An Elmwood Park doctor admitted buying discounted prescription drugs used to treat cancer and other diseases so they could be resold for tens of millions of dollars on the black market, federal authorities said. Jon-Paul Dadaian, 53, a board-certified anesthesiologist and pain management specialist from Manhattan, used his medical license to buy the oncology medications under false pretenses "for the purpose of selling them for profit," U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger said. He let others use his license, as well, Sellinger said. All for $130,500, he said. Dadaian was paid by two unidentified conspirators who owned and operated two wholesale prescription drug distribution companies, the U.S. attorney said. In exchange, he bought expensive prescription drugs, "primarily cold-chain biologic infusion medications that typically are used to treat cancers, macular degeneration, and autoimmune diseases," he said. The distributors -- who wouldn't have been able to buy the drugs legally -- benefitted from discounted community physician pricing that Dadaian paid for them, Sellinger said. They then turned around and sold the drugs for a considerable profit, he said. "The scheme ran from June...

A “mega-million dollar fight” was on the table, however a recent fight result has derailed it, according to UFC president Dana White. UFC 269 took place on December 11, 2021, and in the co-main event, consensus women’s MMA GOAT Amanda Nunes was defeated by Julianna Pena. Pena hurt “The Lioness” on the feet during the second round and then caught the two-division UFC champion with a rear-naked choke, taking Nunes’ 135-pound title. The “Looking Glass” ponders economic and real estate trends through two distinct lenses: the optimist’s “glass half-full” and the pessimist’s “glass half-empty.” Buzz: Rampant housing inflation means the federal government will now back almost million-dollar mortgages — including deals in Los Angeles and Orange counties. Backdrop: The Federal Housing Finance Agency says the maximum size of mortgages that can be bought by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac in 2022 will rise by 18% — the largest percentage ever — to $970,800. Those two government-backed agencies back so-called “conforming” mortgages, both loans for purchases and refinancings. Those subsidies usually lower the interest rate borrowers pay compared with what’s charged on larger “jumbo” loans. Glass half-full The increased allowances for the two agencies are the result of a mandatory annual review that involves a complex price-index formula. This allows government-backed mortgage buying to keep pace with market pricing, especially by geography. The key factor is the Federal Housing Finance Agency’s home price index that jumped by 18% in the past year. That means the nation’s most expensive markets are getting a higher  “conforming”...

Now this is a party boat. Rolls-Royce has unveiled a yacht-inspired roadster that it will only make three distinct examples of, each rumored to be worth over $10 million. The Boat Tail is built on the platform as Rolls-Royce's other models, which seem like bargains under $500,000, but features custom coachwork that took four years to design and execute. From fenders inspired by a ship's hull to a long, tapering tail topped with wood and stainless steel decking, it looks as much like a Riva motorboat as it does a luxury car. The Rolls-Royce Boat Tail (Rolls-Royce) The most unusual feature on the example revealed by Rolls-Royce is hidden under the deck, which mechanically opens butterfly style to reveal a crystal, porcelain and silver lunch service with champagne refrigerator and cocktail tables that swivel out. The owner can also deploy a parasol that emerges from the center of the car. There's room onboard for two fitted folding stools and a couple of small bags, but not for large luggage or even a proper roof. It comes with a fabric...

Ignite, which plays against teams on the NBA's minor league circuit, offers six-figure annual salaries and a college education for top prospects who want to bypass the NCAA's strict rules on compensation.  Henderson's contract, which is the first signed by an underclassman in the Ignite team's brief history, is worth $1 million over the next two years, according to The Athletic's Shams Charania. A G-League spokesperson could not confirm the details on Henderson's deal. Meanwhile, twin brothers Matt and Ryan Bewley signed Friday with Overtime Elite (OTE), another league that markets itself to elite players between 16- and 18-years-old with promises of an academic education and a six-figure annual...

Joe Douglas is scheduled to speak with reporters on Tuesday via Zoom, a rare public appearance from his Florham Park cocoon. The last time we heard from the Jets general manager was just before this season began when he spoke about how insulted the team was at the blatant disrespect it was encountering from prognosticators. “Our guys don’t live in a bubble, we see the things that are said, we see the things that are written,” Douglas said in early September. “It angers a lot of people.” Two months, eight losses and zero wins later, you have to wonder where Douglas’ anger lies now with the team he saw go 7-9 a year ago now spiraling at 0-8 after he spent his first full offseason with the club reconstructing the roster. And now, in a twist that fits perfectly with the mayhem that 2020 has delivered to date, the Jets’ next opponent, the reeling 2-5 Patriots, represent perhaps their best chance at winning a game, their best chance to avoid going 0-16. This raises a Tuesday question for Douglas,...

Steve Bannon joked about We Build The Wall founder Brian Kolfage stealing money from the fund and boasted about the triple amputee veteran's 'million-dollar yacht' in a video shot one year before the two men were arrested over the alleged massive fraud scheme.  Bannon, Kolfage and two others - Timothy Shea and Andrew Badolato - were charged this week with conning donors out of hundreds of thousands of dollars to pay to build a section of border wall. The funds were allegedly stolen from the We Build The Wall GoFundMe account and used to fund their lavish lifestyles. Bannon, Donald Trump's former aide and one of the key players in the president's 2016 White House campaign, was arrested Thursday when investigators swooped on a 150-foot yacht off the coast of Connecticut and charged him with pilfering $1 million from the scheme, some of which he kept for himself. Two lawyers accused of carrying out a Molotov cocktail attack on a cop car in Brooklyn might not have to worry about burning through all their savings. According to authorities, on the night of May 29, while a Black Lives Matter protest raged through Downtown and Central Brooklyn, attorney Urooj Rahman—a keffiyeh drawn over the lower half of her face—set fire to a rag jammed in a Bud Lite bottle full of gasoline. She allegedly then tossed it through the already-shattered window of an empty police vehicle in the neighborhood of Fort Greene. She jumped into a minivan piloted by and belonging to her friend and fellow lawyer Colinford Mattis, who police say tried to drive off with the raw materials of more Molotov cocktails in the backseat. The NYPD intercepted them a short distance away. The improvised explosive failed to fully alight, and only seared the cruiser’s console. Nobody got hurt. But the two face heavy sentences of up to 45 years or even life in prison if convicted, thanks to prosecutors in the Eastern District of New York...
