(CNN)I live in Austin, Texas, where the school district is just one of several across the state defying Governor Greg Abbott's executive order prohibiting government entities from requiring face masks. Stephen I. VladeckI also teach at the University of Texas, where in-person classes start next Wednesday. Thanks to Abbott, the school is not allowed to require students to be vaccinated or to wear masks. We're not even allowed to ask our students if they are vaccinated. Meanwhile, the 11-county area around and including the city of Austin had a grand total of four ICU beds left as of Thursday. When I read that Abbott tested positive for Covid-19 on Tuesday, I didn't see it as karma, like so many others did. I felt no schadenfreude. I didn't even find it galling that Abbott, who is asymptomatic and fully vaccinated, would receive monoclonal antibody treatment. I don't begrudge those who are sick for pursuing all measures legally available to get better -- even though I wish everyone else had the same access to advanced care and treatments as our elected leaders....

Richardson has yet to comment on the test result, but tweeted 'I am human' earlier on Thursday afternoon, which appeared to allude to the scandal.  Her Olympics-qualifying performance - which saw Richardson run 100 meters in 10.86 seconds in Eugene, Oregon, last month has been provisionally disqualified.   It remains unclear when Richardson took the drugs test that she later failed. Instagram sensation Yovanna Ventura gave off distinct goddess vibes in order to wow her 5.3 million followers with her latest update. The post, which went live on Sunday, January 18, featured the model wearing a teeny bikini as she gave herself some positive self-talk and declared herself to be unworldly. In a series of poses, Yovanna flaunted her flawless figure while wearing a strappy bathing suit. Featuring an intricate black-and-white pattern, the swimwear also showed off plenty of skin. Various straps crisscrossed her chest and did up in the middle, leaving a long section dangling down over her midriff. In several of the photos, some of her underboob could be seen thanks to the skimpy cut. The first snap saw Yovanna standing tall, her arms delicately brushing her dark locks out of her face as she looked at something that was off-screen. Her hair was parted in the middle and several sections were braided. The shot was relatively close-up and, because of this, only her face and torso could be seen. The second picture, however, showed off Yovanna’s entire body...

While the presentation of actual sports games haven't taken too much of a hit during this pandemic, I will say I'm very ready to get back to watching in-person drafts. LAUSANNE, Switzerland (AP) — Peruvian swimmer Mauricio Fiol has been banned for eight years for doping with steroids ahead of a planned comeback from a first ban to compete at his home Pan-American Games. Swimming’s governing body FINA said Fiol tested positive for the anabolic steroid stanozolol in six different samples taken between June 30 and Sept. 17 last year. FINA’s doping panel counted the tests as a single violation. He tested positive for the same steroid at the 2015 Pan Am Games and was stripped of his silver medal in the 200 meters butterfly. He would have been eligible to compete at the 2019 Pan Am Games in Lima after completing a four-year ban, but was provisionally suspended ahead of the event. FINA said the 26-year-old Fiol is now banned until Aug. 2, 2027. ___ More AP sports: https://apnews.com/apf-sports and https://twitter.com/AP_Sports Copyright © 2020 The Associated Press.
