Getty Images Daniel Jones warms up prior to a 2022 game. While the New York Giants are 7-4, there will continue to be a debate about the future of quarterback Daniel Jones. Jones, is in the final year of his rookie contract in 2022. The Giants didn’t exercise the 2019 first-round pick’s fifth-year option. With Jones under the helm at quarterback, Big Blue controls the No. 6 seed in the NFC and would make the playoffs if the season ended on December 2. However, his 10 touchdowns and four interception stat line aren’t exactly eye-popping. The talk of Jones’ future has increased as the Giants have lost three of their last four games. If the Giants don’t retain Jones after the 2022 season, Bleacher Report’s Brad Gagnon suggested the Giants as a landing spot for San Francisco quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. “Daniel Jones has had some moments this season, but we’ve officially reached a point at which the Giants are contending despite Jones, who has a mere 88.1 passer rating during a 1-3 stretch for Big Blue,” Gagnon wrote. “Meanwhile,...
Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva faces a potential four-year doping ban which would rule her out of the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina d'Ampezzo, the Court of Arbitration for Sport said Monday. CAS said it had registered an appeal from the World Anti-Doping Agency, which said last week it was taking the case to the Switzerland-based tribunal. WADA argues Russian officials have not made progress in resolving the 16-year-old Valieva's case nearly a year after she tested positive for a heart medication banned in sports. The CAS statement said WADA is seeking 'the athlete be sanctioned with a four-year period of ineligibility starting on the date on which the CAS award enters into force.' If granted, that would cover the next Olympics in Italy. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is running up a 14-point lead over his Democratic opponent in a new poll – in a race that Democrat Charlie Crist warns could set the table for a presidential run by his opponent. Most Floridians have already made up their mind, according to the survey by the University of North Florida's Public Opinion Research Lab. Just 4 per cent said they were undecided an less than 1 per cent said they would vote for another candidate.  It comes days after a debate where DeSantis refused to commit to serving out a four-year time, amid speculation he might run for the Republican nomination in 2024 – something he has refused to rule out despite former President Donald Trump's interest.  Florida Gov. Eight weeks down, four teams have the inside track for the two berths in the Pac-12 championship game. Oregon, USC, UCLA and Utah are the cream of the conference. They are 14-3 in league play, with the losses coming only to each other. Against everyone else, they are 11-0. Two games loom large, both on Nov. 19: Utah at Oregon and USC at UCLA It’s easy to see some combination of the quartet tying for the regular-season title or second place, with a berth in the championship game at stake. For that reason — and because we have received numerous inquiries from readers — the Hotline concluded the time is right for a brief overview of the tie-breaking procedure. Here we go … *** Two-team ties This is easy, unless it’s not. A two-team tie is broken by the head-to-head result. But if the teams did not play (for example: USC and Oregon), then the second tiebreaker is each team’s winning percentage against the next-highest-placed common opponent in the standings (and proceeding through the standings). And if that doesn’t work,...
Q: I can see a lot of variations from Erik Spoelstra on both the guard spots, testing Jimmy Butler at power forward, testing Omer Yurtseven at starting center, with Bam Adebayo at the power forward – Moodi. A: The idea of Jimmy Butler taking significant minutes at power forward has been floated since P.J. Tucker departed and no replacement was added And, yes, in many permutations, it certainly could work, particularly as teams downsize later in games. The question, though, comes down to Jimmy and how much he would be willing to play at the four, banging against bigger players. But it would be a means of unlocking more of the Heat’s perimeter potential in Kyle Lowry, Tyler Herro, Victor Oladipo, and even Max Strus, Gabe Vincent and Duncan Robinson. Jimmy at the four can get three of those others on the court at the same time. Q: Omer Yurtseven appears to be putting in quite a bit of work at AmericanAirlines Arena. – Lash. A: Actually, the work has been at FTX Arena (same place, different name). But, yes,...

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Carolina Hurricanes gave the Washington Capitals something to think about if the division rivals meet in the playoffs. Martin Necas scored twice, Sebastian Aho added his 29th goal and the Hurricanes routed the Capitals 6-1 on Monday night in a potential first-round preview that got heated. Carolina’s first victory in four meetings this season came with a cost after center Jesperi Kotkaniemi was injured on a hit with 1.8 seconds left. Before Kotkaniemi limped off from a penalized hit by Lars Eller, the highlight of the night was a heavyweight fight between Brendan Smith and Tom Wilson after tensions simmered for half the game. Carolina, which leads the Metropolitan Division, moved one point ahead of Florida in the back-and-forth race for the top seed in the Eastern Conference, which would likely mean a series against the Capitals. Derek Stepan, Brett Pesce and Brady Skjei also scored for the Hurricanes, who extended their point streak to four games. Frederik Andersen made 25 saves. Vitek Vanecek was pulled to start the third period after allowing five goals on...
Not all matchups are created equal. With just eight teams left in March Madness, these five potential Final Four matchups have more buzz than the rest. The road to the Final Four is almost over as the NCAA Tournament field has been whittled down from 68 teams to just eight. Four games over the next two days will solve the question of who will make it to New Orleans one week from now to fight for a spot in the national championship game. Eight teams being alive means we could end up with a multitude of potential matchups in New Orleans but not all of them are created equal. Don MacLean has yet to sit down and analyze Arizona’s draw in the South region of the NCAA Tournament — not because the Pac-12’s all-time leading scorer is too busy with his broadcasting duties for the Pac-12 Networks and calling NBA games for Fox Sports. MacLean hasn’t analyzed the Wildcats’ draw because, in his mind, it doesn’t matter. “Arizona has arguably the biggest margin for error in the country, meaning they can withstand setbacks,’’ MacLean told the Hotline. “We saw a perfect example of that in the Pac-12 tournament. Their most important player (point guard Kerr Kriisa) got hurt in the first game, and they still won it. “Arizona checks almost every box, if not every box. I don’t care who’s in their draw.” MacLean isn’t alone in his unabashedly bullish assessment. The Wildcats are the No. 2 overall seed in the tournament behind Gonzaga and the No. 2 betting favorite. Following Selection Sunday, the Zags were installed as the +350 tournament favorite — a $100 bet would return $350 if they win the title — followed by Arizona (+600),...
Four of the seven front row news organizations in the White House briefing room have been looking to hire President Joe Biden’s press secretary Jen Psaki. According to Puck News, the Biden administration’s spokesperson has been “feverishly courted by” the likes of CNN, MSNBC, ABC News, and CBS News for a potential hosting gig ahead of her reported exit from her White House role later this year. CNN has been particularly interested in Psaki in hopes that she could revitalize their broken brand in the wake of Jeff Zucker’s exit. “Psaki intends to leave the White House at some point this year and, according to sources familiar with her thinking, intends to go into television news—not as a contributor, but as a host,” reported the outlet. “Her lunch meetings with the CNN and MSNBC executives, which also included her agent Jay Sures, were the opening salvo in what is likely to be a long effort by several networks to court the woman who could potentially become the next big star in television news,” it added. President Joe Biden said he has done a deep dive on 'four people' he is considering as his first Supreme Court nominee and said he wants someone in the mode of retiring Justice Stephen Breyer.    'I've taken about four people and done the deep dive on them - meaning this thorough background checks, and see if there's anything in the background that would make them not qualify,' he told NBC's Lester Holt. Holt interviewed Biden in Culpepper, Va., on Thursday afternoon when the president was there to talk about prescription drug prices. The interview is set to air on Super Bowl Sunday but NBC released some early excerpts. Biden told NBC he thinks whomever he chooses can get the support of some Republican senators. 'I think we'll whomever I think we'll get a vote from the Republican side for the following reason - I'm not looking to make an ideological choice,' Biden said.  'I'm looking for someone that plays Judge Breyer with the same kind of capacity Judge Breyer had with an open mind, who understands it constitution interprets it...

Legendary Alabama head coach Nick Saban clearly doesn’t think expanding the College Football Playoff would be the right move.  Come next Monday night, Alabama head coach Nick Saban will be ready to try and add to his unreal Alabama legacy, as he’s hoping to win his seventh National Championship with the Crimson Tide. That’s just unreal. Leading up to kickoff, however, you already know that the idea of a possible expansion to the College Football Playoff will continue to be a popular topic of conversation. If you ask Saban, he doesn’t think expanding things beyond four teams is such a great idea.Alabama head coach Nick Saban isn’t a fan of a potential College Football Expansion“I don’t know that expanding — if this is the best four teams and they played each other, I don’t see the logic in, ‘if we had more teams, there would be better games.’ I don’t know how that adds up,” Saban said this week via Sports Illustrated. “But I’m really not in position to answer that.” In the team’s semifinal showdown with Cincinnati, Alabama cruised...
Ghislaine Maxwell's appeal bid is unlikely to succeed and she should cooperate with prosecutors to help reduce her sentence, legal experts have said. Maxwell's lawyer Bobbi Sternheim announced that she had 'already started working on an appeal' after the British socialite was found guilty of luring teenage girls for sexual abuse by her former lover Jeffrey Epstein on Wednesday. But lawyers today said there were no 'glaring legal issues' that would make prosecutors nervous and it would be better for Maxwell to 'drop a dime on all of Epstein's friends.' Maxwell has at least four potential grounds for appeal, according to a legal analysis by DailyMail.com, including the judge's insistence that jurors should sit through the New Year's Eve holiday.  Judge Alison Nathan said 'astronomical' Covid infections fueled by the Omicron variant meant there was a real risk of a 'mistrial'. Maxwell's lawyers complained that such instructions were essentially telling the jury they needed to 'hurry up.' Bradley Simon, a defense lawyer with Windels Marx, said this was 'a pretty good argument' and recalled a case where a state judge pressured...
Attorney General Chris Carr today announced the office’s Human Trafficking Prosecution Unit has rescued an underage victim and arrested four individuals in Fulton County for Human Trafficking, among other charges, following an extensive 10-month investigation. To date, the Human Trafficking Prosecution Unit has initiated 25 cases, arrested 9 individuals, investigated and prosecuted 51 defendants, and rescued and assisted 107 victims this year. “Our Human Trafficking Prosecution Unit continues to play an integral role in our state’s response to the abuse and exploitation of Georgia’s children,” said Carr. “Our team works from the ground-up to identify potential cases, locate and rescue victims, and prosecute buyers and traffickers. We remain dedicated in our efforts to protect our state’s most vulnerable citizens and look forward to presenting these cases in court.” The Human Trafficking Prosecution Unit initiated its investigation after reviewing an alert issued by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. From this alert, Unit Investigator Bryan Kimbell was able to identify, locate and rescue a 14-year-old victim. The victim had been missing for approximately seven weeks at the time...
The Marlins needed a replacement in the lineup for Starling Marte, and they got one in former Brewers outfielder Avisail Garcia. Garcia was a legitimate contributor in the lineup for a playoff team in the Brewers last season, slashing .262/.330/.490, but that wasn’t enough for Milwaukee to consider re-signing him or even giving him a qualifying offer. Instead, the Brewers lost Garcia for nothing, as he signed with the Miami Marlins on Sunday afternoon in a mad dash to do so by many free agents before a potential work stoppage. The Pittsburgh Steelers will likely be looking for a new quarterback, but Spencer Rattler hasn’t proved he should be the guy to replace Ben Roethlisberger.  With another underwhelming performance underway as the Oklahoma Sooners trail the Texas Longhorns, it’s clear that Spencer Rattler is not the best quarterback available in this draft class. Given how talented he is and the fact that he plays for Lincoln Riley, many assumed Rattler would be ready to go on to the NFL sooner rather than later. But right now it looks like Rattler still has some work to do if he wants to make it to the NFL. He’s been benched against Texas as the Sooners trail 38-20 at the half and the Pittsburgh Steelers, for example, should start considering other quarterbacks as they try to find an eventual replacement for Ben Roethlisberger. Given how Roethlisberger is playing, the Steelers need someone to take that job soon. The Steelers are 1-3 through the first four weeks and the 39-year-old quarterback has thrown for 1,033 yards and four touchdowns while completing 64.1 percent...
Stop right there. Let’s hold off on the talk of the Bills’ second trip to Kansas City this year being a possible AFC championship game preview. Sure, they met in January for a chance to go to the Super Bowl, with the Chiefs prevailing. And yes, they both can be powerhouses in the superior conference. For now, let’s simply enjoy the entertainment value of Buffalo (3-1), with its balance, against the so-far flawed but potentially dominating Chiefs (2-2) on Sunday night at Arrowhead Stadium. Kansas City has won five of its last six against Buffalo. But the Bills have been more impressive in the first month of this season. “I mean, of course we hated the way that it ended last year,” Buffalo’s 2020 All-Pro wide receiver Stefon Diggs said. “Anybody with a competitive nature would hate the way that it ended. But it’s a big game because it’s the next game, and it’s the same way that we approached all the games previous to this, so I wouldn’t make it more than what it is. And we aren’t...
After a year full of headlines about Congressional scrutiny over members' stock trading practices, it appears four more GOP representatives may have run afoul of laws meant to prevent insider trading on Capitol Hill — in addition to a fifth Republican who has already seen scrutiny for the same trading activity earlier this year. According to an analysis of financial disclosure documents compiled by Insider, the four members of Congress — Reps. John Rutherford of Florida, Rick Allen of Georgia, Mike Kelly of Pennsylvania and Victoria Spartz or Indiana — all failed to file paperwork for stock trades within the 45-day federal deadline required under the Stop Trading on Congressional Knowledge (STOCK) Act of 2012. In addition, Rep. Blake Moore of Utah missed the deadline by several days on at least three trades — two involving the electric car company Tesla and another involving Alibaba, the Chinese e-commerce giant — the second stock-trading scandal this year involving the freshman Congressman. The transactions Allen failed to report were by far the largest, worth as much as $200,000 in all. During...

Rep. Lee Zeldin, the front-runner for the 2022 GOP gubernatorial nomination in New York, didn't waste time on Tuesday linking Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul to embattled Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo. Minutes after the three-term governor announced that he would resign in the wake of a devastating report by the New York State Attorney General’s Office that Cuomo sexually harassed multiple women, Zeldin put out a statement arguing that the governor’s move to step down was long overdue and that "criminal repercussions must follow." KATHY HOCHUL TO BECOME NEW YORK'S FIRST FEMALE GOVERNOR AFTER CUOMO RESIGNS The four-term lawmaker, who represents New York's 1st Congressional District in the eastern half of Long Island, then charged that "unfortunately, for New Yorkers, we’re left with Cuomo’s Lieutenant who empowered this disgusting behavior while Andrew Cuomo cultivated this toxic culture, leaving a trail of victims in its wake. Kathy Hochul has been silent scandal after scandal, from fatal nursing home policies and coverups to rampant harassment, intimidation, bullying and abuse." Immediately following Cuomo’s announcement, Hochul put out a statement saying, "I agree with Governor...
A ruined California home that was engulfed by two fires and had part of its roof collapsed is now on sale for $850,000.  Although the fires left the Walnut Creek home gutted, the Zillow listing for the property calls the home a 'bare bones opportunity' to renovate, rebuilt or restore.  'This is more than a fixer, and the potential is limited only by imagination,' the listing says. An investigation by New York’s attorney general into misconduct from Gov. Andrew Cuomo has thrown the Democrat's future into doubt, despite him resisting calls to step down. New York Attorney General Letitia James said Tuesday that her investigators found Cuomo engaged in “unwelcome and non-consensual touching” and made “multiple offensive comments of a suggestive and sexual nature” to women who currently or previously worked for his state government. The revelations raised questions about where Cuomo, once considered a presidential contender, will go next. NEW YORK STATE ASSEMBLY LEADER SAYS CUOMO IMPEACHMENT INVESTIGATION WILL 'MOVE EXPEDITIOUSLY' Here are the paths Cuomo could take: IMPEACHMENT One scenario Cuomo could face is removal from office by New York’s Legislature. State lawmakers began an impeachment investigation of Cuomo on March 11, shortly after New York’s attorney general began her inquiry. The State Assembly Judiciary Committee began its investigation slowly, meeting only twice in the first two months of the process. That investigation, and the likely introduction of impeachment articles, will now hit a fast track as support for removing the governor has heated up,...

We might have found the new villain for season four of “Yellowstone.” According to Deadline, Piper Perabo is joining the cast of the hit Paramount Network show for the fourth season, and her role is described as, “a protester from Portland who is against the state funded police force that protects industrialized farming and the killing of animals.” (REVIEW: ‘Yellowstone’ Ends Season 3 With One Of The Greatest Cliffhangers In TV History)   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by Yellowstone (@yellowstone) While it’s not clear whether or not she’ll be an enemy of the Duttons, I think it’s reasonable to assume that someone looking to defund the police and attack farmers isn’t going to mesh well with John, Kayce and Rip. .@Yellowstone season four is still several months away, but @dhookstead thinks he’s already found a major spoiler. Getty Lamar Jackson evades some Chiefs defenders in 2019. Even at an advanced NFL age, Justin Houston would provide value to a Dallas Cowboys squad in perpetual assistance of defensive firepower. For that reason, Bleacher Report’s Brad Gagnon grouped the Cowboys among five “logical landing spots” for the four-time Pro Bowl free-agent edge rusher, along with the Miami Dolphins, Baltimore Ravens, Minnesota Vikings, and Kansas City Chiefs — Houston’s former team. Justin Houston might not have a whole lot left at age 32, but the four-time Pro Bowler has put up at least eight sacks in each of the last four seasons with the Chiefs and Colts. The key is you can no longer consider him an every-down player after he was on the field for just 59 percent of Indy’s defensive snaps despite starting 16 games in 2020. But there’s little reason to believe he can’t continue to serve as an effective situational pass-rusher for a contending team that has some money to spend on a short-term deal. Besides, he’s far from a liability, having missed just four tackles the last...
The Washington Nationals are surely concerned with Stephen Strasburg, as he’s had issues with his velocity in 2021.  What’s been going on with Stephen Strasburg this season? The star hurler has battled a shoulder injury this campaign for the Washington Nationals, which has had a negative impact on his velocity. That shoulder injury landed him on the Injured List earlier this year, as he’s only been able to make four starts. Well, Strasburg is on the bump on Tuesday going up against the Braves, but there’s already concern for him. Early on in the action, team trainers wasted no time in running out to go check in on him. After one batter and a four-pitch walk, Nationals trainers went out to check on Stephen Strasburg. pic.twitter.com/2MrbORJYaK — Bally Sports South (@BallySportsSO) June 1, 2021 The Nationals appear to be quite concerned with the status of Stephen StrasburgAs you can see in the video above, the trainers huddled around Strasburg in the bottom of the first while facing Atlanta. This came after the usually hard-throwing righty only faced one batter and...
Noah Syndergaard’s road back from Tommy John surgery has hit a snag. The Mets right-hander was removed from his rehab start Tuesday after an inning with “right elbow soreness,” the team said. Syndergaard was making the second start of his rehab assignment with Low-A St. Lucie, 14 months removed from the elbow surgery to repair a torn UCL. The Mets had targeted a mid-June return to the big leagues for Syndergaard, but that could be in jeopardy after Tuesday’s abbreviated start. Noah Syndergaard’s second rehab start ended quickly.Corey Sipkin In his first rehab start last Wednesday, Syndergaard threw four shutout innings with five strikeouts on 44 pitches. Tuesday, he was scheduled to throw another four innings, but threw just 16 pitches in his only inning, walking one and striking out one. Filed under new york mets ,  noah syndergaard ,  5/25/21
A "potential electrical issue" has forced major airlines to remove dozens of newly delivered 737 Max aircraft from service, CBS News has confirmed, a move that could result in a slew of canceled flights. The disruption comes in response to an announcement from Boeing's announcement this morning. The Seattle-based manufacturer recommends all 16 customers possessing "a specific group of 737 Max airplanes" with "specific tail numbers" address the problem before operating the aircraft. Boeing tells CBS News the problem was "discovered on a production plane" during manufacturing. In a statement to CBS News, the FAA confirmed it received word from Boeing Thursday night that an electrical complication could impact a "backup power control unit." "This potential issue was discovered on a production airplane during normal build activity," the company said in a statement. "We are informing our customers of specific tail numbers affected and our team is also addressing the issue with undelivered airplanes that are impacted." It's the latest challenge for the manufacturer and its 737 Max, which was banned for 20 months by the Federal Aviation Administration...
Taylor Hall is once again on the trade block. “He might be out,” Sabres interim head coach Don Granato said before his team suited up against the Devils on Monday night. “We still, undetermined yet. But it’s just part of it, it’s part of the business. Taylor knows that.” Well, when the lineup was announced, the winger was indeed out. With the NHL trade deadline less than a week away (April 12 at 3 p.m. ET), Hall was held out as a precaution to preserve his health and his trade value. The fact that Hall is available for the right asking price is not a surprise considering his tenure in Western New York has been, for lack of a better word, atrocious. In 37 games he collected two goals and 19 points. Yes, you’ve read that right, two goals in 37 games, and the first came on opening night. A European or even World War could be triggered in four in Ukraine after Russia dispatched 4,000 to the disputed border with its neighbour, warns an independent Russian military analyst.      It comes as social media footage footage shows suspected large scale Russian military movements in regions close to rebel-held eastern Ukraine and annexed Crimea. With tension sharply rising, analyst Pavel Felgenhauer, 69, said it now requires a 'psychoanalyst' to determine Russia's intentions in Ukraine but warned events could see 'war in a month'. The West has expressed alarm about Moscow's movement of troops and forces, and Felgenhauer says they are right to be concerned as unverified new footage appears to show military movements in Russia's Voronezh, Rostov and Krasnodar regions, along with key railway routes. 'The crisis has the potential to escalate into a pan-European war, if not even a world one,' Felgenhauer warned starkly in an interview with Rosbalt news outlet in Russia. 'But for now, potential. Will it happen or not? Let's wait and see. In the West, they don't know what to do about it.'

But the hitman is now expected to miss at least another month, impacting Bayern Munich’s season. It means Lewandowski will definitely miss both legs of the Champions League quarter-final against Paris Saint-Germain, who Bayern beat in last year’s August final. The Pole will also be sidelined for the crunch Bundesliga title clash against RB Leipzig, with just four points currently separating them in the table. Should Bayern beat PSG, they would face either Man City or Borussia Dortmund in the semis. The exact first leg date is yet to be confirmed, but it will definitely be played in April. WEST HAM winger Jarrod Bowen faces a potential FA rap - after an N-word tweet from 2012 was discovered. Bowen was just 15 at the time and on the books of Hereford Town when he posted the comment. 4Jarrod Bowen faces a potential FA rap after he tweeted the N-word in 2012Credit: Rex 4This was the tweet sent out by Bowen when he was a youngster at Hereford FA disciplinary beaks were alerted to the social media posting on Thursday evening and plan to contact Bowen. Previous historic messages have led to fines and bans for players. But as Bowen was still a schoolboy at the time it is more likely he will receive no more than a warning and reminder from the FA. One of the most shocking cases of historic tweets came from Watford striker Andre Gray. In 2012 he had written on the social network: "Is it me or are there gays everywhere?" Any doubts over the 25-year-old's meaning were surely ended when he added: "#Burn #Die #MakesMeSick." Openly-gay rugby referee Nigel Owens hit back: "It's your...
Former San Francisco 49ers quarterback C.J. Beathard signed a two-year contract with Jacksonville on Wednesday, giving the Jaguars an experienced backup if they trade Gardner Minshew. The deal is worth $5 million and could total more with incentives, according to a person with knowledge of negotiations. The person spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity because contract details had not been released publicly. NFL Network first reported contract terms. CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM Responding to a question about Minshew potentially being on the block last week, Jaguars coach Urban Meyer said "at this point, no." Signing Beathard could change that. He started 12 games over four years in San Francisco, throwing for 3,469 yards, with 18 touchdown passes and 13 interceptions. He was a third-round draft pick from Iowa in 2017. NFL. Jacksonville is expected to select Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence with the No. 1 overall pick in next month's NFL draft. The Jaguars also have 2020 sixth-round pick Jake Luton on the roster. Luton started three games as a rookie, finishing with...

His stints in Memphis and Houston at the start of his career ended on sour notes. Since coming to Toronto, he's become an All-Star and champion, but after eight and a half seasons, it is time for the team to move on. Keith Pompey of the Philly Inquirer has reported that a source says the Raptors want to reward Lowry by sending him somewhere he'll have a chance to win another title. So where could that be? Pomroy mentioned three destinations and I've picked out one more that could be interesting. More than 100 candidates have expressed interest in running for governor during the Gavin Newsom recall, according to the California GOP. Although it is early days, some high-profile names have been linked to the job, although there is always the chance of a big-name late star entrant throwing their hat in the ring. California, has, after all, sent two Hollywood actors to the governor's mansion in Sacramento. Here are just some of potential candidates so far. John Cox Cox was the GOP candidate in the 2020 election, which Newsom won by 32% of the vote. Although he received high-profile endorsements such as former President Donald Trump, Newt Gingrich, and Rep. Kevin McCarthy, the California Republican Party did not endorse Cox in the race. The end result was a low-profile campaign with limited funds. His platform was similar to Trump’s: low taxes, less regulation, and better infrastructure. Cox is a businessman, attorney, and accountant. His political career began in 1976, when he ran to be a delegate in the Democratic National Convention. He switched party affiliations in the 1980s...

Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports Griffin, 31, is averaging what would be a career-low 12.3 points to go with 5.2 rebounds and 3.9 assists on a mere 37% from the field this season. It could soon lead to a divorce between Griffin and the Pistons, too. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported on Monday that Griffin will be benched from the Pistons’ lineup as the team sifts through potential trade and buyout options. “The Pistons will continue to pursue trade scenarios involving Griffin, and talks on a contract buyout with his agent, Sam Goldfeder of Excel Sports, could eventually come into focus,” the NBA insider reported. Given Griffin’s bloated contract, a trade seems highly unlikely. He’s set to...
