People who have been triple-vaccinated against Covid are 93 per cent less likely to die from the virus than the unjabbed, latest official figures show.  A report by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) looked at 70,000 coronavirus deaths in England between July and December 2021. The death rate was 23.6 per 100,000 for the fully boosted, compared to the 356.5 per 100,000 rate in the unvaccinated during the period. Adjusting for age, statisticians found having two doses also reduced the risk by 81 per cent during the same period.   The period does not cover the full Omicron wave, which may influence the findings. The new variant has made two doses significantly weaker, but Omicron itself is much milder than past strains.  In the ONS report, people were classified based on how many jabs they received and whether there had been more or less than 21 days since their last dose. The risk of dying was consistently lower every month from September for people who had a booster since third doses started being rolled out. More than 37.4million people in...
(CNN)Omicron is causing a tsunami, not a wave, of infections in the United States. We've learned a lot about this coronavirus variant since it was identified less than two months ago. We know that Omicron is highly transmissible and now accounts for nearly all new Covid cases, having pushed Delta into the background. Omicron causes far less severe disease than Delta, especially among people who are fully vaccinated and boosted. And it appears that the current spike in Covid-19 cases driven by Omicron may subside nearly as quickly as it rose. But the news isn't as good as it may seem. Rapid increases in cases are leading to increases in hospitalizations and deaths, especially among the unvaccinated, and may continue to increase for several weeks, even after case numbers start to decline. The huge jump in cases is already stressing our health system past capacity, as sick people flood doctors' offices and hospitals that are understaffed because health workers are also falling ill from Covid-19 and unable to work. Omicron cases dip in the US overall, but the wave is far...

A columnist with The Los Angeles Times has declared that it is acceptable to ridicule the unvaccinated Orange County deputy district attorney for dying of COVID-19, writing: 'mockery is not necessarily the wrong reaction'. Michael Hiltzik, the Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist and author, on Monday turned his attention to the death of Kelly Ernby, 46. Ernby, a rising Republican star, died on January 2 of COVID-19.   Her husband, Axel Mattias Ernby, has since denounced his wife's choice to spurn the vaccination, and rally against vaccine mandates. 'She was NOT vaccinated. That's the problem,' he said, according to screenshots of his comments shared on social media.    Her death was greeted with derision on social media, and Hiltzik said it was appropriate. 'Mockery is not necessarily the wrong reaction to those who publicly mocked anti-COVID measures and encouraged others to follow suit, before they perished of the disease the dangers of which they belittled,' he wrote. Kelly Ernby, 46, died of COVID-19 on January 2. The husband of Orange County Deputy District Attorney Kelly Ernby, who opposed vaccine mandates publicly and died of coronavirus earlier this week, was not vaccinated against the illness, according to comments by her husband on social media. The prosecutor and Republican activist, 46, who was considered a rising star within the party, has been deeply mourned. The Orange County Register reported Tuesday: When news of Ernby’s death broke Monday, her vaccination status wasn’t clear. Friends and colleagues contacted by the Register only knew that the Huntington Beach resident opposed vaccine mandates even before COVID-19 arrived, campaigning against such laws as far back as 2019. And Ernby’s family still hasn’t been reached for comment. Her husband Axel Mattias Ernby shared her vaccination status on Facebook in response to false claims about Ernby, whose death has triggered feedback from people around the world on both sides of the political aisle seeking a poster child for their beliefs. … But some GOP activists, such as former Assembly candidate Jon Paul White, shared false information that Ernby had been vaccinated and even suggested that the vaccine...
A Holocaust survivor who spent part of his childhood imprisoned in a concentration camp had a biting message for a woman who compared vaccine mandates to the Nazis' treatment of Jews and other persecuted groups: 'Shame on you.' Carollynn (Martin) Xavier, a comedian who goes by @carollynn_thechristian on TikTok, recently showed off her new buzz cut and quipped that it was her 'first day at an unvaccinated camp.' Nazis famously shaved the heads of concentration camp prisoners before killing them or putting them to work.   Gidon Lev, 86, who was imprisoned at Theresienstadt in Czechoslovakia from 1941 to 1945, did not think Carollynn's 'joke' was funny in the slightest, and has taken her to task in his own viral TikTok video. The backlash against Carollynn grew so swiftly that she soon deleted the video before setting her entire TikTok page to private.  A Holocaust survivor had a biting message for a woman who compared vaccine mandates to the Nazis' treatment of Jews and other persecuted groups: 'Shame on you' Carollynn (Martin) Xavier recently showed off her new buzz cut and quipped that it was...
The family of an Iowa man who died of a non-COVID-19 related infection last month says the man's death was indirectly caused by the pandemic.  Dale Weeks died from an infection in late November after he spent 15 days in a small hospital when larger facilities in the state could not accommodate him because they was overwhelmed with COVID-19 patients, according to The Des Moines Register.  “It’s infuriating that people who are not vaccinated are clogging it up,” Jenifer Owenson, one of Weeks’s four children, said, per the Register. Weeks was admitted to the small MercyOne hospital when larger facilities in the area were unable to provide him with a bed to treat his sepsis infection, the Register reported. Owenson said that though the staff at MercyOne did the best they could, Weeks's infection worsened and the family repeatedly requested that he be transferred to a more advanced facility. “We kept being told he was on a ‘list of degrees of severity,’ and his number had not come up,” she said. “In addition to an increased number of COVID-19 cases and spread of the delta and omicron variants, hospitals across the...
President Biden is “spreading his own version of holiday cheer by telling us all we are going to die,” Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) said on Thursday, detailing his own “naughty” list in the spirit of the fictional holiday Festivus following the release of his annual Festivus Report on government waste. “After Fauci, next on my naughty list is our President. President Biden is now spreading his own version of holiday cheer by telling us all we are going to die,” Paul said, posting part of the statement from Biden, who warned the unvaccinated that they are “looking at a winter of severe illness and death.” “That’s an interesting tactic, but thankfully I don’t think the President remembers he said it,” he continued: That’s an interesting tactic, but thankfully I don’t think the President remembers he said it. — Senator Rand Paul (@RandPaul) December 23, 2021 Indeed, President Biden has continued to rail against unvaccinated Americans, and members of his administration have also echoed those sentiments. “But it’s here now, and it’s spreading, and it’s going to increase … We are...
by Debra Heine   During a speech Tuesday afternoon, Joe Biden said fully vaccinated Americans should feel comfortable celebrating the holidays with their families, while warning unvaccinated Americans that they are at a higher risk of ending up in the hospital and dying. Biden repeatedly urged vaccine holdouts to get the jab, saying it is the patriotic duty of every American, and stressing that the shots are “free.” Biden announced that starting next month, insurance will start covering at-home COVID tests, and the government will provide free tests to those who don’t have insurance. He also said the government would set up emergency testing sites in COVID hot spots around the country. The regime’s new measures to curb the virus come as Biden faces his lowest approval numbers yet in a new PBS/Marist poll. Just 41 percent of Americans approve of the job he has been doing as president, according to a new PBS NewsHour/NPR/Marist poll. Support among independents alone dropped eight points in a week. Overall, more than half — 55 percent — of Americans disapprove of Biden’s performance, including 44...
In a historic public address, President Joe Biden spoke on Tuesday about new measures for fighting the omicron variant — a mutant strain of the SARS-CoV-2 virus that now accounts for nearly three-fourths of new COVID-19 infections in the United States — and specifically announced that the government is purchasing 500 million at-home COVID-19 tests for free distribution. While delivering these remarks, Biden echoed back to one of the main themes from his September national address, in which he said that the COVID-19 pandemic had become "a pandemic of the unvaccinated." Recalling that speech, Biden stated plainly that those refuse vaccination are only hurting themselves and others. "I promised when I got elected that I would always give it you straight from the shoulder," Biden opened, explaining that he felt it was necessary to answer questions about the omicron variant as Americans head into the Christmas weekend. "If you are not fully vaccinated, you have good reason to be concerned," he warned. The president pointed out that unvaccinated Americans are at a higher risk of both getting seriously sick from...
President Joe Biden will address the coronavirus pandemic again on Tuesday, as his administration struggles to respond to the latest variant of the virus while cases continue to rise. “I am not going to shut down the economy period. I’m going to shut down the virus; that’s what I’m going to shut down,” Biden said at a press conference after the 2020 election in November. Tuesday’s speech will be Biden’s 37th major address as president focused on fighting the coronavirus pandemic. From the beginning of his presidency, Biden blamed his predecessor Donald Trump for failing to end the pandemic, promising Americans he would “always level” with them, “shoot from the shoulder” and lead the pandemic response with science. AN UNVACCINATED Texas man is the first record person in the US to have died from the omicron variant of the coronavirus. The Harris County Public Health department in Houston released a statement on Monday saying the man who died was in his 50s and had previously been infected with Covid-19. 2A Texas man is the first recorded omicron-related death in the nationCredit: PA "The individual was at higher risk of severe complications from Covid-19 due to his unvaccinated status and had underlying health conditions," read the statement. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the patient’s family, and we extend our deepest sympathies,” said Harris County Public Health Executive Director Barbie Robinson. “This is a reminder of the severity of Covid-19 and its variants. We urge all residents who qualify to get vaccinated and get their booster shot if they have not already.” This was the first death locally as a result of the omicron strain, Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo said. ABC News said the death is believed to be the first known omicron-related fatality in the...
During a White House press briefing Friday, Covid Czar Jeff Zients told the unvaccinated, “you’re looking at a winter of severe illness and death for yourselves, your families, and the hospitals you may soon overwhelm.” This, of course, reiterates something His Fraudulency Joe Biden said the day prior. “For unvaccinated: We are looking at a winter of severe illness and death, if you’re unvaccinated,” Biden said. “For themselves, their family, and the hospitals they’ll soon overwhelm.” So what we have here is the latest Biden/White House talking point, which is not just anti-science, it is also more proof Democrats want Trump supporters to die. As far as it being anti-science, after more than a year of the pandemic, some 800,000 Americans have died. That’s a lot of people, no question, but it’s also less than one-third of one-percent of the total population. As far as “severe illness,” according to the CDC, about 254,000 Americans have been hospitalized with the China Flu. Again, that’s a lot of people, but it’s still less than one-percent of the total population. Live in fear… forever!...
White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki did not flinch when pressed about the perception of a “death and destruction” message to the unvaccinated as the Omicron variant explodes. Ms. Psaki held a briefing with reporters on Monday, at which President Joe Biden’s upcoming speech on the Omicron-fed winter coronavirus surge was a major topic, as well as the administration’s broader messaging on the coronavirus. One reporter, Playboy White House correspondent Brian Karem, zeroed in on comments like those made by White House COVID-19 Response Coordinator Jeff Zients last week laying out the consequences for failing to get vaccinated. Psaki didn’t flinch at Karem’s characterization of that message: MR. KAREM: You said 14 times more likely to die — unvaccinated. Is there a point in time where this administration — I mean, what you said recently about, “Hey, for those who are vaccinated, it’s mild or asymptomatic. For those who are not, death and destruction awaits you.” So, are you pretty much done trying to be diplomatic on this? Is it over with? MS. PSAKI: I think our responsibility and the President’s...
White House press secretary Jen Psaki said that President Biden's planned Tuesday address is 'not a speech about locking the country down,' but will focus on a drive for vaccinations.  'This is not a speech about locking the country down. This is a speech outlining and being direct and clear with the American people about the benefits of being vaccinated, the steps we're going to take to increase access and to increase testing, and the risks posed to being unvaccinated.' 'He'll talk about what to expect as we head into the winter months and detail additional steps that we will be taking,' Psaki said.  Previewing the speech, she continued: 'The president will restate that while vaccinated individuals get covid due to the highly transmissible nature of omicron, their cases will likely be mild or asymptomatic. we continue to see and our health experts assess that you are 14 times more likely to die of covid if you have not been vaccinated.' The press secretary said Biden will continue the tough talk for those who choose to remain unvaccinated.    'For those...
"Outnumbered" co-host Kayleigh McEnany ripped President Biden for aiming to be a "uniter" before his anticipated speech where he is expected to warn unvaccinated Americans. McEnany made those remarks on Monday, highlighting a White House statement which claims the unvaccinated will endure a "winter of severe illness and death" since they did not receive the shot.  OMICRON FORCES WAVE OF CLOSURES NATIONWIDE AS BIDEN WARNS WINTER OF ‘DEATH’ APPROACHING KAYLEIGH MCENANY: That's right, and Operation Warp Speed, the only new thing that President Joe Biden has brought to this are angry old man tirades against the unvaccinated and mandates on private sector businesses that are just hurting the economy. If you want a preview of what the president's going to say tomorrow, look no further than what's on WhiteHouse.gov. Jeff Zients, the COVID coordinator, yeah, he came out and said this. For the unvaccinated, you're looking at a winter of severe illness and death for yourselves, your family and the hospitals you may soon overwhelm. This from the administration, the president who was going to be the great uniter. Remember...
White House chief of staff Ron Klain doubled down on the White House's doomsday warning for the unvaccinated on Monday.  'We are intent on not letting Omicron disrupt work and school for the vaccinated. You've done the right thing, and we will get through this,' said White House coronavirus response coordinator Jeff Zients in a press briefing.  'For the unvaccinated, you're looking at a winter of severe illness and death for yourselves, your families, and the hospitals you may soon overwhelm.'  'Who is this for? Unvaccinated Americans are not going to be persuaded by messaging like this,' New York Magazine writer Olivia Nuzzi questioned on Twitter.  'The truth is the truth,' Klain wrote back.  White House chief of staff Ron Klain doubled down on the White House's doomsday warning for the unvaccinated on Monday Elsewhere in the briefing, Zients insisted that vaccines are effective, even against the highly transmissible Omicron variant.  'Our vaccines work against Omicron, especially for people who get booster shots when they are eligible,' he said. 'If you are vaccinated, you could test positive. But if...
The White House was viciously mocked over the weekend after pushing the message that unvaccinated Americans would experience a winter of "severe illness and death" due to the omicron variant of the coronavirus.  President Biden, as well as White House COVID response coordinator Jeff Zients, each pushed the messaging last week, with the former issuing the stark and gloomy warning to Americans following a Thursday White House briefing on the pandemic. A dose of harsh reality for the unvaccinated went viral over the weekend, as screenshots of a White House briefing transcript circulated. The video is just as impactful. The screenshot, from the December 17 briefing by the White House COVID-19 Response Team, reads “We are intent on not letting Omicron disrupt work and school for the vaccinated. You’ve done the right thing, and we will get through this.” “For the unvaccinated, you’re looking at a winter of severe illness and death for yourselves, your families, and the hospitals you may soon overwhelm.” Those sentiments were spoken by White House COVID-19 Response Coordinator Jeff Zients and were part of a longer statement delivered at the top of the briefing. He concluded that statement with another message for the unvaccinated, saying ” One hundred sixty thousand unvaccinated people have already needlessly lost their lives just since June, and this number will continue to go up until the unvaccinated take action. So, I’ll say it once more: Get vaccinated.” The shortened message did not go over well with some, who posted the screenshot in...
THE president will update the nation Tuesday on new Covid measures as the Omicron variant quickly spreads throughout the country, according to reports. Joe Biden is expected to go beyond his "Winter Plan" with additional steps to help communities in need, NBC reported based on a White House official. 2President Joe Biden will address the nation about the Omicron variant on TuesdayCredit: Getty Images - Getty 2'We are looking at a winter of severe illness and death' for the unvaccinated, Biden saidCredit: AFP or licensors Biden warned on Thursday that the Omicron variant is going to spread more rapidly and that a winter of severe illness and death awaits the unvaccinated. The variant - which originated in South Africa around Thanksgiving - now accounts for about 2.9 percent of all cases in the US and has been confirmed in at least 36 states, according to the most recent report by the CDC. Given the speed and potency of the variant, Biden urged everyone who's eligible for the booster shot to get one as soon as possible, and again...
President Joe Biden sent a stern warning on Thursday to Americans who are still unwilling to get the coronavirus vaccine, warning of the looming spread of the Omicron variant in the United States. “For unvaccinated: We are looking at a winter of severe illness and death, if you’re unvaccinated,” Biden said. “For themselves, their family, and the hospital they’ll soon overwhelm.” Biden raised concern about the Omicron variant of the virus, warning that it would spread quickly around the country in January. “Omicron is here. It’s gonna start to spread much more rapidly at the beginning of the year, and the only real protection is to get your shot,” he said. Existing coronavirus vaccines continue showing reduced protection from the Omicron variant, prompting federal health officials to urge more people to get booster shots. Biden repeated that Americans who were vaccinated and got an additional booster shot would not suffer deadly symptoms from the virus. “If you’re vaccinated, and you have your booster shot, you’re protected from severe illness and death. Period,” he said. Biden spoke to the press wearing...
As rising Covid-19 cases across the U.S. dominated media coverage and cable news programming Thursday, President Joe Biden offered a grim warning for the coming winter. “I want to send a direct message to the American people: Due to the steps we’ve taken, Omicron has not yet spread as fast as it would have otherwise done,” Biden told reporters at the White House after giving a briefing on Covid-19. Biden continued: But it’s here now and it’s spreading and it’s gonna increase. … We are looking at a winter of severe illness and death for the unvaccinated — for themselves, their families and the hospitals they’ll soon overwhelm. But there’s good news: If you’re vaccinated and you have your booster shot, you’re protected from severe illness and death While urging all eligible Americans to get vaccinated, he offered some comfort, saying, “We’re gonna protect our economic recovery. “If we do this, we’re gonna keep schools and businesses open and I want to see everyone around enjoy that. I want to see them enjoy the fact that they’re able...
President Joe Biden warned Thursday of “a winter of severe illness and death” for unvaccinated Americans amid increasing Omicron cases. The Omicron variant is believed to be more transmissible but may spark less severe illnesses than previous coronavirus variants. First identified by South Africa in November, the variant sparked panic, and countries – including the U.S. – began reimplementing travel restrictions for parts of the world. Weeks later, officials are still learning more about Omicron, though Biden’s chief medical advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci recently noted it’s “almost certainly” less severe than Delta. The Delta variant remains dominant in the U.S., but data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) indicate Omicron is beginning to account for more cases, Stat News reported. Despite Fauci’s belief that Omicron may be less severe than the Delta variant, Biden issued a warning for unvaccinated Americans on Thursday after a briefing with his coronavirus team. The president said the new variant isn’t “spreading as fast as it would have,” touting the “steps we have taken,” but still warned that it’s “spreading” and will “increase.”...
President Joe Biden issued a stark warning about the risks the Omicron variant poses to the unvaccinated in particular, as the nation braces for a steep escalation in cases amid an expected surge in hospitalizations.   'It's here, it's spreading and it's going to increase,' Biden cautioned in remarks Wednesday afternoon. With the highly transmissible new variant spreading at an alarming rate, amid an ongoing surge in the Delta variant, Biden warned of the trauma facing Americans who have not received covid vaccines.  'For the unvaccinated, we are looking at a winter of severe illness and death,' said Biden. He also gave yet another hard sell for Americans to get booster shots.  'Get your booster shot. It's critically important,' he said.  'It's here, it's spreading and it's going to increase,' President Joe Biden said of the Omicron variant, as he urged Americans to get their booster shots 'So the whole point is: Omicron is here, it's going to start to spread much more rapidly [in the] beginning of the year, and the only real protection is to get your shots.  He...

Biden, in a meeting with medical advisers and Vice President Harris to discuss the pandemic, said the country was in a better position to deal with the omicron variant of COVID-19 because of steps taken to limit travel and increase access to boosters. "But it's here now and it’s spreading, and it’s gonna increase," Biden said of the omicron variant, which experts think is more contagious than previous strains. "For unvaccinated, we are looking at a winter of severe illness and death... for themselves, their families and the hospitals they’ll soon overwhelm," Biden continued. "But there's good news. ATHENS, Greece (AP) — An unvaccinated Greek commentator and publisher died of respiratory failure and resulting complications from COVID-19 on Tuesday, focusing public attention on the large number of older people in Greece who still haven’t received their shots as the country struggles with a spike in infections and deaths. Giorgos Trangas, 71, died at a state hospital in Athens after being admitted on Dec. 4 with severe breathing difficulties. He was unvaccinated, and had recently formed a small political party, “Free People,” that was critical of vaccine mandates and lockdown measures. With a quarter of the adult population unvaccinated, Greece is suffering a third major surge of infections this winter with the COVID-19 death rate just below peak levels recorded a year ago. The government has imposed a vaccination mandate on residents over age 60 to be enforced in January with a 100-euro ($110) monthly fine, while vaccination certificates will also expire after seven months for seniors who fail to get a booster shot. Trangas’ doctor, Christos Zoupas, said he had pleaded with him to...

This week, Minnesota broke its previous 2021 high water mark for COVID-19 hospitalizations. As of Friday, there were more than 1,670 COVID-19 hospitalizations in Minnesota; 338 in intensive care. Meanwhile, the state is still reporting dozens of COVID-19 deaths per day. With more than 60 percent of Minnesota’s population fully vaccinated against the virus, this wave is smaller, overall, than the massive one that peaked around Thanksgiving last year, just weeks before vaccines were approved. But it’s lasted longer. “It’s a marathon. This has gone on and on,” said Dr. David Wilcox, chief medical officer for Sanford Health of Northern Minnesota. Article continues after advertisement The rising number of people going to the hospital and dying of COVID-19 in recent months has also included some people who were vaccinated against the disease. For some, these breakthrough infections have raised alarm that the vaccines might not protect people as much as had been hoped. That...

HAMBURG–Germany is scrambling to deal with a raging fourth wave of COVID-19 as the country this week recorded its highest number of cases yet amid flatlining vaccination rates, fractured political decision-making, and an increasingly radical anti-vaccine movement. More than 16 million people aged 12 or above—around a third of the country’s population—remain unvaccinated, according to Robert Koch Institute, Germany’s disease control agency, and health minister Jens Spahn has publicly blamed those people for what he calls a “pandemic of the unvaccinated.” On Thursday, Germany recorded more than 50,000 new daily COVID-19 infections and reached its highest seven-day incidence since the beginning of the pandemic, at 249.9 infections per 100,000 inhabitants. The Robert Koch Institute said unvaccinated or partly vaccinated people now face a “very high” risk to their health. Some 97,000 COVID-related deaths have been reported in Germany since the pandemic began two years ago, but according to Christian Drosten, director of the Institute of Virology at Charité Berlin, if the crisis continues on its current path there could be a further 100,000 deaths. Recent polling suggests the German...
A San Francisco, Calif., police officer who was placed on administrative leave after not meeting the department's vaccination deadline has reportedly died of COVID-19. According to San Francisco Chronicle, Jack Nyce, a 17-year veteran police officer, tested positive for COVID-19 last Tuesday before being transported to a local hospital by ambulance. On Sunday, November 7, Nyce passed away at the Kaiser Hospital in Manteca, Calif. Nyce was 1 of 41 officers still classified as unvaccinated at the time of the department's November 1 vaccination deadline. Shortly after his death, the San Francisco Police Department Chief of Police William Scott and Tony Montoya, the SFPD association president, both released statements mourning Nyce's death. "A widely respected colleague most recently assigned to Park Station, Jack served our City and our department honorably and well for more than 17 years, in roles that included a variety of assignments," Scott said in a statement. "I will share more information about plans for his remembrance as they become available. In the interim, please keep Jack, his family and friends in your thoughts...
The fallout of a fatal case of COVID-19 could lead to further financial repercussions for some workers who refuse to get vaccinated against the virus. According to multiple reports, the New York MTA has become the latest to announce that it will not pay a $500,000 death benefit to the families of employees who die of the virus who were unvaccinated at the time of their death. Previously, the death benefit payment was available to any MTA worker who had died from COVID-19, regardless of vaccination status. The MTA hadn’t previously held the hard stance until vaccines became more widely available, prompting the change. Since the pandemic began in March 2020, 173 MTA workers have contracted covid and died, five of which happened after the organization enacted the new policy in June, according to the MTA. Employees were given six weeks’ notice to get vaccinated before the policy took effect. Other employers and local municipalities across the country have expressed similar concerns about regarding providing death benefits to those who refuse to get the vaccine. Some have also increased...
The far-left New York Times reports that the coronavirus death rate in Trump counties is three times higher than in Biden counties. The Times says it examined counties where former President Trump won by 60 percent or more and compared those to counties where His Fraudulency Joe Biden won by 60 percent or more. The results were striking. “In October, 25 out of every 100,000 residents of heavily Trump counties died from Covid, more than three times higher than the rate in heavily Biden counties (7.8 per 100,000),” writes the Times. “October was the fifth consecutive month that the percentage gap between the death rates in Trump counties and Biden counties widened.” “Some conservative writers have tried to claim that the gap may stem from regional differences in weather or age, but those arguments fall apart under scrutiny,” adds the Times. But if “weather or age were a major reason, the pattern would have begun to appear last year.” In other words, this discrepancy, this wide gap in the China Flu death rate between Trump and Biden counties, did not appear before the vaccine...
AUSTIN, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) – A new study released by the Texas Department of State Health Services shows that during the month of September, Texans who were not vaccinated against COVID-19 were about 20 times more likely to suffer a COVID-19-associated death and 13 times more likely to test positive than people who were fully vaccinated. An analysis of data from the four-week period from Sept. 4 through Oct. 1 shows that vaccination had a strong protective effect across all ages, DSHS said in a news release Monday, Nov. 8. While the impact varied across age groups, it was most pronounced in younger groups, the study showed. The risk of COVID-19 death was 48 times higher in unvaccinated people in their 30s and 63 times higher for people in their 40s, compared with their vaccinated peers. There were fewer than 10 COVID-19 deaths among fully vaccinated people ages 18 to 29 compared with 339 deaths among unvaccinated people in the same age group. The study, which matched electronic lab reports and death certificates with state immunization records, is the state’s first...
FAMILIES can now be denied benefit support if an unvaccinated loved one dies. It comes as more companies and businesses are issuing ultimatums and new rules in hopes of persuading employees and others to get the Covid jab. 1New York's Metropolitan Transit Authority is refusing a death benefit payment to families of unvaccinated workersCredit: AFP - Getty The Metropolitan Transportation Authority in New York is now refusing to award a $500,000 death benefit to those workers who die from Covid and were unvaccinated. The policy change went into effect on June 1, 2021. Previously, the death benefit payment was available to any MTA worker who had passed away from Covid, regardless of vaccination status. But when vaccines became more widely available, the policy changed. Currently, around 70% of MTA workers are either fully vaccinated against the virus or have received at least one dose of a vaccine, according to a recent claim by the MTA. But that leaves a significant percentage of employees who are required to submit a weekly negative Covid test in order to work, as per a...
(KHN)These days, workers who refuse to get vaccinated against covid-19 may face financial repercussions, from higher health insurance premiums to loss of their jobs. Now, the financial fallout might follow workers beyond the grave. If they die of covid and weren't vaccinated, their families may not get death benefits they would otherwise have received.New York's Metropolitan Transportation Authority no longer pays a $500,000 death benefit to the families of subway, bus and commuter rail workers who die of covid if the workers were unvaccinated at the time of death."It strikes me as needlessly cruel," said Mark DeBofsky, a lawyer at DeBofsky Sherman Casciari Reynolds in Chicago who represents workers in benefit disputes.Other employers have similar concerns about providing death or other benefits to employees who refuse to be vaccinated. New York health workers ask Supreme Court to block states vaccine mandateIn Massachusetts, the New Bedford City Council sought to extend accidental death benefits to city employees who died of covid, but the mayor didn't sign that legislation because, among other things, it didn't prohibit payment if the worker was unvaccinated.Read...
Buddy Crabtree (pictured), 65, died of Covid on Saturday. He was the police chief of Ider, Alabama, a small town of around 700 people An Alabama police chief died of COVID-19 on Saturday and expressed his regrets over not getting vaccinated in his final days.  Buddy Crabtree, 65, was the police chief of Ider, a small town of around 700 people around 100 miles southeast of Nashville. He was hospitalized on October 9 in nearby Scottsboro, before being flown to Chattanooga, Tennessee for treatment 10 days later as his condition deteriorated.  Crabtree's wife, Kristie, reports that before he passed away, he said he would get all three available Covid vaccines to avoid suffering from the virus again. 'He actually said: "f I get better, I'll take all three, I don't ever want to go through this again,"' she told WAAY.  Crabtree had wanted to work in law enforcement since he was 18 years old, his wife says, and had previously served as the police chief of Bridgeport, Alabama, 20 miles north of Ider.  'He loved his job and Ider,' Kristie...
Whenever the Minnesota Department of Health is notified of a death that is suspected to have been caused by COVID-19, Rich Danila logs the pertinent details into a notebook. Nearly 20 months into the coronavirus pandemic Danila, the deputy state epidemiologist with the Minnesota Department of Health, has filled 18 of those notebooks with the details of more than 8,500 COVID deaths. During the first year of the pandemic, before vaccines were available, the vast majority of deaths were among the elderly and people with serious underlying health conditions. Now, more often, some of fatalities health officials are investigating are people who are younger and relatively healthy. They typically have one thing in common — they’re unvaccinated. “These deaths are preventable and didn’t have to happen,” Danila said. “Many of the more recent deaths in younger individuals — in their 20s, or 30s, 40s, 50s, — are persons who are not medically fragile.” ‘ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SOULS’ Jeana Gullickson, a 26-year-old personal care attendant from Wabasso, was one of those COVID-19 deaths. Gullickson got sick just after her...
Former Trump administration Surgeon General Jerome Adams said Monday on CNN’s “Cuomo Prime Time” that former Secretary of State Colin Powell died because some Americans were not vaccinated. Anchor Chris Cuomo said, “In terms of his passing and how he would want it understood, what do you say about the idea that Powell passing while being vaccinated is proof that the vaccination is not necessary?” Adams said, “It’s absolutely untrue. We’ve got people out there who are in the vaccine-resistant crowd. We’ve got people who have completely different agendas, agendas that have nothing to do with vaccines, and as you mentioned, want to divide us. We’ve got a lot of people out there who are just thrown, who react to misinformation. They need the correct facts. For those of you out there in the moveable middle, I want you to know there have been 7,000 breakthrough deaths since people have been fully vaccinated starting in January of this year. That’s compared to over 300,000 unvaccinated people who died in this country, 7,000 to 300,000. These vaccines work.” He continued, “Of those...
Children, despite being ineligible for vaccination before age 12, remain far safer from COVID-19 than the elderly, even when the latter group is vaccinated. Data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Public Health England (PHE) and local healthcare authorities across the U.S. reveal the same trend over and over: vaccinated seniors are dying at a far higher rate of COVID-19 than children. The more encouraging half of the story is kids. For those without a serious medical condition, the danger of severe Covid is so low as to be difficult to quantify. For children with such a condition, the danger is higher but still lower than many people believe. — David Leonhardt (@DLeonhardt) October 12, 2021 Since the pandemic began, 367 kids under age 12 out of approximately 48 million in the U.S. have died of COVID-19, according to the CDC. That works out to a death rate of .76 per 100,000 unvaccinated kids. Among the more than 43 million Americans aged 65 and over who are fully vaccinated, there have been 5,660 COVID-19 deaths, according to...
(CNN) — With a first-of-its-kind antiviral pill against COVID-19 potentially headed towards distribution, the health care community may soon have another tool to combat a virus that has claimed the lives of more than 700,000 Americans. Merck and Ridgeback Biotherapeutics created an antiviral pill the companies say can reduce risk of COVID-19 hospitalization and death by 50%, and Merck said it will seek emergency use authorization from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its molnupiravir medication “as soon as possible.” READ MORE: Howard County School System Announces Vaccine Guidelines For Student-Athletes, Visitors And Others“We’ll be able to prescribe this to folks. They’ll take a five-day course and hopefully be able to stay home, not come in for an intravenous infusion and keep folks out of the hospital. So, it’s really very promising news,” Dr. Jonathan Reiner, CNN medical analyst and professor of medicine and surgery at George Washington University, told CNN’s Pamela Brown Saturday. But the best strategy for fighting the pandemic–full immunization–is still hampered due to resistance, Reiner noted, and a substantial number of Americans have died...

But Reiner noted that full immunization of the country -- the best method for beating back the pandemic -- will not happen due to resistance from some, and a substantial number of Americans have died since late February as...
CNBC host Jim Cramer laid out the risks facing workers in Stark relief, saying every in-person job is life or death, and that people don’t want to risk death from unvaccinated coworkers even for $22 an hour. On Tuesday’s edition of Cramer’s Mad Money, the host addressed the conditions keeping people out of the workforce, and finished by citing the fear of getting Covid from an unvaccinated co-worker: Look at it this way, of course, people are less willing to work if there’s a chance they’ll get very, very sick, possibly even die before spreading the virus to their families. Every in-person job is now a life or death job. Most people don’t like risking their lives even for 22 dollars an hour, especially if they’re working next to an unvaccinated colleague who catches Covid. So how do we solve this? You need to give people safety, perhaps herd immunity. Last night, Dr. Scott Gottlieb told us that we could get there in November through some combination of good vaccines and bad infections that give you immunity. I do know...
Death rate. Death rate. Death rate. Other than hospitalization rate, hospitalization rate, hospitalization rate, no other number matters. What do we care about coronavirus “cases?” We shouldn’t care about “cases.” “Cases” is a nonsense number the fascist left use to keep us locked down and in those filthy, useless masks. “Cases” is the number the anti-Trump vaccine people use to say, See, the vaccine doesn’t work! There’s still COVID!! Do not allow the left, who want you dead, to take your eye off the ball. Watch the DEATH RATE because the DEATH RATE makes it very clear that the vaccine not only works, it works like a miracle. The left is all safe and vaccinated, while too many on the right are not. And now we’re the ones who are dying: Conservative communities, on the other hand, have been walloped by the highly contagious Delta variant. (You can find data for hundreds of counties here.) Since Delta began circulating widely in the U.S., Covid has exacted a horrific death toll on red America: In counties where Donald Trump received at least...
On Monday, two children who lost their father to COVID-19 appeared on CNN to urge others to get vaccinated and blamed Fox News for his death. Katie Lane said Fox News' Tucker Carlson "played a role" in her father's death. "There's multiple reasons, I think. One of which was some of the media he ingested," Lane said. "He watched some Tucker Carlson videos on Youtube. And some of those videos involved some misinformation about vaccines and I believed that played a role." Patrick Lane died from COVID-19 and was unvaccinated and prior to his illness, was hesitant about getting vaccinated. Before he died, Katie said her father's final words in a last call to her stepmom were that "he wished he was vaccinated." Evan Lane, Patrick Lane's son, stressed he wasn't "anti-vaccine. He was just hesitant." He said that if he was still alive by the time Pfizer's vaccine was fully approved by the FDA, he most likely would have got vaccinated. At one point, before he got sick, Evans' father didn't want to hug Patrick Lane...

Candace Ayers, 66, died from COVID-19 at HSHS St Johns Hospital in Springfield, Illinois despite being fully vaccinated The family of a fully vaccinated Illinois woman who died from COVID-19 has blamed the millions of unvaccinated Americans for her death. Candance Ayers, 66, of Springfield, was vaccinated with the Moderna shot in March along with her husband Terry before being infected with the virus. She died six months later, on September 3 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital. Her family published an obituary which stated: 'She was preceded in death by more than 4,531,799 others infected with Covid-19. 'She was vaccinated but was infected by others who chose not to be. The cost was her life.'  Her son Marc believes that his mother contracted the virus in July after she and his father went to visit a friend, whose husband died of COVID-19, in Mississippi, where the vaccination rate is only 42%, according to the state's health website.  Ayers's son Marc (above) was among family members who blamed the unvaccinated in his mother's obituary 'This all could have been...
