Friends and family of Bruce Willis believe that a head injury he suffered on the set of the 2002 action movie Tears of the Sun could be the cause of the debilitating brain disease that has ended his career, but a special effects worker on the movie denied the claim. Family - including ex-wife Demi Moore, current wife Emma Heming and daughter Rumer Willis - announced on Wednesday that the 'Die Hard' actor was diagnosed with aphasia, a neuro-cognitive disorder that effects the sufferers ability to speak and understand language. As a result, Willis was 'stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him.' An unnamed friend told The Sun that his family believes that the disability could be linked to a hit he took to the head on the action-rescue film. Willis sued the production company, Revolution Studio, and the action movie's special effects professional Joe Pancake in 2004, claiming he had suffered 'substantial mental and physical injuries' after he had been hit by a 'squib' - a special effects explosive meant to look like the impact...

For many adults, the childlike ability to be spooked in a haunted house is no more than a fond memory.  But according to a new scientific study, the trick to being scared by this classic theme park attraction is visiting with friends. Researchers have found that adult visitors to haunted houses are more likely to experience fear responses including dilated pupils, sweating and rapid heartbeats when attending in a group.  It's thought that among a group, fear may spread like wildfire to a threat, like a herd of wildebeests being preyed upon by a lion in the wild.  The visitors were tested to their limits at 17th Door Haunted House, an extreme attraction that tests 'fight-or-flight' responses in Fullerton, California.  Haunted house visitors are more likely to experience dilated pupils, sweating, and a rapid heartbeat when attending in a group, the study reveals. Side by side to watch the post-wedding fireworks soar over Windsor Castle, Prince Charles had a glint in his eye as he turned to the newly married Prince Harry. 'Who's paying for all this,' he asked? To which Harry replied: 'You are, pa.' It was not a typical exchange between father and younger son, but it was characteristic. Unlike his awkward and tense relationship with Prince William, Charles enjoyed a closeness with Harry that he treasured. His quip about the cost of the lavish pyrotechnics was not the only moment on that spring afternoon in 2018 that the Prince of Wales had drawn a warm smile of thanks from Harry. An earlier moment came when he guided the veiled Meghan down the last part of the St George's Chapel aisle to his son's side. These were the days when Charles was generous in his terms of endearment, often referring publicly to his son as 'dear boy' and 'darling boy'. How tragic, then, that just three and a half years later, father and son are said to be barely on speaking...

Missouri residents are allegedly wearing disguises and getting COVID-19 vaccines in secret in fear of blowback from members of their communities. Dr Priscilla Frase, who works at Ozarks Healthcare, a hospital in West Plains - 200 miles southwest of St Louis - told ABC News that many patients do not want their family and friends to know they got the shots. The medical center is now offering to give the vaccines in a private setting to patients who request it. Dylan Redwine disappeared during a visit with his father in 2012.  Dylan Redwine did not want to visit his father over the 2012 Thanksgiving holiday but couldn’t avoid the court-ordered trip, his childhood friends testified Tuesday during the murder trial of Mark Redwine, who is accused of killing his 13-year-old son on the first night of his stay. One by one on the first day of testimony, Dylan’s friends — tweens when Dylan disappeared nearly a decade ago, but now in their early 20s — described how Dylan spent what prosecutors say was his final day alive. Dylan had a sleepover and hung out with friends in the Colorado Springs area before he flew to Durango on Nov. 18, 2012, and he made plans to get out of his father’s house as soon as he could, testimony revealed. Mark Redwine, 59, is charged with second-degree murder and child abuse in Dylan’s death. The boy was reported missing Nov. 19, 2012 — the day after Dylan arrived to stay at his father’s house for the holiday. His disappearance prompted an extensive...
He famously portrayed Chandler Bing in the classic sitcom friends for a decade, bowing out from his beloved role when the show ended in 2004. But while Matthew Perry's character raised the laughs onscreen, it has been a starkly different – and far more dramatic – life off-screen for the star, whose numerous troughs and peaks have been well documented over the years. Born in Massachusetts and raised north of the border in Canada's capital Ottawa, the actor, 51, was the focus of a series of headlines during much of his time on Friends, stemming largely from his hard-fought battle with drug addiction. Ups and downs: While Friends favourite Matthew Perry has raised the laughs onscreen, it has been a starkly different – and far more dramatic – life off-screen for the star Back in 1997, when his NBC sitcom was already flying high as a bona fide hit, the star was injured in a jet-ski accident – an already harrowing incident that led to the genesis of a far darker force as he became dependent on powerful painkiller Vicodin. When David Berkowitz – known as the Son of Sam – was arrested on August 10, 1977, New York City breathed once again. With random shootings and killings in the Bronx, Queens and Brooklyn, the fear that tightly gripped a city already plagued with crime dissipated. His summer reign of terror was over. Berkowitz confessed, pleaded guilty to six murders and wounding seven others, and was sent to prison. Case closed. But a new Netflix docuseries, The Sons of Sam: A Descent into Darkness, examines the official and accepted story that Berkowitz acted alone and points to discrepancies in sketches based on witnesses' statements. 'Some witnesses say he had curly hair, others, straight hair, and the most recent, light hair,' according to a news report at the time. Michael Zuckerman, a former reporter that investigated the case, said that after Berkowitz's arrest, some noted that the sketches didn't add up. 'The police dismissed it, saying, you know, "Oh, eyewitnesses are frequently wrong." In my experience, eyewitnesses are wrong within a certain range,' Zuckerman said in the docuseries. 'You're not going...

After her father passed away in January, Ming Luo promised her mother that she’d try to visit more often. They’re far apart — Luo lives in Palo Alto and her mother in Chengdu, China — and Luo stays in touch through video calls on China’s ubiquitous messaging app WeChat. “We’ll chat about everything,” she said. “It’s become very essential for me, and for her too because she is 75 this year. … We cannot travel easily to see each other and also it’s pretty lonely.” Now, Luo is not sure how much longer she’ll be able to stay in touch. An executive order from the Trump administration last week imposed restrictions on WeChat and fellow Chinese-owned social media app TikTok due to national security concerns. The president’s directive targets “transactions” with WeChat, and it’s uncertain how an interpretation of the order, due in late September, will affect access in this country.
