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Wednesday, Kennedy repeatedly asked law professor Anne Traum, a nominee for the U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada, over the span of just over five minutes whether criminal acts should be forgiven “in the name of social justice.” Traum’s first answer was “I recognize that all issues of crime and all responses to crime are fundamentally policy issues. So those are important issues. They’re important for our community and our nation. But I leave those policy issues to policymakers. If confirmed as a judge, I would not be a policmaker.” After Kennedy asked the question for the second time, Traum replied, “I do believe that all criminal policy is a fundamentally a policy issue.” Following Kennedy asking the question for the third time, Traum said, “That is not a view that I have taken in my work.” “So that’s no,” interjected Kennedy. “Is your...
The View co-hosts blasted Republicans for being those not fully vaccinated and the reason the United States is still dealing with the pandemic. “This notion of personal freedom seems to be trumping, you know, the public health of our fellow citizens,” co-host Sunny Hostin said. Meanwhile, co-host Whoopi Goldberg, who had announced on the show that she had received her booster shot, was out for the second day in a row due to a COVID-19 scare. Co-host Joy Behar told the audience on Wednesday that Goldberg had been exposed to someone who tested positive. The co-hosts blamed the unvaccinated despite recent data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that show the omicron variant is most prevalent in those who are fully vaccinated. “If they haven’t gotten it, they’re not going to get by what people are saying. The View wound up getting hugely sidetracked when Joy Behar botched her stats on how many Americans died of the coronavirus under former President Donald Trump’s watch. The tailspin happened on Tuesday while the panel was talking about the newly-revealed text messages of Mark Meadows. As the former White House chief of staff was being charged with contempt of Congress for refusing to cooperate with investigations into January 6th, Congresswoman Liz Cheney (R) read out text messages showing how Trump’s allies and media boosters were begging for him to put an end to the storming of the U.S. Capitol. The texts sparked widespread conversations about how Trump’s Fox News allies knew January 6th was a catastrophe, but they’ve tried to minimize the riot and deny Trump’s culpability for it ever since. As The View talked about all of this, Behar mocked the text where Laura Ingraham texted Meadows “the President needs to tell people in the Capitol to go Home. This is hurting all of us. He is destroying his legacy.” “Is she a comedian or what?” Behar scoffed. “‘You’ll...

Give it a watch below. Generally speaking, I’m not sure I’d love the idea of a sequel for a film franchise that has been in the past for a long time, especially after the disastrous last “Ghostbusters” film with the mostly female cast. Do we all remember that? Do we all remember how absolutely awful it was? Nobody wants to see a mistake like that happen twice.   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by Ghostbusters (@ghostbusters) However, I think “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” looks pretty interesting and the...

Navarro told Anderson Cooper she’s “feeling great” and described what ensued as “like an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm.” She explained how often she gets tested and what the procedures are at the daytime talk show. Cooper played the video of her and Hostin having to leave the stage, and Navarro explained they learned about the tests while on air. Navarro said she went backstage and had no contact with Vice President Kamala Harris. She commended the VP’s team for figuring out a way to do the interview safely. She made a point of saying the first test may have been a false positive (she’s since tested negative and is awaiting the results of another test.) You can watch above, via CNN.
