The British public should turn down their heating and switch the time when they eat dinner this winter in order to avoid rolling blackouts, government advisors have warned. Contingency planning from the British government’s UK National Infrastructure Commission has warned that as many as six million households could face power cuts if there are additional supply issues Russian energy imports. In order to prevent blackouts in the winter months, infrastructure tsar Sir John Armitt said that people should be told to turn down their thermostats and to not cook during peak hours such as 6 pm to 8 pm in order to reduce the national demand for gas supplies. “The Government could ask people to turn down their thermostats. I’d be amazed if the Government didn’t do this at some point this winter,” Sir John told The Telegraph. “In the first place they should have a PR exercise to say please cut back on usage as far as you are able,” he said.”Treat the public like grownups and be open about the challenge and how we can all help.” Suggesting what measures...

Volodymyr Zelensky's top adviser has told the West to dramatically step up deliveries of heavy weapons if Ukraine is to defeat Russia's invasion. Mykhailo Podolyak said Monday that Kyiv needs 1,000 howitzers, 300 rocket artillery systems, 500 tanks, 2,000 armoured vehicles and 1,000 drones 'to end the war'.  The eye-watering shopping list amounts to an army's-worth of Western equipment and goes well beyond both what has been supplied so far and what Ukraine itself has been requesting. Put in context, 500 new tanks would be more than the UK and Germany have in active service combined, while 1,000 howitzers and 300 rocket launchers is more than the US currently has in active service. The US has supplied a little over 100 howtizers to Ukraine so far while the US and UK combined are thought to have sent seven rocket systems. Podolyak published the list amid heavy fighting in Ukraine's east - where Russia has this week issued a 'surrender or die' order to troops defending a key Donbas city - and ahead of a Wednesday meeting in Brussels to discuss...

Ghislaine Maxwell was thrashed as a 10-year-old girl by her 'sadistic' media mogul father with 'a weapon of her choice', a new bombshell book claimed.  The corrupt owner of the Daily Mirror would beat Ghislaine, who is now languishing in a US jail, at his family's home Headington Hill Hall, in Oxfordshire.  Maxwell would die in 1991 after falling off the Lady Ghislaine yacht - named after his favourite daughter - after raiding £460million from his own companies' pension funds.  Royal biographer Tina Brown has claimed that at aged 10, Ghislaine would tell house guests that her father beat her - but allowed her to choose what with from a hairbrush, a leather strap or a slipper laid out ready for use in her room.   The claims are made in her book: 'The Palace Papers: Inside the House of Windsor — the Truth and the Turmoil', which is being serialised this week and also claims that her paedo lover Jeffrey Epstein called Prince Andrew 'an useful idiot' behind his back but was keen to exploit the Duke's status and connections for his own...

The FA are lobbying FIFA to kick Russia out of the World Cup after the world governing body shamelessly fudged the issue on Sunday night. FIFA belatedly announced ‘initial measures’ — home games on neutral territory, competing under the banner of the ‘Football Union of Russia’ and outlawing their flag and anthem — but the FA want Russia to be banned from this year’s tournament and said they will not play them at any level or age group for the foreseeable future. A health worker shows a box containing a bottle of ivermectin. In November 2020, a group of male inmates from the Washington County Detention Center in Arkansas were diagnosed with COVID-19. The medical staff quarantined the group and began handing out what the men were told were “vitamins.” In reality, led by Dr. Robert Karas, the men were lied to, and given the anti-parasite drug ivermectin instead.  Now the American Civil Liberties Union is suing the jail and Karas on behalf of the inmates. Karas is under also investigation by the Arkansas State Medical Board. Just in case you’ve been living under a rock or watch Fox News, the FDA has never authorized or approved ivermectin for use in preventing or treating COVID-19 in humans or animals. Ivermectin is approved for human use to treat infections caused by some parasitic worms, head lice, and skin conditions such as rosacea.  A year after the men were given ivermectin (without their consent), the county sheriff admitted to the secret, leaving inmates such as 30-year-old Edrick Floreal-Woote feeling as if he’d been experimented on.  "It was not consensual. Germany energy regulator has suspended approval for Russia's Nord Stream 2 pipeline hours after Boris Johnson told the EU it must choose between Ukraine's freedom or buying gas from Moscow.  Construction of the pipeline, which will carry Russian gas directly across the Baltic to Germany, was delayed by United States sanctions and is strongly opposed by many European countries who believe it is designed to freeze Ukraine out of transit fees for shipping Russian gas. German regulator, Bundesnetzagentur, said on Tuesday it had suspended the certification process because the Swiss-based consortium behind Nord Stream 2 needed to form a company under German law to secure an operating licence.  Skyrocketing gas prices jumped 9 per cent on the regulator's move amid fears that Europe will face a crippling shortage this winter and be forced to bow to Vladimir Putin's demands to keep houses warm on the Continent.  It comes as Putin faces fury for two crises on Europe's doorstep: the 'weaponising' of migrants on the Polish border by the Kremlin-backed Belarusian tyrant Alexander Lukashenko, and a buildup of Russian troops on...

At least 10 Black women have filed a class-action lawsuit against the city of Washington D.C. for widespread discrimination. Among them is Chanel Dickerson, who, as assistant police chief, is the highest-ranking Black woman in the department. According to NBC News, during a community meeting Tuesday, Dickerson shared a personal secret: As an 18-year-old cadet, she was told she had to get an abortion to keep her job. “My choice to have a baby was personal, and it should’ve been mine alone and not for an employer ultimatum,” Dickerson said. “I was told I had to have an abortion or be fired from the MPD cadet program.” While it is unclear what happened afterward, Dickerson has been with the department since 1988. She, alongside other current or former female D.C. police officers, filed a lawsuit last month alleging they were discriminated against based on their race and sex. Because the division in charge of harassment is run by a man, the Dickerson shared that they were not only treated with hostility but discredited as they came forward.  “I understand the dire consequences...

Representative Adam Schiff (D-CA) said on this week’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “The Sunday Show” that House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) would do anything that former Donald Trump told him to do, “no matter how wrong or unethical.” Schiff said, “One of the most frequent questions I get from my constituents around the country is what do they really say. And this story of this chance meeting on a plane with Kevin McCarthy and him going off to completely misrepresent a conversation, you can see how duplicitous so many of my colleagues are. That conversation was in 2010. It was long before Donald Trump, but he was really made for an hour like this. When his party is led by someone who believes that the truth isn’t truth and you’re entitled to your own alternate facts. And in my view, there’s nothing more corrosive to a democracy than the idea that there’s no truth.” He added, “You cannot allow someone with that little regard for the truth to get anywhere near the speaker’s office. If Kevin McCarthy were to become speaker,...

Former Attorney General Bill Barr warned then-President Trump that he would lose in 2024 because suburban voters think he's an 'a**hole' and don't care about his deep state 'grievances' in a blunt, profanity-laced appeal to his ex-boss.  'This is not a base election. Your base is critical, and you'll get it out,' Barr told Trump in the Oval Office, according to an excerpt from 'Peril' obtained by Business Insider released Friday. But he warned Trump that he needed to widen his appeal.  'There are a lot of people out there, Independents and Republicans in the suburbs of the critical states that think you're an a**hole. They think you act like an a**hole and you got to, you got to start taking that into account.' At the time the coronavirus pandemic was breaking daily records and hospitals across the country struggled.  But in the weeks before the election Trump was focused on battling the media, who he accused of playing up the pandemic to sabotage his campaign.  At the same time he was still touting Barr-appointed investigator John Durham's probe into...
By Andrew Kaczynski and Em Steck | CNN The Biden administration has told 11 officials appointed to military service academy advisory boards by former President Donald Trump to resign or be dismissed, a source familiar with the situation tells CNN’s KFile. The officials asked to resign include prominent former Trump officials like former White House press secretary Sean Spicer, former senior counselor to the President Kellyanne Conway and former national security adviser H.R. McMaster. They were appointed to the advisory boards of the Naval Academy, Air Force Academy and West Point respectively. White House press secretary Jen Psaki on Wednesday afternoon confirmed the request had been made. “The President’s objective is what any president’s objective is — to ensure you have nominees and people serving on these boards who are qualified to serve on them and who are aligned with your values. And so yes, that was an ask that was made,” Psaki told reporters at a White House briefing. Psaki added: “I will let others evaluate whether they think Kellyanne Conway and Sean Spicer and others were qualified, or...
A decorated Iraq War veteran has blasted the Pentagon's newly-announced vaccine mandate as 'tyrannical' and 'deeply wrong.' Rob Smith, 37, told DailyMail.com: 'As someone who raised my right hand, wore the uniform, and served for five years including combat duty in Iraq, I think a vaccine mandate for soldiers is deeply wrong and an invasion on the civil liberties of Americans.' He added: 'However, once people raise their hands and take that oath they are, in fact, as much property of the US Military as any weapon, tank, or ship. 'So they don't really have a choice. I just wish our leaders valued freedom instead of tyranny.'    Smith served in the US Army for five years, and completed two tours of the Middle East. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal and Combat Infantry Badge, and now works as a commentator and podcaster. He said, “So, for him to tell me that I have to get it in order for me to not violate my probation is crazy because I’m just trying to do what I can to get off this as quickly as possible, like finding a job and everything else, but that little...

A judge and two legal clerks investigating the assassination of the Haitian president have been forced to go on the run after receiving death threats. Justice of the Peace Carl Henry Destin and clerks Marcelin Valentin and Waky Philostene say the threats began rolling in hours after the killing of former premier Jovenel Moise on January 7. They were repeatedly ordered to remove sworn testimony of two witnesses from their investigation documentation - and forced to go into hiding as the threats ramped up. The clerks received a text warning that failure to comply with orders to tamper meant they'd get 'a bullet in your head.'   'There are great interests at play that are not interested in solving this case,' Valentin told the New York Times.
