The Colorado Secretary of State has ordered a recount of Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert's congressional race — even though the Democratic candidate has conceded defeat. The controversial Republican hardliner leads Democrat Adam Frisch by just 550 votes. That is less than the 0.5 percentage point margin required by Colorado law, automatically triggering a recount. And it reflects something of an upset in a race that was supposed to be a foregone conclusion after redistricting made Boebert's district more Republican. Sectetary of State Jena Griswold made the announcement more than three weeks after voting ended in Colorado's third congressional district. 'I am ordering a mandatory recount of the CD-3 race, as required by Colorado law,' she posted on Twitter. 'All counties within CD-3 have been notified to begin preparations to proceed with the recount which must be completed by Tuesday, December 13, 2022, as required by statute.' Republican Rep. Laurent Boebert holds a lead of just 550 votes over Democratic challenger Adam Frisch, a former city councilman, out of more than 327,000 votes cast  The margin is less that 0.05 percent...
Mariah Carey is known as the Queen of Christmas, but this holiday season she's offering fans a gift that seems more like a trick than a treat as she prepares to open the doors to her apartment - which she won't even be at - for a few festivities.  While the idea of enjoying a weekend getaway inside the 52-year-old's New York penthouse might seem like a dream come true... the fine print tells a very different story.  The songbird teamed up with Booking.com to give two fans the opportunity to jet off to New York City for a weekend getaway and even stay at her Tribeca penthouse - however, the 'lucky' people are only allowed in three rooms and the singer won't even be in attendance, making their Christmas experience slightly less jolly.  Because the trip - which will take place between December 16 and December 19 and cost $20.19 - is curated by the popstar diva herself, it of course comes with a lengthy list of rules that may leave fans feeling the like the singer has transformed into...
Herschel Walker is now suggesting the souls of Georgians are in the balance, and if they don’t elect him to the U.S Senate they will not even “have a chance to be redeemed,” a Christian religious belief about being delivered from sin by God. Walker is also suggesting his right-wing son, who turned against him this week after reports he paid for an abortion, is a member of “the left.” Appearing on Fox News Wednesday, Walker told host Brian Kilmeade, “If we vote for the people on the left, like the guy I’m running against,” Democratic U.S. Senator Raphael Warnock, “you’re not going to have a chance to be redeemed. He’s a minister and he don’t believe in redemption.” “Right now, they’re trying to destroy America, they’re trying to destroy Georgia. It ain’t gonna happen on my watch,” the Trump-endorsed GOP nominee said. Kilmeade asked the embattled Senate GOP candidate why his son, Christian Walker, is “doing tremendous damage to you.” READ MORE: Herschel Walker Raked in Hundreds of Thousands of Dollars Giving Paid Speeches While a Candidate for Senate:...
Investors should continue to shun money-losing companies, CNBC's Jim Cramer said Thursday, contending the turbulence that dominated earlier this year has returned with vigor. "It's an unforgiving time. We're back to the dynamic that defined January through mid-June," the "Mad Money" host said. "So don't be a hero right now, because there's no telling how low some of these unprofitable stocks can go, but be happy that we're so oversold that the good stocks are going to start winning."related investing news4 takeaways from the Investing Club’s ‘Morning Meeting’ on ThursdayKevin Stankiewicz8 hours agoWe're making a buy in this down market but also a rare small saleJeff MarksJim Cramera day agoCramer's comments Thursday came on the heels of a mixed session for U.S. stocks. The Dow Jones Industrial Average and S&P 500 overcame selling earlier in the day to finish higher, snapping four-day losing streaks. The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite, however, declined 0.3%. The first time I used a clarifying shampoo was during my senior year of high school after I had attempted to go cherry red without being mentally and emotionally prepared for such a stark change—I had been faithful to my natural dirty blonde hair jazzed up with a few not-so-natural golden highlights to frame my face. After removing the towel from my damp Ariel-hued locks, I burst in tears before darting to my computer to look for quick fixes that promised to fade the vibrant red to, at least, maybe a tomato-red until I could get some professional help. Ultimately, I ended up going with straight-up dish soap, a DIY remedy that I discovered on a pre-Reddit-era message board, which worked fairly well but left my mane dry, damaged, and broken—and I hadn’t even used bleach! It finally dawned on me that taming the red was going to be a process, so I invested in a well-reviewed clarifying shampoo and committed to using it three times a week to preserve the health of my hair while gradually dulling the cherry-ness...
Source: Getty Images June's headline consumer price index is expected to have been even hotter than May's report, but consumer inflation may have finally peaked given the decline in oil and gasoline prices in July. Headline CPI is expected to rise by 1.1%, compared with 1% in May, according to Dow Jones. On a year-over-year basis, CPI is seen rising by 8.8%, up from May's 8.6%, the highest since 1981. Core inflation, on the other hand, is expected to continue to cool, slowing now for a third month. Excluding energy and food, June's core CPI was expected to rise 0.5%, compared with 0.6% in May. That would be a 5.7% year-over-year jump in June, down from 6% in May. Core CPI peaked at 6.5% in March. CPI is reported at 8:30 a.m. ET Wednesday. While economists expect June may finally be the hottest month for headline consumer inflation, they also caution that it will depend on what happens to energy prices, and that remains an unknown. Since the beginning of the month, West Texas Intermediate oil futures have fallen 9%,...
Eric Adams has warned New Yorkers that they should be 'very afraid' of what will happen in their city if the Supreme Court strikes down a long-held state law requiring gun owners to have a license in order to carry a firearm.  America's highest court - which has come under fire in recent weeks for a leaked draft that would overturn women's federal abortion rights - is expected to issue a decision in the case, brought by a New York gun group that wants the permit law repealed, in the coming weeks. The law the group seeks to repeal took effect in 1911, and requires licenses for New Yorkers to possess firearms small enough to be concealed.  During a press conference in Harlem Thursday, Adams told reporters that he suspects the court will toss the century-old gun guidance. 'After what we saw the Supreme Court did on abortion,' Adams said, 'we should be very afraid.' An $800,000 home has hit the market in Fairfax, Virginia — and it comes with its very own squatter. The listing for the five-bedroom, three-bathroom house has baffled social media users with its bizarre warning that any buyer will have to agree to have someone living on the lower level — with no lease. In fact, the listing warns that despite the more than three-quarters-of-a-million price, a new buyer will have no access to see the lower level at all, and will presumably have no recourse in getting the downstairs 'neighbor' to ever leave. NASA has its eye on a lot of large asteroids that regularly make 'close approaches' to Earth. Although a big space rock isn't expected to hit Earth any time soon, Nasa has criteria for what would be considered a deadly asteroid. 1An asteroid doesn't have to be obscenely large to cause a lot of damageCredit: Getty How big is a killer asteroid? Thousands of space rocks are said to rip through Earth's atmosphere almost everyday. We don't notice most of them because they're small and burn up before they reach the ground. An asteroid would need to be a certain size to break through our atmosphere's natural defense system. Even women trying to have children should be told to avoid smoking cannabis over fears it may raise the risk of birth defects, experts said today.  NHS bosses and other health agencies across the world already say mothers-to-be should steer clear of the drug. But now scientists at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai say consumption may be 'inadvisable' even for women trying to get pregnant. The warning comes on the heels of a study on pregnant mice, which saw academics purposely expose them to THC. THC is chemical component of cannabis responsible for giving people the sensation of feeling 'high'. A study on mice found that some could develop a brain and face defect in the womb when exposed to THC a finding that prompted the scientists in the study to warn women trying to conceive about the possible danger of using the drug  RELATED ARTICLES Previous 1 Next Revealed - the Harley Street doctors charging for cannabis... The highly contagious mutant strain of the coronavirus that was first detected in the United Kingdom and has since spread to other countries including the United States may have been circulating in America since as early as October. The suggested finding is the result of a re-analysis of some 2 million tests examining the so-called B117 variant, according to the Guardian. Researchers conducted genome sequencing to confirm if a variant similar to the B117 variant of the coronavirus, which has been found in patients in Colorado, California, and Florida, is the same as the one circulating in the UK. The data suggests that the variant may have already been present in the US at undetectable levels in recent months. ‘It wouldn’t be at all surprising if at least some of the cases were B117,’ said Eric Topol, head of Scripps Research Translational Institute in La Jolla, Californi. Topol’s team on Wednesday confirmed that at least one coronavirus infection in California was caused by the mutant strain. A potential COVID-19 patient who was administered oxygen is loaded into an ambulance...
After the longest season and the shortest offseason in NBA history, the champion Los Angeles Lakers are back at work with two content superstars, a younger lineup around them — and a steady confidence they can do it all again. The Lakers seem confident and collected as they head into team workouts this weekend, about eight weeks after they finished off the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals on Oct. 11. A distinct lack of vacation time aside, Los Angeles begins the new season in an apparently stellar position. LeBron James and Anthony Davis extended their commitments to the Lakers earlier this week, and they'll lead a slightly reconfigured roster that looks even better than last season's squad with NBA veterans Dennis Schröder, Montrezl Harrell, Marc Gasol and Wesley Matthews. President Donald Trump attacked his former Defense Secretary James Mattis after Mattis torched his own administration's 'America First' policy and urged Joe Biden's team to get rid of it. Trump tweeting against the retired Marine general just hours after he came close to conceding the election by allowing saying he instructed the General Services Agency to begin a transition – setting in place procedures that ultimately will put Joe Biden's administration in place to begin carving out its own foreign policy. The president tweeted out a Fox News article about Mattis' denunciation of the Trump administration's policy calling card, even after repeatedly attacking the network over its coverage and polls.  Former U.S. Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis helped pen an article arguing that 'America First' is 'America Alone' 'That says it all about Mattis. Obama fired him. I should have fired him sooner. Did best work after he was gone. World's most overrated general!' Trump wrote. Mattis resigned in December 2018 after a clash over suddenly pulling U.S. troops out of Syria.  'Because you have the right to have...
Longmont will soon allow medical marijuana delivery by approved dispensaries, and they don't even have to be located there. Approved unanimously by the Longmont City Council on October 13, the new ordinance allows medical dispensaries to start delivering within the town starting on October 26. But it may take longer before patients will actually see medication being dropped off at their doors. While marijuana stores don't need to be located within Longmont city limits to qualify for this new program, they must be licensed for delivery by the state Marijuana Enforcement Division as well as the City of Longmont. Although there are several medical dispensaries located nearby in unincorporated Boulder County, there is only one licensed medical dispensary, Twin Peaks, in Longmont.
