DENVER(CBS)- Our current weather pattern is in the process of setting up what may be several days of critical fire danger across many areas of Colorado including the Denver metro area to start on Monday. On the big weather map we have a strong ridge of high pressure out east that is going to back up the west to east flow across the nation thru most of the week ahead. (credit: CBS) This will keep a digging low pressure trough over the west coast with wind producing jet stream diving in between right into the Central Rockies. The nose of the jet will be pushing into the state overnight Sunday into Monday. The pressure gradient between the trough and the ridge along with the strong upper level winds will enhance the gusts over most of the region. There are wind advisories posted for western areas thru Monday morning for wind gust up to 70 mph. (credit: CBS) Along with the West there are High Wind Warnings for parts of the central and southern mountains for wind gusts 70 to 85 mph...

The last time the Chiefs played the Steelers in the playoffs, Tyreek Hill was a wide-eyed rookie wide receiver, Chris Jones was learning the ropes at defensive tackle and Travis Kelce was only just becoming one of the league's best tight ends. Oh, and Patrick Mahomes was still in college. CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM In retrospect, it wasn't all that surprising the Chiefs lost on that cold January night in 2017, when Pittsburgh won 18-16 despite never reaching the end zone. Kansas City had won just one playoff game since 1994, and hadn't won one at home in nearly three decades, while the Steelers rolled into town with a bunch of postseason experience. Fast forward five years and the Chiefs are the ones with all the experience. They've been to the last two Super Bowls. The last three AFC title games. And that team that couldn't win a playoff game at home has won five straight, a franchise record it hopes to extend when the Chiefs play Pittsburgh again Sunday night. "To be able to know...

Rain and snow will develop in the mountains of western Colorado around sunset and it should become widespread overnight. Saturday will feature increasing cloud cover from the west as the next storm approaches the state. It will arrive sometime during the middle to late part of the afternoon and should produce mountain wind and snow by Saturday night. It is a fast-moving system so by Sunday afternoon skies should begin to clear. Mountain snow totals will be on the light side with mostly 1 to 4 inch totals above 8,000 feet. By The Associated Press LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Latest on the Golden Globe ceremony (all times local): 8:05 p.m. “Nomadland” has come in from the desert to take the Golden Globe for best picture in the drama category. The film, a prime candidate for a best-picture Oscar, took home two Globes on Sunday night in the most atypical of years, where the pandemic had a major effect on the scaled-back, bi-coastal ceremony and on the films released. Earlier, Chloe Zhao became the first woman of Asian descent to win the Golden Globe for best director for the film. “Nomadland” follows a woman, played by Frances McDormand, who leaves her small town to join a group of wanderers in the American West. It beat out fellow nominees “Mank,” “The Father,” “The Trial of the Chicago 7” and “Promising Young Woman.” Accepting the best picture award, Zhao paid tribute to all those who have been on difficult journeys, quoting a line from the film: “We don’t say goodbye, we say see you down the road.” ___ 8:00 p.m. Andra Day was...

Facing Urgent Choices. Climate experts point to some signs of hope, but add: ‘That is not nearly enough’: [...] Five years ago, as negotiations for the Paris climate agreement ran into overtime, lights on the Eiffel Tower cut through the fog, signaling the urgency of reaching an accord: No Plan B, they cautioned. Five years later, the global pact, signed by 197 countries, is still the only plan on the table, barring a wholesale move to another planet. It formally recognizes the serious threat of global warming and identifies solutions to prevent the worst-case outcome by capping warming at close to 1.5 degrees Celsius. That would require decarbonizing global energy, transportation and food systems by 2050, a monumental challenge. But the agreement is more than just a nuts and bolts instruction manual. DENVER (CBS4) – A fast-moving cold front blasted across Colorado overnight with some gusty wind and a few areas of light snow. Most of that was confined to the higher terrain where a few ski areas in the northern and central mountains picked up a little accumulation. Behind last night’s cold front we will see two more cross the state during the week ahead. The next one will arrive tonight into Monday with colder temperatures and widespread mountain snow. The third one should be here sometime around New Year’s Day. The heaviest totals from our next weather maker will come out of the San Juan Mountains in southwest Colorado where totals could be measured in feet for places like Purgatory and Wolf Creek. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for that part of the state. The rest of Colorado’s high country will see totals under a foot but there could be isolated pockets that get close to that mark. At this time there are no additional weather advisories in effect but that could...

Just two years ago, the Bears won the NFC North and then-first-year head coach Matt Nagy was recognized as AP Coach of the Year. Oh, how things have changed. Following a lopsided 41-25 loss to the Packers on Sunday, Nagy was fielding questions about his job security and the team appears to be bubbling over with frustration. “No, I’m not,” he told reporters when asked if he was concerned about keeping his job. Since beginning the season at 5-1, the Bears have lost five straight. Three of those games — Sunday night’s loss to the Packers and Monday night defeats to the Vikings and Rams — have been in primetime. Another loss to the Saints was the national game in the late afternoon Sunday slot. And, as is almost always the case in Chicago, the offense — Nagy’s speciality — has been the biggest culprit. Chicago currently ranks 31st in total offense, trailing only the winless Jets. Nagy relinquished play-calling duties to offensive coordinator Bill Lazor two games ago, but the results have remained the same. “S–t embarrassing,” wide receiver...

SpaceX is aiming to launch four astronauts to the the International Space Station on Sunday evening, barring any weather complications. The historic joint spaceflight between NASA and Elon Musk’s company was rescheduled to Sunday at 7:27 p.m. — but officials said there was still just a 50-50 chance conditions would be clear enough for the planned liftoff. Vice President Mike Pence was expected at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida for the launch, which will mark the long-awaited start of regular crew rotations aboard privately owned and operated capsules. The mission, dubbed “Crew-1,” will be the culmination of a NASA program that has sought to send astronauts to the space station using vessels and equipment developed by private companies. It comes just three months after a pair of NASA test pilots successfully concluded SpaceX’s first occupied flight of a Dragon crew capsule. The crew for Sunday’s flight will be led by astronaut Mike Hopkins, an Air Force colonel, and includes physicist Shannon Walker, Japanese astronaut Soichi Noguchi and Navy Cmdr. and rookie astronaut Victor Glover, who will be...
NOVATO (CBS SF) — One person was killed Sunday night when a car crashed through a gate on rural Bel Marin Keys Boulevard southeast of Novato and submerged into a canal, according to the California Highway Patrol. The CHP said the first call reporting the crash came in about 8:45 p.m. The caller reported the crash about a mile south of state Highway 37 and two miles east of U.S. Highway 101. CHP Officer Andrew Barclay said a dive team was called to the scene to determine whether anyone was in the completely submerged vehicle. Divers found a person dead, still inside the car. The Marin County coroner will identify the victim and notify next of kin. The identity of the driver has not been released. Few details about the accident were available late Sunday night.
Patriots cornerback Stephon Gilmore got into a shoving match with Seahawks receiver D.K. Metcalf on Sunday night amid a tense battle between reigning Defensive Player of the Year and emerging pass-catcher. Metcalf had burned Gilmore on consecutive plays earlier in the contest, including on a 54-yard throw over Gilmore’s head. Trash talk no doubt followed that reception, perhaps elevating tensions. After tangling on the Seattle sideline in the third quarter, Gilmore and Metcalf had to be separated. Several Seahawks players got in Gilmore’s face during the scrum. MORE: Breaking down Justin Herbert’s NFL debut There are few downfield threats with the combination of size, strength and speed that Metcalf possesses. As a rookie in 2019, he racked up 900 receiving yards and seven touchdowns. He already has two scores in two games this year. Gilmore can guard anyone in the NFL, but Metcalf is the rare player who can find occasional separation from him and cause frustration. Metcalf has made his mark on Gilmore on Sunday night.

A group of roughly a dozen people were seen busting into the Chanel on Spring and Wooster streets shortly after 11 p.m. One man was spotted by a Post reporter making off with four bags.
