A 1988 article by the Miami Herald found that the system lowered cashier costs by about 66%. But stores are still paying a price as shoppers using self-checkout steal items - even if they don't intend to do so. That's why many stores have added weight sensors to their self-checkout stations. "I went to take them out and put them in the garden. "As I looked up, I saw this sparkly thing." He initially believed the object would have a mundane and easily-explained origin. "I thought at first that it was a balloon," he said. Most...
CNN’s Don Lemon reacted solemnly yet forcefully to Saturday’s mass shooting in Buffalo, where police say a White gunman murdered 10 people at a grocery story. The suspect had posted a lengthy and racist tract online in which he espoused the “great replacement,” which is a conspiracy theory claiming that White Americans are purposely being “replaced” by non-Whites, especially immigrants from developing countries. The idea has been floated by some conservative politicians and pundits, including Fox News’ Tucker Carlson, who has discussed it in multiple shows. The Fox News host discussed the media’s reaction to the shooting on Monday, but he did not address replacement theory. Lemon said these figures and the alleged gunman are on the same page. “Let’s just say he wasn’t influenced by certain people,” Lemon stated. “Boy, they sure are humming the same tune in unison.” He aired a montage featuring Reps. Brian Babin (R-TX), Scott Perry (R-PA), Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI), and Carlson all advancing the idea that the current American electorate is being replaced or remade by new voters. Lemon reiterated his earlier point....

"I wanted it to be in that placement, that many flowers," Brooke said. She also asked for her artist to add fewer veins to the flowers than the blossoms on her main inspiration....
A receptionist has quit fast food after discovering a McDonald's cheeseburger she kept for five years looked as fresh as the day she bought it. Megan Condry, from Washington DC, claims she purchased two cheeseburgers and some fries from a drive thru in November 2017 but, after finishing off one burger, she threw the other in the back of her car and planned to eat it later. The 41-year-old says when she found the burger five days later she realised it has not yet started to rot. She decided to carry out an 'experiment' to see how long it would last unaltered and left the burger untouched in the back of her wardrobe until last month. While sorting out Christmas decorations, she came across it and, despite it being 'rock hard', Megan said it still looks the same as the day she bought it. The bun, beef patty and cheese remain intact with no sign of mould or rot having taken hold. McDonald's said they only use 100 per cent USDA inspected beef and that there are 'no preservatives or fillers' in...
CHRISTMAS is a stressful time for many - with presents to buy, food to put on the table and decorations to kit out the house, it’s a tough time for all of our purses. And for those with young children, babies in particular, the thought of spending hundreds of pounds on toys is pretty daunting. 2One mum has encouraged those that are worried about money this year to remember the types of things your child often play withCredit: tiktok @killinitsince86 But one mum has got people talking on TikTok after sharing her reminder for parents this Christmas.  Laurie Cepkauskas told parents not to worry too much about Christmas presents for babies this year, because they’ll only want to play with items you have in the house already, such as a TV remote or a pack of baby wipes.  As much as we all want to make our baby’s first Christmas one to remember with piles of toys and gifts, Laurie has proved that you don’t need to spend a penny to make your baby happy this festive season.  Laurie shared...
Vaping damages people's DNA in the same way as smoking normal cigarettes — but to a lesser degree — a study warned today. These biological changes can cause diseases such as cancer, according to the University of Southern California study. Vaping has been viewed as a safer alternative to smoking, with the UK mulling plans to prescribe e-cigarettes to cigarette users to help them quit.  There have been several studies that suggests e-cigarettes are harmful, but many questioned whether smoking was still to blame since most vapers also smoke traditional cigarettes or have a prior history of smoking. But a team of researchers at the University of Southern California found that these biological changes happen even in vapers who've never touched a cigarette. However, the changes are much more extensive in people who smoke tobacco products, the scientists said. Laws restricting what manufacturers are allowed to put in vapes are stricter in the UK than the US, so the American study may not entirely reflect effects of E-cigarettes available on the British market. The study looked at 82 healthy adults split them into three...
Since its invention, and even its etymological origin stipulates it, the football It is a sport that is played mainly with the feet but also with other parts of the body except arms and handsexcept for the doorman. This basic rule has been complicated to such an extent that, today, not always touching the ball with the hand is synonymous with an infringement. The broad concept of willfulness has evolved to that of the ‘naturalness’ or ‘unnaturalness’ hand in hand, which causes the same action to be whistled as a fault and at the same time not to be and in both cases be correct according to the criteria of the referee. If this element already enters a factor of subjectivity impossible to measure clearly, the addition of VAR (which is nothing more than a series of repetitions seen over and over again by another referee) does not always suppose a fairer consensus in the decision. This is what happened in the derby between Real Madrid Y Athletic, in the already Felipe’s famous hand in a corner that prevented Casemiro...
So where on earth did 2020 go? Well, for the vast majority of us we have only to look at the girth of our midriff to answer that question. This, after all, was the year of the box-set, the couch and the family-sized bag of crisps we had no intention of sharing.  Not for Halle Berry, however. While the world retreated indoors to bake banana bread and slouch around in elasticated waists, the 54-year-old Oscar-winner has spent the past nine months skipping, boxing, hanging from dangerous-looking contraptions... and never missing an opportunity to show off the results of her hard work — that amazing body — to her 6.7 million followers on Instagram. Cooking with hemp might not be as alluring as making weed edibles, but it's much more healthy and sustainable in the long term. And as government restrictions loosen and public knowledge of hemp grows, so does the plant's nutritious legend. Rich in protein, fiber and good fats, hemp is quickly becoming a regular part of plant-based dishes and diets, and has even gained the annoying "superfood" moniker. But how are we supposed to eat it? Shadi Ramey found herself wondering the same thing five years ago. Already a chef for a decade by 2015, she knew how to infuse food with cannabis (she still teaches private cannabis cooking classes), but incorporating hemp into a healthy diet was entirely different. After immersing herself in hemp cooking and even growing the plant for herself, the Boulder-based Ramey has developed a full set of recipes featuring hemp seeds, hearts, oil and protein, among other hemp-based ingredients. Her favorite meals at the moment? Hemp heart tabbouleh, hemp-mushroom chili and hemp-crusted mushroom tacos. You'll soon be able to cook Ramey's favorites and more hemp eats...
