Actor Bruce Willis has shown signs of cognitive decline for the past couple years, once firing a gun loaded with a blank on the wrong cue and wondering aloud what he was doing on a set, according to people who have worked with him recently. Willis, 67, is retiring from acting after he was diagnosed with aphasia, a brain condition that affects his ability to understand language, his family said in an Instagram post Wednesday. Those who have worked with him in recent years are now saying that his health has been deteriorating for a while. Lala Kent, the star of Vanderpump Rules who played Willis' daughter on the set of Hard Kill, recalls that the action hero unexpectedly fired a gun on the wrong cue during filming in 2020. 'I'm supposed to think my life is about to end, and then my dad steps in to save the day,' she told the Los Angeles Times. The actor also wondered what he was doing on the set of the upcoming low-budget film White Elephant last April. 'I know why you're here,...
Florida judge Keith Carsten has agreed to partially omit the confession of a physical therapist accused of murdering his wife and three children in 2020 at their home in a Disney town ahead of his trial because he hadn't been read his Miranda rights and was high on Benadryl.  Anthony Todt, 45, is charged with four counts of first-degree murder and one count of animal cruelty in the fatal stabbings of his wife, Megan, 42, and their kids Alex, 13; Tyler, 11, and Zoe, 4. Their dog Breezy was also killed at the family's home in Celebration, Florida, in January 2020.  Todt, who has pleaded not guilty, spoke to detectives after he was arrested at the hospital in January 2020. But he wasn’t properly informed of his Miranda rights before the interview, according to a motion filed on August 31, 2021, by Assistant Public Defender Peter Schmer.  Police are required by law to read the constitutional rights of people who are in their custody prior to questioning, a rule had established under the 1966 U.S. Supreme Court case 'Miranda v. Thomas Buell, from “The Real World: Ex-Plosion,” recently told Mike Lewis on the “Mike Lewis Podcast” that he was called for “Double Agents” and “Spies, Lies and Allies.” “I have had feelers out there for just the normal one,” he spilled. “Just whichever last two seasons that they did that were normal, and it didn’t go anywhere, obviously. A 15-year-old Illinois boy says he was picked up by the police for a shooting he did not commit, bribed with a McDonald's meal and a promise of a speedy release into making a false confession, and then kept in lockup for two days.  Martell Williams and his attorney told reporters on Monday that the Waukegan teen was only let go after his sister produced a photo proving that he had an ironclad alibi for the time of shooting because he was taking part in a basketball game 20 miles away from the crime scene.  'I was scared. I just wanted to go home,' Williams said of his harrowing ordeal last week, reported CBS Chicago. Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascon has admitted that a transgender woman who was convicted of molesting a young girl may have been given too lenient of a sentence, after he refused to prosecute her as an adult for the crime, which she committed as a male juvenile.  The progressive DA, which has been widely criticized as being soft on crime, on Friday backtracked on some of his most controversial policies, including not pursuing sentences of life in prison without the possibility of parole, and not prosecuting juveniles accused of serious offenses as adults. Gascon's sudden about-face comes as he faces a second recall effort organized by his critics, who contend that his woke policies are to blame for Los Angeles' rising crime rates.   In his statement announcing the policy changes on Friday, Gascon highlighted the case of Hannah Tubbs, the 26-year-old transgender woman who was sentenced last month to just two years in a juvenile facility after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl at a Danny's in Palmdale, California, in 2014. 'After her sentencing in our case,...
On Sept. 4, 2017, according to his confession letter, Joel Greenberg called his friend Rep. Matt Gaetz with some bad news. A teenager both men had paid to have sex with was underage, Greenberg claimed. Now, two sources tell The Daily Beast, a cooperating witness can confirm details of that call for one damning reason: He was in Greenberg’s office when the call took place. The witness, “Big Joe” Ellicott—Greenberg’s longtime best friend and an employee at the Seminole County tax office—recently pleaded guilty to fraud and drug charges as part of a cooperation agreement with federal prosecutors. Although Ellicott has so far avoided any charges regarding sex trafficking of a minor, which Greenberg pleaded guilty to last May, he was present for the call that Greenberg made to Gaetz on Sept. 4, according to two people briefed on the matter. The call, they said, was short—and Gaetz was the one who ended it. While the sources did not know whether Ellicott had discussed the call with investigators, his account would likely be of critical interest, since it would...
Whether its a few too many glasses of wine after work or too many slices of pizza on the sofa at home, we've all ended up feeling worse for wear after over-indulging.  But perhaps none of us have ended up feeling as bad as Aimo Koivunen, a Finnish soldier who accidentally took a squad's-worth of Nazi methamphetamine pills while fleeing Soviet soldiers on skies during the Second World War. Aimo hoped the pills would give him enough energy to escape the pursuing Red Army - which they did, though he also outran his own unit, got lost, and ended up spending two weeks skiing around the Arctic Circle while high out of his mind. During that time he travelled a total of 250 miles including back through the middle of the Soviet camp, stepped on a landmine which blew his right foot off, and ended up half-naked eating a raw bird in a ditch before somehow being found alive.   Aimo Koivunen (left and right), a Finnish soldier during the Second World War, accidentally overdosed on Nazi meth pills while fighting...
It’s hard enough to beat the Green Bay Packers when they have Aaron Rodgers and you have Tyler Huntley — with all respect to the Baltimore Ravens backup quarterback. It’s hard enough when their receiver corps is healthy and your entire roster, especially the defensive secondary, is ravaged by injured reserve and Covid-19 reserve list deletions. THERE are two types of people in this world - those who are absolutely starving from the moment they wake up and others who prefer to wait a bit before having breakfast. KANATA, Ontario – Sharks forward Jonathan Dahlen has been calling his father, Ulf, after almost every game he’s played away from home for over a decade. Naturally, the call he made back to Sweden on Tuesday night after his record-setting performance was a bit more special than the others. “My phone plan didn’t have Canada, so I had to find some Wi-Fi,” Dahlen said. “I’ve been calling him after almost every game since I was 10, so I gave him a call after this one too and it was pretty fun.” Dahlen, 23, scored two goals in the first 3:36 of the first period to help lead the Sharks to a 5-0 win over the Montreal Canadiens. The two goals in the first 63:36 of his NHL career were the fastest first two for any Sharks player in team history. Dahlen and linemates Logan Couture combined for seven points in the win, and now the Sharks will try for their third straight victory Thursday when they play the Ottawa Senators, the team that drafted Dahlen in...
When I was young it was considered healthy to beat the living daylights out of your children on a regular basis. So in many ways my upbringing in Glasgow in the 1940s and 1950s was no better or worse than anyone else’s. I was born in a tenement building near the city centre in November 1942, during the Second World War.  That’s the only date you’re getting out of me, because it’s the only one I can remember. At the time, my dad was away in the RAF fighting in Burma and India. The lawyer for the 68-year-old woman who has accused Bob Dylan of grooming and sexually abusing her in New York as a child, has shot down reports the singer was away on tour at the time of the alleged incidents.   In an interview with DailyMail.com, Daniel W. Isaacs cited several gaps in the tour dates when Dylan allegedly returned to his New York City apartment.  'There were two weeks between shows in April,' Isaacs told DailyMail.com. The singer's May touring schedule also shows performances in London through May 10, but nothing else for the rest of the month.  In the lawsuit filed on Friday, the woman, identified as 'J.C.,' claimed Dylan 'exploited his status as a musician to provide [her] with alcohol and drugs and sexually abuse her multiple times' over a six-week period between April and May 1965. J.C., who was 12 years old at the time, alleged that some of the abuse took place at the star's apartment in the Chelsea Hotel in Manhattan, once home to fellow artists Jimi Hendrix, Alice Cooper and Joni Mitchell. Vladimir Putin said there was no hostility in his meeting with Joe Biden on Wednesday, but reacted angerly when questioned about human rights violations, turning it into attacks on gun violence in America. 'You don't have time to open your mouth and you're shot dead,' he said, referring to mass shootings in the United States. 'Look at American streets. People are getting killed there,' he said. 'You can get a bullet in the neck.'  And he argued the US had 'secret CIA prisons.'  'Is this how you protect human rights?,' he said. 'Guantanamo is still working. Nothing to do with human rights there,' Putin argued. Putin started off being complementary of Biden, saying the two sides were determined to understand one another. The man who claimed to be the Boston Strangler was murdered in a prison hit just two weeks after mailing a letter from his cell in which he vowed to 'clear his name,' and said that he was about to 'drop a bomb,' DailyMail.com can reveal. Never-before-seen letters, published here for the first time today, reveal that Albert DeSalvo planned to recant his confession and 'tell the truth,' nearly a decade after claiming the murders of 13 women in the Boston area. The letters are part of a collection of correspondence between DeSalvo and a Massachusetts family who met him while visiting a friend at Walpole State Prison and took pity on him. They were unearthed by Boston-based investigative journalist Casey Sherman who has devoted his career to the case that is riddled with inconsistencies and doubt. For Sherman, who explores the story along with journalist David Wedge in a new podcast 'Saints, Sinners and Serial Killers,' the quest is very personal. His aunt, Mary Sullivan, was the last victim whose death was attributed to the Boston Strangler. Albert...
Nothing about Giles Darby's life as a £1 million-a-year City banker — the Hertfordshire home with swimming pool in three manicured acres, the first-class travel; the well-cut suit and chauffeur-driven car — could have prepared him for life in a harsh U.S. penitentiary. 'The richer your life outside, the harder it is to be inside,' observes Giles, one of the so-called NatWest Three, who was extradited to America and jailed there because of his entanglement in a £7 million fraud against the bank he worked for. 'A tramp may go to prison and be grateful for a bed and a meal. But if you're used to expense-account dinners and the bill is just irrelevant — you don't even look at the cost of the wine — to be picking the meat from the undercarriage of a chicken carcass, eating 'sewer trout' or chewing a burger made entirely of gristle is a big comedown.' MARTINEZ — Two men accused of being the shooters in a 2005 homicide have both accepted plea deals and 14-year prison terms, according to attorneys for the case. Contra Costa prosecutors finalized the deal with George Marcus Siever, 36, this month. His co-defendant, Brian Lee Gray Sr., 35, took a deal earlier this year. Both men accepted manslaughter convictions and in exchange, murder charges were dropped. Last May, the third defendant, Candice Marie Carter, 40 — accused of setting up the killing — took a plea deal and a 13-year prison sentence. All three were arrested and charged last year in the 2005 killing of 17-year-old Edgar Martinez, who was shot and killed as he slept in an Antioch apartment. Police said he was not the intended target of the shooting. They described the shooting as gang-related, but also personal, allegedly motivated by Carter’s desire for revenge after she was attacked by a group of Sureño gang members hours earlier. Siever’s attorney, Tyler Smith, told this newspaper that at the time of Siever’s arrest he had turned his life around....

Luis Tovar, 50, left behind five children and six grandchildren — and a reputation for kindness, humor and strength. “My dad was the most amazing dad and grandfather,” Vania Tovar, 28, said. “He supported every single one of us in a time of need.” Authorities on Thursday confirmed that one man, two women and a 9-year-old boy died in the shooting, which took place at an Orange business complex where Luis Tovar worked. Another woman and the suspect, a 44-year-old Fullerton man, remained hospitalized in “critical but stable” condition. Police have not released names of the victims. David Robinson, left, guards late Lakers great Kobe Bryant in 2001 A little more than 33 years ago, Hall of Fame center David Robinson made a decision that broke NBA hearts in two of the most successful NBA markets going at that time—in Los Angeles, where the Lakers had come off their fourth championship in eight years, and in Boston where the Celtics had just lost in the Finals to the Lakers and had won three championships in the previous eight years. It is a moment mostly lost to history, because Robinson went on to star for the Spurs for 14 seasons, where he made 10 All-Star teams and won two championships, but before Robinson put his name on a sizable contract with San Antonio in 1987, there was a consensus he would wind up with the Lakers or, to a lesser extent, the Celtics. “I had the opportunity to sit out and not sign with anyone and I would have been an unrestricted free agent,” Robinson told Heavy.com. “So both the Lakers and the Celtics, they were...

Guice was cut from the Washington football team earlier this month following his arrest in Virginia on unrelated domestic violence charges. One of the two former LSU students gave an interview to USA Today in January, and later detailed her allegations in a lawsuit filed in June under the name "Jane Doe." The woman, a former LSU tennis player, said that after Guice drove her home from a bar one night, he asked if he could come in. Guice had allegedly bought her shots of tequila at the bar beforehand and the tennis player said that she was "very drunk" and "way too drunk to give consent in the first place.” When Guice entered her home, she alleges he forced her to have oral and vaginal sex with him.  At the time, Jane Doe said that her allegations were reported to LSU's Title IX office, but never investigated.
