The British Army's Twitter account was hacked today and flooded with content promoting giveaways and competitions for followers to win non-fungible tokens (NFTs).  The social media account's name was changed several times, while new profile pictures included an ape wearing facepaint akin to that of Batman villain The Joker, as well as a cartoon robot. Posts made from the account urged followers to join competitions, with winners selected at random to receive NFTs - digital artworks that are stored on the blockchain. British Army's YouTube channel was also compromised and replaced with an account named Ark Invest, which promoted several live videos purporting to display an interview with Tesla founder Elon Musk about cryptocurrency.  The party behind the cyber attacks is not yet known, but the embarrassing breach raises serious security concerns for the armed forces and suggests that other social media accounts could be at risk. An Army spokesperson said: 'We are aware of a breach of the Army's Twitter and YouTube accounts and an investigation is underway. 'We take information security extremely seriously and are resolving the issue....
The messaging application Slack is fast becoming a hotspot for employees to land new jobs. The platform, owned by Salesforce, was originally designed to help workers interact with each other inside their specific company's digital workplace, but that's not what an increasing number of job hunters are using it for. The digital workspace tool also allows users to start independent channels with other people who aren't necessarily working for the same company. These channels, which are flooded with career tips, advice and potential employers, are often private, and require an invitation in order to join them.  Now, many job-hunters are using these channels instead of going through the traditional online job-application processes of applying to postings on websites and apps, including LinkedIn, Indeed or ZipRecruiter.  'It was nuts,' Clark Barron told the Wall Street Journal.  He added that he was able to find his new role at Nisos - a cyber-intelligence and security company based in D.C. - after joining the Cybersecurity Marketing Society, a Slack group channel founded in March 2020.  Slack, which is an acronym standing for 'Searchable...
A MUM was moved to tears after seeing the huge amount of junk she had managed to squeeze in her family's three-bedroom semi on Nick Knowles' Big House Clearout. With her husband Ian working full-time, mum-of-three Georgie, who also works two days a week, had found it a near-impossible mission to spend quality time with her partner - let alone sort out the family home in Farnborough, Hampshire. 5The family has three kids - and more than a thousand toysCredit: Channel 5 5Putting everyone else first, the mum had no time left for herselfCredit: Channel 5 The never-ending chaos in virtually every corner had also made the mum quite emotional, as has she had nowhere to call her own space at the end of the exhausting day. On the Channel 5 show, which airs on Thursday at 8pm in the evening, the parents admitted they did not expect to suddenly have a set of twins join their son - and with two more children, there, of course, was now double the amount of clothes and toys. ''It affected everything about us,'' said...
Metaverse has been branded an 'online Wild West' by child safety campaigners after Channel 4's Dispatches uncovered evidence of sexual abuse and racism in the virtual reality world. An investigation has revealed that sexually explicit comments and threatening behaviour were made minutes after a Channel 4 journalist went undercover into Mark Zuckerberg's 3D community. Led by the Facebook founder, the Metaverse is a set of virtual spaces where you can game, work and communicate with other people who aren't in the same physical space as you. Users' avatars are able to explore the online world and meet, interact and visit a fast-growing network of virtual locations such as cities, country scenes or cafes. But the new technology has faced accusations over a lack of safeguarding and moderation, with mother Nina Jane Patel claiming she was sexually assaulted less than a minute after entering the virtual online world earlier this year. The Center for Countering Digital Hate also earlier found that users, including minors, 'are exposed to abusive behaviour every seven minutes'. Now a Channel 4 probe has raised further concern over...

David Bowie's son has hit out at RT for quoting his late father - and produced the 'perfect comeback', according to Twitter users. Duncan Jones took to the social media platform after the state-backed Russian broadcaster tweeted a story about NASA with the caption 'Ground control to Major Tom'. The lyric is from Bowie's 1969 hit Space Oddity, and Mr Jones was seemingly less than impressed by the channel, formerly known as Russia Today, referencing his father's work. He swiftly replied, quoting the tweet and simply writing: 'Wrong song' alongside a Ukrainian flag and two heart emojis, as well as an image of poignant lyrics from another Bowie classic Heroes (1977). Fox hauled 29 percent of the liberal audience compared to 24 percent for CNN, according to averages from April to August. MSNBC captured the majority of liberals with a 46 percent share. A whopping 62 percent of the conservative audience was held by Fox, compared to 24 percent for MSNBC and just 14 percent for CNN, according to data from Nielson/MRI Fusion. (CNN)Hours before the first rockets were fired toward Jerusalem two weeks ago, the bloc of political parties trying to oust long-term Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu from power was cautiously optimistic. The group, led by former TV anchor Yair Lapid of the centrist Yesh Atid party, would be able to form a government within a week or two, or so they thought. But then just after 6 p.m. on May 10, Hamas militants fired a barrage of rockets from Gaza into Israel, setting off air raid sirens not heard in Jerusalem for years. Soon after, Israel launched airstrikes against what it said were militant targets in Gaza. A bloody 11-day conflict was set in motion and the landscape of Israeli politics shifted. Two days later, Naftali Bennett, the leader of the small right wing party Yamina, announced he could no longer negotiate with Lapid's "change" coalition, because it would rely on the participation of a small Islamist party called Ra'am. Without Bennett, Lapid's bloc would be short of the numbers needed to form a government. Yair Lapid gets mandate to try...

Sports have had a hard time of it this year. Granted, everyone and everything on Earth has had a hard time of it this year. By Khaleel Hayes This summer, Denver's Phamaly Theatre Company had big plans to produce Alice in Wonderland, with original music by rapper Kalyn Heffernan of Wheelchair Sports Camp. Those were scuttled when COVID-19 forced artistic director Regan Linton and managing director Sasha Hutchings to postpone. Now, like most theater groups, the company, whose name stands for Physically Handicapped Amateur Music Actors League, is trying to figure out how to continue offering productions and stay afloat through coronavirus closures. Part of carrying on is finding a new way to host the troupe's annual fundraiser, Phamaly’s Big Night, which will take place virtually at 7 p.m. on Saturday, October 18. The company hopes to raise at least $180,000 to make up for lost revenue. But while donations are encouraged, the fundraiser is free and will stream live on Phamaly’s YouTube channel. LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - NOVEMBER 02: Demi Lovato speaks on stage at the Teen Vogue Summit 2019 at Goya Studios on November 02, 2019 in Los Angeles, California. (Photo by Rich Fury/Getty Images for Teen Vogue) Here We Go Again revealed the budding artistry of Demi Lovato while still tenured at the Disney Channel. Demi Lovato always felt out of place on the Disney Channel. Out of her fellow contemporaries who also rose to fame on the squeaky-clean “La La Land” machine, Lovato appeared to have the strongest sense of individuality and point of view. She didn’t fit into the molds they tried to push her into and never watered herself down. From the moment we met her in Camp Rock, her voice — both musically and otherwise — set her apart from the teen multi-hyphenates aiming for longevity. Here We Go Again isn’t a perfect album, and it’s not even the best Demi Lovato album. However, it’s strong. Without this safe yet ambitious second step in her discography, we might not have taken her boldest post-Disney Channel moves, like...
Migration Watch UK has issued a report that predicts that the number of illegal boat migrants entering the United Kingdom will be more than 7,500 by the end of the year, as Home Secretary Priti Patel backs away from her pledge to make illegal migration an “infrequent phenomenon”. Illegal boat migration across the English Channel has increased in the first six months of 2020, with at least 2,400 migrants successfully reaching British shores since the beginning of the year, four times the 600 migrants that came during the same period in 2019. The London-based think tank Migration Watch UK said in a report that if this trend continues, by Christmas nearly 7,600 illegal migrants will have entered the country, compared to the 1,900 that came in 2019. The migration pressure group also noted that the figures only reflect those boat migrants that were actually detected by migration officials, meaning that in reality, the numbers are likely higher. On Monday, Home Secretary Priti Patel told the Press Association that there were “far too many crossings”. When asked if there was a...
