The bombshell DailyMail.com story about a top Trump White House aide abusing his wife 'dominated' the White House for nearly two weeks in 2018, Jared Kushner reveals in his memoir. The exclusive DailyMail.com report about Rob Porter, the former White House staff secretary, attacking ex-wife Jennifer Willoughby caused panic for 10 days, Trump's son-in-law writes in the upcoming book.  Willoughby told DailyMail.com that their marriage was 'very toxic,' detailing how he 'pulled me, naked and dripping from the shower, to yell at me.'  Porter allegedly screamed at Willoughby and called her a 'b***h' and a 'liar,' and a year after marrying him she took out a protective order to stop the abuse. In excerpts of Kushner's memoir obtained by DailyMail.com, he writes that the story caused headaches throughout the White House as Porter was operating on a temporary security clearance and the abuse history should have come up in his background screening. In Breaking History: A White House Memoir, which will be released next month, Kushner also claims that Trump's former Chief of Staff John Kelly once pushed his wife...

Jordin Tootoo is the third member of Canada’s 2003 men’s world junior hockey team to deny any involvement in an alleged group sexual assault. Tootoo, who was a member of the silver-medal winning team and played in the NHL for several seasons with Nashville, Detroit, New Jersey and Chicago, issued a statement Saturday calling for a full investigation into the “disturbing allegations.” “I don’t recall knowing or hearing about the incident in question during or after the tournament,” Tootoo wrote on Twitter. “I was shocked when I heard about it in the media and will cooperate fully with any investigation.” Regional police in Halifax, Nova Scotia, have opened an investigation into the incident that allegedly happened when the city hosted the international tournament 19 years ago. Hockey Canada said it learned about the alleged sexual assault on Thursday and immediately informed Sport Canada and Halifax police of the allegations. Carlo Colaiacovo and P-A Parenteau, who were Tootoo’s teammates on the 2003 national junior team and also played in the NHL, issued statements Friday saying they were not involved in the...
CLEVELAND (AP) — Deshaun Watson reported to his first training camp with the Browns on Friday still not knowing how long he’ll be their starting quarterback. Like one of his passes, Watson’s future remains up in the air. As he awaits word on whether he’ll be suspended by the NFL for off-field behavior, the three-time Pro Bowler arrived at Cleveland’s training facility in Berea along with the team’s other QBs and rookies. Watson was scheduled to undergo a physical followed by meetings. The 26-year-old is facing a likely league suspension for violating its personal conduct policy following allegations by two dozen massage therapists in Texas that he was sexually inappropriate with them during sessions while he played for Houston. Watson’s fate is being decided by league disciplinary officer Sue L. Robinson, a retired federal judge in Delaware who has spent the past few weeks reviewing his case following a hearing and briefs submitted by the quarterback’s legal team, the NFL Players Association and league. The NFL pushed for an indefinite suspension for Watson, who was never criminally charged and...
Russian soldiers are being put 'on a direct path to a body bag,' a military analyst has said, with one soldier claiming he was given just five days of training before being sent to fight on the frontlines in Ukraine. The soldier, named only as Ivan to protect his identity, said in some cases his comrades were being shipped off to fight without even knowing how to use a machine gun, according to The Moscow Times. The report is the latest sign of Russia's increasing desperation to crush Ukraine's fierce resistance that has taken the Kremlin by surprise, with some estimates suggesting President Vladimir Putin has seen more than 30,000 of his troops killed. When the invasion began on February 24, Moscow brazenly believed its forces would sweep to victory and depose Kyiv's government in a matter of days. Instead, Russia has been dragged into a protracted and costly conflict, with no end in sight. Independent military analyst Pavel Luzin offered a damning assessment of Russia's military when told of Ivan's claim that he was given less than a week of...
(CNN)Going anywhere fun this summer? Hmm, well, with all these travel disruptions, that was the idea, anyway. Having lost out on traveling farther afield for much of the last two years, many of us assumed we'd finally have the summer we'd been waiting for. The federal mask mandate ended in April. Many international borders reopened with few restrictions. Travel -- before new subvariants emerged on the scene, at least -- seemed relatively safe again, given immunity to Covid-19 through vaccines, prior infection or both. Europe, here we come! And yet, as anyone who's traveled -- or attempted to -- in recent months can attest, it's not been an easy ride. Consumer interest in air travel has reached pre-pandemic levels for the first time in two years, and airlines and airports have scrambled to keep up. A labor shortage and high incidences of workers calling in sick have created problems both in the air and on the ground. There are fewer pilots, flight attendants, service desk workers, security agents, technicians and other support staff than before 2020, but just as many travelers....
Brandon Bell/Getty Images Former Clinton and Obama senior adviser John Podesta declared that West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin has “single-handedly doomed humanity” by blocking climate change legislation from being included in the Democrats’ reconciliation bill. Manchin has frequently bucked his party on major issues, so Friday figures to be another long day of the senator ignoring his critics after news broke that he won’t go along with climate and tax provisions that President Joe Biden and the Democrats have been pushing to include in a reconciliation package that can pass with a simple majority in the Senate. The Washington Post reported that Manchin told Democrats “he would not support an economic package that contains new spending on climate change or includes new tax increases targeting wealthy Americans or corporations,” but that he would support prescription drug and health care subsidy provisions. The news sparked a flood of frustrated quotes from Democrats venting at Manchin, perhaps none more brutal than Podesta’s, to The New York Times: “It seems odd that Manchin would chose as his legacy to be the one man...
Most of us know what our star sign is - and many will regularly read up on the impact this has on our lives. But why is it a good idea to know this, and how can knowing your sign help you in your day-to-day life? 1Astrology helps to explain different personality types and tendenciesCredit: Getty What is the purpose of astrology? Astrology is on the rise, especially among millennials. One of the reasons for astrology's growing popularity is that it helps to explain the existence of different personality types and tendencies. Knowing your sign can help you understand why you get emotional so easily (looking at you, Cancer), or why boredom is the worst punishment imaginable to you (Gemini, anyone?). Or maybe you feel you’re in your natural element when you’re organising the clothes in your wardrobe by colour (quite a Virgo thing to do!). Knowing someone else’s sign can also help explain why another person grates on your nerves, or why you click like you’ve known each other for a million years: it’s simply written in...
Not the first one The gender-affirming closet concept is not exclusive to Rock Bridge High School; similar projects have been springing up at schools around the country. A Daily Caller video about the issue includes a clip of an apparent California teacher saying "the goal of the transition closet is for our students to wear the clothes that their parents approve of, come to school, and then swap out into the clothes that fit who they truly are." The teacher adds that "I use the idea that this is like Superman changing in a phone booth. But that idea actually goes a lot further than that. Because Superman isn't Clark Kent; Clark Kent is actually the disguise. And when Clark Kent goes into the phone booth, he transforms into Superman, who is really just who he truly is, Kal-El. And so this gives our trans students the opportunity to be the superheroes that we know they are." Teacher Says He's Bringing 'Transition Closet' To High School Classroom youtu.be
THERE is still time to cash in on a refund worth up to thousands of dollars. It is part of a $147million agreement between Western Union and the federal government but the deadline to apply is in August. 1Western Union is part of a $147million settlement and eligible consumers can receive a refund The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) said refund checks worth up to $147million will be going out to nearly 33,000 people who sent money to scammers through Western Union wire transfers. The Sun spoke with a law professor who explained the significance of receiving a refund from this type of case. Ryan Sullivan, a clinical associate professor at Nebraska College of Law, told The Sun: "Anytime you have a government agency or Attorney General involved and they found there is good cause to pursue a claim, you know it's been thoroughly vetted." The settlement between Western Union and the FTC and Department of Justice (DOJ) dates back to actions between 2004 and 2017. CLASSIC lullabies have fallen out of fashion with millennial mums and dads with half not knowing the words to Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. The lyrics of traditional bedtime songs may be fading from memory as a new study shows young parents are forgoing these timeless tunes. MAM 1 Izzy and Harry Judd of McFly say that bedtime is still a musical moment in their house The study, conducted by baby product manufacturer MAM, showed that many young parents in the UK don’t use lullabies to help their babies sleep. Almost half of those polled sheepishly revealed that they couldn’t recite all the lyrics to Baa Baa Blacksheep, while another 49 per cent said they were lost at sea when it came to the lyrics of Row, Row, Row Your Boat. Even Humpty Dumpty left mums and dads cracking under pressure, with over half saying that they couldn’t remember all the words. However, bedtime itself is not out of fashion and parents have been resorting to other means of soothing their young ones. Read More Parenting Stories ...
A Florida judge has denied the motion from Brian Laundrie's parents to dismiss the civil lawsuit against them. Gabby Petito's parents, Joe Petito and Nichole Schmidt, filed the lawsuit against Chris and Roberta Laundrie after their daughter's remains were found in Wyoming's Grand Teton National Park. She was with the Laundries' son at the time, and their lawsuit alleges that the Laundries knew their son had killed Petito. The Laundries cited the Fifth Amendment in their motion to dismiss the suit, pointing to their "fundamental constitutional rights to silence." Judge Hunter W. Carroll of the 12th Judicial Circuit Court subsequently ruled that it could not be "necessary or appropriate in this case to resolve these constitutional claims on a motion to dismiss." FBI SAYS BRIAN LAUNDRIE CLAIMED RESPONSIBILITY FOR GABBY PETITO'S DEATH IN NOTEBOOK Before Petito's remains were found in Wyoming, the Laundries put out an unprovoked statement, wishing "that the search for Miss Petito is successful and that Miss Petito is reunited with her family." This statement disqualified the Laundries from Fifth Amendment protection,...
Washington Post associate editor Bob Woodward said on CNN’s coverage of today’s hearing by the House Select Committee investigating January 6, 2021 that the testimony from Mark Meadows’ former aide Cassidy Hutchinson proved Donald Trump was a dangerous president who incited the Capitol riot. Woodward said, “I called my second book on Trump  Rage because he told me that he brings out rage in people. This is the first concrete series of examples of him resorting to rage and violence himself. And it’s Gina Haspel, the CIA director he appointed early on said when he fired the defense secretary said, he is having a tantrum like a 6-year-old. That’s exactly what this is. Gina Haspel is somebody who’s qualified to assess the stability, the core of who someone is, and for her to reach that conclusion, and now we have evidence. We also, I’m sure that this committee has talked to those secret service agents, wouldn’t put this testimony on without having back up on it. So the populous, the voters in America have to address the question, and Republicans have to address...
Washington Examiner commentary writer Tiana Lowe blasted Vice President Kamala Harris for being sure of what a woman is and the medical and cultural harm a woman will now apparently endure in the wake of the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. “I’ve been told that it’s a very difficult question to know who exactly is a woman, but Kamala seems very sure of herself that she’s a woman, so clearly she’s a biologist,” Lowe told Mornings with Maria Tuesday. “Let’s not forget that in the years after the Supreme Court originally decided Roe v. Wade, pregnancy discrimination was still legal under federal law. Banks still had the power to deny unmarried women credit cards or lines of creditor loans. So, this notion that we’ve somehow gone to a pre-Roe era is just categorically false.” Lowe noted that the Democrats have little to run on as the midterm elections approach. “They have to hold on to the idea that we are going back to The Handmaid's Tale because they have no other electoral...
Many people from legal experts to court watchers to journalists to ordinary Americans on social media are criticizing Justice Neil Gorsuch for his majority opinion in a decision siding with a former high school football coach. That coach sued after the school district ordered him to stop praying after every game at the 50-yard line. Justice Gorsuch’s opinion, as many are noticing, appears to be based on facts that are false. Several are accusing Gorsuch of just plain lying. Justice Gorsuch claimed the coach’s First Amendment rights were violated, and that he was merely engaging in “quiet personal prayer” as he knelt. Gorsuch uses the word “quiet” 14 times, as The Washington Post’s Paul Waldman notes. Who would you vote for in 2024, Biden or DeSantis? Vote now. “Joseph Kennedy lost his job as a high school football coach because he knelt at midfield after games to offer a quiet prayer of thanks,” Justice Gorsuch writes as he begins his majority opinion. “Mr. Kennedy prayed during a period when school employees were free to speak with a friend, call...

The distraught mother of murdered Gabby Petito dabbed tears from her eyes in a courtroom today as she listened to her lawyer blast the actions of killer Brian Laundrie's parents as 'callous and shameful'. OAKLAND – Right-hander Daulton Jefferies enjoyed being back around his teammates in the A’s clubhouse Friday, but there was one drawback. “The only thing is kind of hurts to laugh,” Jefferies said. “That’s the only unfortunate thing about being around these guys.” Jefferies underwent thoracic outlet surgery Monday in Dallas by Dr. Greg Pearl, a procedure that included the removal of his first rib, and returned to Oakland on Thursday. Jefferies will miss the rest of this season as he won’t throw again for roughly another four months. He is optimistic, though, that he’ll be able to have a healthy offseason and participate in spring training next year. “Trying to think long term on it,” Jefferies said. “At the same time, in the short term, you have to go through these different phases to get to the long term. Looking forward to throwing again and just having the reassurance of knowing what the problem was.” Outcomes for pitchers who have had thoracic outlet syndrome can vary from one player to the next. The syndrome has ended some careers but has...
(CNN)Michael J. Fox says living with Parkinson's disease has influenced the projects he selects in his acting career. In a conversation with Mike Birbiglia's for his "Working It Out" podcast, the actor and research advocate said that remembering lines has become more difficult in the decades since he was first diagnosed."When I did the spinoff from 'The Good Wife,' which is 'The Good Fight,' I couldn't remember the lines. I just had this blank, I couldn't remember the lines," he explained, contrasting that experience to how he felt when he would get a script earlier in his career for films or in his role on "Family Ties.""I'd go, 'I'm in. Mallory, get off the phone.' And I knew it, like in an instant, and it continued to be that way for me," Fox recalled. "I have 70 pages of dialogue on a [Brian] De Palma movie, and knowing that a hugely expensive Steadicam shot depends on me knowing the lines — not a trickle of sweat on my brow."Fox said he has learned to adapt and recalled a challenging scene...

Gabby Petito's parents are accusing the parents of her killer and fiancé Brian Laundrie of going on vacation with him after finding out he'd killed their daughter - and where he'd left her body.    Joseph and Nichole Petito are amending their lawsuit against the Laundries to say that they went to Fort De Soto Park in the Tampa Bay area just days before Petito was reported missing.  'They went on vacation knowing that Brian Laundrie had murdered Gabrielle Petito, it is believed that they knew where her body was located, and further knew that Gabrielle Petito's parents were attempting to locate her,' the lawsuit now says. 'The allegations in the amended complaint may now conform to proper pleadings but they do not give rise to liability under the law,' Laundrie family attorney Steven Bertolino told NBC News Friday.  'Thus we are still confident the Court will dismiss the action.'  Gabby had embarked with Laundrie on a 'van life' cross-country road trip in July and had a brush with the law in August, when police in Utah responded to a domestic violence...

What Republicans say publicly and what they really think can be two very different things, and there is no greater example than House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy. Newly released audio from January 10, 2021 shows McCarthy, during a phone conservation with Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming, calling for then-President Donald Trump to resign or perhaps be removed from office via the U.S. Constitution’s 25th Amendment — the same McCarthy who later railed against Cheney, demonized her for being a part of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s January 6 select committee, and jumped through hoops to stay in Trump’s good graces. McCarthy’s actions are a perfect example of why Never Trump conservative Amanda Carpenter, who once served as communications director for Sen. Ted Cruz, finds so much to dislike about today’s Republican Party and the MAGA movement. And she slams McCarthy’s “machinations” in a blistering article published by the conservative website The Bulwark on April 28. “Deny and lie — that was Kevin McCarthy’s initial reaction to last week’s New York Times reporting about how he had privately blamed former President Donald...

Kellyanne Conway, a former adviser to Donald Trump, admitted over the weekend that she knew of allegations against Charles Herbster (R-NE) 10 months ago but stayed silent and worked for him anyway. During an appearance on Steve Bannon's War Room: Pandemic program on Saturday, Conway suggested that a Republican Nebraska state senator and seven other women had been lying when they accused Herbster of groping them. Herbster is running to replace Gov. Pete Ricketts (R) and has been endorsed by Trump. Conway accused the outgoing governor of orchestrating a political attack on Herbster. "We've got women coming forward, we only know one's name," Conway said. "Her name is Julie Slama. She is a state senator who, curiously, Gov. Ricketts mentioned to me 10 months ago. [Ricketts] got in my face at an RNC event." Conway said that she had "protected" Ricketts by not revealing Slama's accusations against Herbster, who is suing for defamation. "I'm done trying to be Nebraska nice," she explained. "It was a very uncomfortable moment and I went up just to say, Governor, it seems like we're...

In Colorado, 64 counties reported calculation errors when sending out SNAP benefits. 1SNAP recipients who are overpaid are responsible for repayment going back one year "The vast majority of overpayment claims are the result of agency error," said Ms Riley Sanders, a policy advocate for Colorado Center on Law and Policy (CCLP), which issued the report.
