Getty Kicker Gabe Brkic #47 of the Oklahoma Sooners smiles after his second of three touchdowns against the West Virginia Mountaineers in the fourth quarter at Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium on September 25, 2021 in Norman, Oklahoma. Oklahoma won 16-13 on a Brkic field goal. The Green Bay Packers are making another change in their kicking room as they continue to look for talent to push veteran Mason Crosby in training camp. According to the NFL’s official transaction wire for Monday, June 13, the Packers have claimed rookie Gabe Brkic off the waiver wire from the Minnesota Vikings and waived one of their backup kickers, Dominik Eberle, from the 90-man roster to make room. Brkic had originally signed with the Vikings as an undrafted rookie following his four-year collegiate career at Oklahoma. During his final season with the Sooners, he made 20 of his 26 field-goal attempts (79.6%) and was one of the nation’s most prolific long-distance kickers, making five of his seven tries from beyond 50 yards with two of his successes coming from at least...
The A’s continued their roster reshuffling by bringing up Luis Barrera from Triple-A Las Vegas Monday, making the left-handed hitting outfielder the 11th rookie currently on their 26-man roster. Outfielder Billy McKinney, a former A’s first-round pick who was batting just .096 (5-for-52), was designated for assignment to clear room for Barrera. Barrera becomes the 17th rookie on the A’s this season, which is already four more than they employed all last season. In addition, Barrera becomes the 38th player on the A’s through just 28 games – Tampa Bay has used an American League-leading 39 players through Monday. The Chicago Cubs front office remains busy early in the season, striking another deal with a National League contender.  It may be an average start to the MLB season for the new-look Chicago Cubs, but the front office seems to be in midseason form. Just a day after making a trade with the Atlanta Braves to bring in reliever Sean Newcomb, the Cubs have struck another deal as minor tweaks to the roster continue early on in the season. According to FanSided’s Robert Murray, the Cubs found a trade partner for Cory Abbot and will be sending him to the San Francisco Giants. Cash considerations going to the Cubs. No. But what it does signal is that the Cubs are already looking at ways to actively tweak the roster to get it in as good a shape as possible for a potential run at a Wild Card spot. It seems a but ridiculous to set expectations that...
Getty Bill Belichick Enough is enough. Those are sentiments Bleacher Report’s Joe Tansey shared in regard to N’Keal Harry and his time with the New England Patriots. Tansey called Harry out as one of the three players the Patriots must look to release this offseason. The other two are tight end Devin Asiasi and cornerback Joejuan Williams.Patriots Advised to Cut Ties With 3 YounginsAsiasi has failed to make an impact after being drafted in the third round in 2020. The UCLA product has been active for just 10 games in two seasons, and he has just 2 receptions for 39 yards and a TD in his brief and uneventful career. The 24-year-old Williams hasn’t established himself as a starter-level contributor during his three seasons with the Patriots, and he was also arrested on drug charges back in 2020. While the statistic can be deceptive, it is noteworthy to point out Williams still hasn’t had an interception as a professional despite playing in 36 games. Harry’s situation is even more troubling because of the high draft spot (32nd overall...

The Warriors still haven’t said when injured star Klay Thompson will be back on the court, but on Wednesday night the team announced that Thompson and center James Wiseman had been recalled from the team’s G-League affiliate in Santa Cruz. Getty Head coach Matt LaFleur of the Green Bay Packers watches play from the sideline in the first half against the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field on October 17, 2021 in Chicago, Illinois. The Green Bay Packers are calling up offensive guard Ben Braden to their game-day roster for the second time in three weeks, but not before committing to playing without one of their rookie starters for the next several weeks. On Saturday, October 23, Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst announced that second-round rookie center Josh Myers had been placed on injured reserve and that Braden had been elevated to their active roster as a COVID-19 replacement for Week 7’s home game against the Washington Football Team. The Packers had already ruled Myers out against Washington with the knee injury that sidelined him on their first drive in Week 6 against the Chicago Bears, but moving him to injured reserve almost certainly means he will miss their next four games. While Myers will be eligible for activation one day before the Packers host the Seattle Seahawks in...

The Bears elevated pass rusher Sam Kamara to the 53-man roster in the wake of linebacker Jeremiah Attaochu’s season-ending injury, as first reported by Tom Pelissero on October 12. The move was confirmed when the waiver wire hit later in the day. The Bears also re-signed LB Rashad Smith to the practice squad after seeing kicker Brian Johnson get poached by the New Orleans Saints. Smith landed on Chicago’s practice squad last season before also spending time on the active rosters of both the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles. SAN FRANCISCO — The Warriors roster is back to its full size shortly after the team made its first cut of the preseason. Free agent guard Quinndary Weatherspoon signed with Golden State, the team announced Monday morning, filling the spot opened after the team waived Langston Galloway on Saturday. Weatherspoon, 25, joins a group of guards contending for the 15th and final spot on the Warriors’ roster. The first shakeup in the battle for the final roster spot came Saturday, when Gary Payton II got on the court in 5-on-5 action for the first time of the preseason and afterward, the team waived fellow guard Langston Galloway. The Warriors like Payton and veteran Avery Bradley for their defensive capabilities. Bradley, 31, has been among coach Steve Kerr’s first substitutions off the bench in the Dubs’ first three preseason games. CHICAGO — Ahead of his anticipated return to the starting lineup, Giants infielder Wilmer Flores flew to Chicago and joined his teammates on the diamond at Wrigley Field for batting practice on Saturday. Manager Gabe Kapler said the Giants intend to activate Flores, who has been out since September 2 with a left hamstring strain, for Sunday’s series finale against the Cubs. Kapler initially estimated Flores would miss “a couple of weeks,” but noted that the infielder heals quickly and has responded well as the Giants have ramped up his activity over the last several days. Flores spent much of the week working out at Oracle Park alongside outfielder Alex Dickerson and Donovan Solano, who are both on the injured list. Dickerson is recovering from a right hamstring strain and was sent out on a rehab assignment to Triple-A Sacramento on Friday while Solano is nearing a return to the Giants after testing positive for COVID-19 on Thursday, August 26 in New York. Solano, who was fully vaccinated, experienced mild symptoms and spent 10 days quarantined...
The Baltimore Ravens injury crisis at running back got worse with Gus Edwards going down. Now they’re bringing in DeVonta Freeman to cover the loss. It’s a really rough time to be a Ravens running back. DeVonta Freeman is now one of them. After starting running back Gus Edwards went down during practice with a potentially season-ending injury, Baltimore called up Freeman to replace him. “Ravens now are signing veteran free-agent RB Devonta Freeman to their practice squad, per his agent [Drew Rosenhaus]. The idea is that Freeman will be promoted to Ravens’ active roster,” Adam Schefter tweeted. The Ravens signed DeVonta Freeman after another injury hitFreeman was one of three running backs the Ravens worked out as cover for injuries to JK Dobbins and Justice Hill. They were left with just two healthy running backs on the roster and brought in Le’Veon Bell, Elijah Holyfield and Freeman for a tryout. Bell got the nod as a veteran RB3 to shore up depth. Baltimore definitely didn’t plan on having to add yet another running back because of another starting rusher...
Getty Former Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell takes flight in a 2013 game against the Minnesota Vikings. The Baltimore Ravens hosted three running backs for workouts on Monday after third-year back Justice Hill tore his Achilles at a recent practice, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. The injury will keep Hill out for the 2021 season, leaving the Ravens with only two running back on the roster after J.K. Dobbins’ season-ending ACL tear against the Washington Football Team on August 28. Hill has been a steady third-string running back in Baltimore since he was drafted in 2019, providing solid pass protection and contributing on special teams as well. The Ravens worked out Le’Veon Bell, Devonta Freeman and Elijah Holyfield, per Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic, one of whom they will likely sign to back up Gus Edwards and Ty’Son Williams. Edwards will enter the year as the Ravens clear-cut RB1, while Williams will likely get the second-most carries after an impressive preseason. With less than a week before the regular season opener against the Las Vegas Raiders,...
The Lakers signed 33-year-old DeAndre Jordan after he was traded to the Pistons and subsequently waived, further adding to a roster of veterans. Jordan can be a valuable asset off the bench, though he has many similarities to Dwight Howard and even Andrew Drummond, who recently left for the 76ers. LeBron James and the Lakers are all-in on this season, and if that means adding just about every low-cost veteran on the open market who’s willing to take a discount for a championship, then so be it. It might be James’ last, best chance at a Title. You can bet he’s speaking with Rob Pelinka on a daily basis. However, the Lakers’ average age is around 33 years old. QUEENS, N.Y. — Ten days after returning from a two-month stint on the injured list, Evan Longoria is sidelined again due to a hand injury that will keep him out for at least the Giants’ next three series. Longoria injured one of his fingers on Wednesday after he was hit by a pitch while swinging in the Giants’ 6-2 loss to the Mets at Oracle Park, but remained active for Friday and Saturday’s games against the A’s. Prior to Sunday’s series finale, the Giants placed Longoria on the COVID-19 injured list after the third baseman experienced side effects following a vaccine booster shot. A player on the COVID-19 injured list is temporarily removed from the 40-man roster, so the Giants needed to add Longoria back to the 40-man roster Tuesday to place him on the 10-day injured list. To create a space for Longoria, the Giants removed starter Kevin Gausman from the 40-man roster and placed him on the COVID-19 injured list after the starter received a vaccine booster shot. Gausman wouldn’t have appeared in Tuesday’s game...

A day after the Giants announced Alex Dickerson and Darin Ruf would be reinstated from the injured list following brief rehab assignments with Triple-A Sacramento, another veteran position player joined the River Cats as he targets a return to San Francisco’s lineup. Infielder Tommy La Stella is beginning a rehab assignment Tuesday with Sacramento as he’ll bat second and serve as the designated hitter against the Salt Lake City Bees, the Angels’ Triple-A affiliate. La Stella, who has been out since May 2 with a hamstring strain, will have plenty of time to acclimate to live pitching as he’s not eligible to return from the 60-day injured list until July 2. The left-handed hitting infielder was batting .235 with a .650 OPS when he suffered his injury, but the Giants believed he was on the verge of a breakthrough at the plate and are confident he’ll be a key contributor near the top of the lineup against right-handed pitchers when he returns. The Nets signed the shot-blocking center after having traded away Jarrett Allen in the...
Bobby Ellis/Getty Images Chris Boswell of the Pittsburgh Steelers prepares to kick a field against the Cincinnati Bengals in 2019. As the Pittsburgh Steelers get set to face to Cleveland Browns this Sunday, most of the attention has focused on two things: the starters that Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has chosen to rest vs. the Browns; and outside linebacker T.J. Watt’s candidacy for Defensive Player of the Year. But placekicker Chris Boswell’s ongoing injury issues—first he dealt with a hip problem that kept him out against Washington, now he has a groin issue—are potentially a real problem for the Steelers this weekend, and not just because the team wants and needs Boswell healthy for the playoffs.Matthew Wright in 2020Boswell has missed two games this season (including last week’s showdown against the Colts), and in both cases, practice squad kicker Matthew Wright was elevated to the active roster and filled in capably. Wright has converted 6-of-6 extra points and made his only field goal attempt—a 37-yarder. His main shortcoming is a noticeable lack of leg strength; he...
It has been a rocky year for Valve’s FPS Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Not only has there been a transition in competitive tournaments, but several pros have made a switch to Valorant. According to recent reports, yet another CS: GO legend is ending the year with a move to Valorant. The news comes as a shock to the community, which considers Christopher “GeT_RiGhT” Alesund to be one of the best players of all time. He hinted towards the next step in his career last week, leaving the fans perplexed. However, just a few hours back, Christopher via a Twitter post announced his move to Valorant. CS: GO community excited to hear about his plans in the future GeT_RiGhT reached his peak with Ninjas in Pyjamas, where the exemplary Swedish lineup dominated the early years of Global Offensive. HLTV ranked Christopher as the second-best player in the world in 2010 and 2011 before he joined hands with NiP. This is where his career took a turn for the better and was ranked as the best player in the world in 2013 and 2014....
Next1 of 3Prev postUse your ← → (arrows) to browse The Kansas City Chiefs should consider signing several top veteran free agents before the start of the postseason. The Kansas City Chiefs have the best record in football at 13-1 and are clear favorites to repeat as Super Bowl champions. But even the greatest teams can improve. The Chiefs may not need upgrades. However, the playoffs are a different animal and the front office may want to look over the remaining free agents available and make a few calls. Adding talent and having the best available 53-man roster should be the top priority over the final two weeks of the season. Let’s take a look at a few players who could help the Chiefs.3. Kenny StillsKenny Stills appeared in 10 games for the Houston Texans this year before being let go. He now stands out as a top available veteran option. The Chiefs don’t necessarily need help at receiver. Adding someone like Stills is more about getting that veteran experience and adding depth at a time when the threat of...
It has been a rocky year for Valve’s FPS Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Not only has there been a transition in competitive tournaments, several pros too, have made a switch to Valorant. According to recent reports, yet another CS: GO professional might make a move to the Riot Games’ shooter. Reports have emanated suggesting Ninjas in Pyjamas is looking to recruit Kevin ‘Ex6tenZ’ Droolans for its Valorant team. The Belgian professional bid a farewell to the competitive scene earlier this year. Since then, he has been interested in a coaching role, having played as an in-game leader for several years. However, reports have surfaced that he is looking for a change and Valorant might be his ultimate destination. This is primarily because the Riot Games’ shooter has been on the rise since its inception. Many have even dubbed it as one of the finest FPS’s to have come out in a long time. Kevin ‘Ex6tenZ’ Droolans might be on his way to NiP’s Valorant roster Droolans has had a vibrant CS: GO career. He cemented himself as a player to watch out for, becoming...
DETROIT, MICHIGAN - DECEMBER 13: Head coach Matt LaFleur of the Green Bay Packers jogs off the field after defeating the Detroit Lions 31-24 at Ford Field on December 13, 2020 in Detroit, Michigan. (Photo by Rey Del Rio/Getty Images) The Green Bay Packers are bringing back a familiar face to reinforce their defensive line, but not before sending yet another member of the group to injured reserve. The Packers announced a series of changes to their practice squad on Tuesday afternoon, including the signing of fifth-year defensive tackle Brian Price. He had previously spent time with the Packers in 2016 as a member of their undrafted rookie class, making his active-roster debut in Week 3 against the Detroit Lions. The Packers also shipped defensive tackle Delontae Scott, an undrafted rookie, to the injured reserve-practice squad to clear space for Price on the 16-man roster. While players on the practice squad are given different designations, Scott’s movement now leaves Green Bay with three defensive linemen on some form of IR, including veteran Billy Winn and Montravius Adams as...
Getty New York Giants make 2 roster moves in the secondary. Despite what Twitter may tell you, defensive backs Madre Harper and Montre Hartage are in fact, two different people, and the latter is set to replace the former in the New York Giants‘ secondary. Harper, an undrafted free agent out of Southern Illinois, will miss at minimum the next three games as he’s been placed on injured reserve with a knee injury. He now joins the likes of fellow defensive backs Ryan Lewis and Adrian Colbert, each of whom were placed on I.R. earlier this season. In a corresponding move, Hartage has been signed to the team’s active roster from the practice squad. ALL the latest Giants news straight to your inbox! Due to yet another disappointing end to the New York Yankees season, the team may be looking to trade Aaron Judge prior to the start of the 2021 year, according to multiple baseball analysts. The right fielder’s past injuries, as well as the organization’s salary cap, both play a role in whether or not Judge will be let go. The squad lost against the Tampa Bay Rays in a five-game playoff series that ended 3-2 in the Rays favor. The 2020 roster was packed with talent and was expected to be a World Series contender, and the sudden end to the season did not display the full potential the club had. One aspect that impacts Judge’s future with the squad is his past injuries. He suffered a mild calf strain back in August, according to a report from ESPN. Some analysts have speculated that he never fully recovered from the injury and it later negatively affected his batting form. Additionally, he also has been dealing with a rib injury that initially became a problem back in March. Both incidents are...
Getty The Chicago Bears have placed James Daniels on IR, while promoting Sam Mustipher to the active roster. After tearing his pectoral muscle against the Buccaneers in the team’s 20-19 win, Chicago Bears‘ guard James Daniels has officially been placed on injured reserve, the team announced Wednesday. To fill his spot on the 53-man roster, the Bears promoted offensive lineman Sam Mustipher. Getty Mitchell Trubisky of the Chicago Bears exits the field after a game. It was one simple roster move. The Chicago Bears moved perennial practice squad quarterback Tyler Bray up to the 53-man roster the day before their Week 4 game against the Indianapolis Colts, and Bears Twitter lost its collective mind. The roster move, presumably a security measure now that Nick Foles has taken over at quarterback for Mitch Trubisky, sent fans and analysts alike into a frenzy wondering what it all meant. But first, some context: in the Matt Nagy era, the Bears have never really rolled with three quarterbacks on the roster. The norm for Nagy has always been just two, and Bray specifically has only been activated when Trubisky has been injured in the past. Considering that every team must also report any injuries to their players on their final injury reports, it’s highly unlikely the Bears are dealing with any surprise ailments where Trubisky or Foles are concerned. With more questions than answers swirling around, it didn’t take long for people to start...
If Sunday’s loss to the Bills is any indication, Jets fans can already start dreaming about the draft next spring. It already feels like the Jets are telling you, “Wait ’til next year.” For Jets fans, though, it is fair to wonder if next year will ever come. The team has gone nine seasons without a playoff appearance, and it appears that streak will hit a decade — the longest playoff drought for the team since it sat out the postseason from 1970-1980. Jets general manager Joe Douglas bristled when he was asked if he was punting on this season after he traded away Jamal Adams, but it is hard to see how the Jets’ plan is about winning this season. Douglas is focused on the long view. When he took over in June 2019, he inherited a terrible roster and demanded a six-year contract because he knew there was no quick fix here. It is the right strategy. Douglas, of course, has to draft well and build up the roster over time. But any long-term gains will be preceded...
The firsts keep piling up for Joe Judge. First press conference. First introductions to his players. First Zoom meeting with his players. First virtual offseason program. First actual on-the-field training camp practice. Last week, his first free-agent waiting game as a head coach culminated in the signing of defensive back Logan Ryan. Previously, as an assistant and later special teams coordinator with the Patriots, Judge was privy to some, but not nearly all, of the machinations involved in biding time as the price tag drops. “I’d say there’s a little bit more foot-tapping when you’re the assistant or the coordinator and you don’t have every piece of information going on at the time,’’ Judge said. “Sometimes you feel like you’re in the dark. But when there’s something you need to know, you get informed.’’ Judge is in the know with everything there is to know with the Giants, which is why what happens next is another untraveled road for him. He has sent players packing this summer, but nothing to the extent of what goes down Saturday, when his roster...
Getty The Vikings released five players and added another to the injured reserve list. The Vikings took a major step towards trimming down to its 53-man roster on Wednesday, releasing five players and placing another on the injured reserve list. In a press release, the Vikings announced the team waived undrafted rookie free agent linebacker Jordan Fehr, defensive ends Stacy Keely and Anthony Zettel, and running back Tony Brooks-James, who was dropped and added from the training camp roster earlier this offseason. Pioneer Press reporter Chris Tomasson reported that linebacker Quentin Poling was also released from the injured reserve list as the team added rookie seventh-round defensive end Kenny Willekes after an injury he sustained last Friday. A source told Heavy it is a torn ACL before he was added to the list, signaling he may miss the majority of the 2020 season. Die-hard Vikings fan? The Call of Duty League 2020 wrapped up just days ago, but news of the 2021 edition has already started taking over. In a swift turn of events, news and rumors about roster changes are coming through. Call Of Duty League announced earlier today that the 2021 edition will take place in 4v4 format instead of 5v5. This change is massive considering the fact that all 12 existing rosters have 5 members. Therefore, one member has to be benched or dropped from every team. It has just been a day since the Championships got over, and the changes are already underway. Dallas Empire has dropped Clayster from its 2021 COD roster. They announced the move on Twitter an hour ago. With the heaviest of hearts we are forced to let go of an absolute legend. We will be forever proud and grateful. Aaron Judge was activated off the injured list and inserted into the lineup at DH on Tuesday against the Braves in Atlanta after missing two weeks with a strained calf. Prior to the game, the Yankees also put Luis Avilan on the 10-day IL with left shoulder inflammation. The injury allowed the Yankees to recall Miguel Andujar from the alternate site in Scranton. With Gleyber Torres and James Paxton placed on the 10-day IL on Monday, the Yankees also called up right-hander Brooks Kriske from the alternate site. Andujar has struggled this season, so far unable to adjust to his new role with the Yankees, coming off the bench as a part-time third baseman and outfielder. He entered Tuesday just 1-for-14 on the season.
