Getty Zach LaVine dribbles the ball against Matisse Thybulle in a February 19 game against the Philadelphia 76ers. Coming out of the NBA’s All-Star break, the Chicago Bulls aren’t currently one of the Eastern Conference’s eight playoff teams. But one NBA insider has faith they’ll put it all together between now and May. In the latest edition of ESPN’s Power Rankings, done by multiple members of staff, Eric Woodyard made the bold prediction that the Bulls would not only make the playoffs but finish with a .500 record. Chicago hasn’t berthed the postseason since the 2016-2017 campaign, or more notably, since the Jimmy Butler trade. The panel of analysts ranked them as the 20th best team in the NBA, which ironically, is four teams why of the 16 who are currently slated for playoffs. Now theres a fight over what should replace them In 2021, the LCS is doing things differently with its format, expanding the regular season to five games a day, three days a week, and combining the end-of-season records from the Spring and Summer. But what does that mean for the playoffs, and what do teams need to do to qualify?  © Provided by Dot Esports This year, the Spring Split has been condensed to six weeks, instead of the usual nine weeks. That means teams have one more week to turn it around and qualify for the playoffs. The winner of the MSS will qualify for the tournament and represent North America in Reykjavík, Iceland in May. The LCS Mid-Season Showdown will feature, just like the playoffs from last year, the top six teams from the...

House passes sweeping voting rights bill targeting state restrictions There has been no recent movement in talks between MLB and the MLB Players Association regarding the potential implementation of an expanded postseason or the universal designated hitter for the 2021 season, reports Evan Drellich of the Athletic. There are no current plans to revisit those talks, per Drellich, who characterizes playoff expansion and the National League DH as “dead issues” for next season. © Rob Schumacher/The Republic via Imagn Content Services, LLC Last summer, MLB and the MLBPA agreed to an expanded 16-team playoff format for 2020 just hours before the beginning of the regular season, with the players receiving $50M of postseason television revenues. In a typical postseason, players receive a share of gate revenue. While Drellich cautions that another last-minute accord can “never be totally ruled out,” tonight’s report is the firmest indication yet that the broad season structure is set to revert to its pre-2020 status. NBA : By Stefan Djordjevic/ sdjordjevic@eurohoops.net Tomorrow, March 2, is the set tip-off date for the Round of 16 stage in the Basketball Champions League and this year’s postseason might be the most interesting so far. It will surely feature something for every fan out there and Eurohoops has picked out five storylines to watch out for as the teams fight for a spot in the Final Eight. Group format bringing more excitement and competitiveness This year has been unique for every competition in sports and the Basketball Champions League has been no exception. FIBA’s elite league adjusted though with some changes and it adjusted well. Doubling up the number of groups (8 x 4) and playing every other week gave the teams much-needed spacing in the schedule to prepare, balance out the obligation but also postpone games and overcome any coronavirus-related challenges. However, outside of the technical advantages, it also brought out more from the teams which now had to take every game seriously in order to secure the two available tickets from each...

"He was texting us a lot of clips, lots and lots of film on what to expect on certain down and distances," Evans said. "And he does that all the time, but just in the playoffs and especially this game, he went above and beyond. Like 12 at night, six in the morning. Steph Curry is having one of his best seasons in the NBA currently. The Warriors’ point guard has been playing some of the best basketball of his career right now. He is putting numbers that are similar to his unanimous MVP season from 2016. Curry has been the driving force for the Warriors. But even Steph can have the occasional slip-up, like he did last night. Dell makes fun of Steph Last night, Curry and the Golden State Warriors played the Charlotte Hornets. However, at the start of the game, Curry missed the tip-off, even though he is an undisputed starter for the franchise. His father, Dell Curry, was on announcing duty for the Hornets, joked, “Want me to send a text to his phone?” when his colleagues were wondering where Steph was. Despite the slip-up, it was not a fun night for Curry. He and the Warriors lost to the Charlotte Hornets after Terry Rozier posted a game-winner. The loss to the Hornets is another example of the Warriors’ struggles this season. They put up solid performances against bigger...

The Milwaukee Bucks seem to have lost their momentum from earlier this month. After going on a solid five-game winning streak a few weeks ago, the Bucks have seen a reversal in fortune; Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks have lost their past four games in a row. However, the reigning MVP and DPOY does not think there is too much cause for concern at the moment. Giannis Antetokounmpo calms down the worry Giannis spoke to the press after Milwaukee’s fourth loss, this time to the Toronto Raptors. While he was disappointed with the loss, Giannis also said that it was “not the end of the world.” While the absence of Jrue Holiday has hurt the team, Antetokounmpo doesn’t think they need to go into “panic mode” just yet. The Milwaukee Bucks have been inconsistent this season. At times, they have shown how good they can be, going on winning runs that have put any team in the NBA to shame. On the other hand, they sometimes lose focus and lose games to teams that they can handily defeat. If the...
NBA : By Semih Altinbas / info@eurohoops.net In the FIBA Basketball Champions League, the group stages of the 2020-21 season have been played and the playoff phase is being passed. Although the Chicago White Sox have not won a World Series since 2005 and did not make the playoffs from 2008 to 2020, fans can dream again in 2021. The team is made up of young players. Very talented and ex-players are the best. We can add to the fact that the team signed one of the best relievers in the league at Liam Hendrix and acquired Lance Lynn, one of the best pitchers in recent years. Internally, we can also feel confident. Pitcher Lucas Geolitto said the organization was starving for a victory. We want to win the World Series. Lucas Giolitto Everything seems to be in the right place for the team to be in good shape to advance to the playoffs. In fact, their division is one of the worst (or otherwise) major baseball games, with two under-teams (the Royals and the Tigers) and the Cleveland Indians exchanging their star Francisco Linder. Only the Minnesota Twins can present a real challenge to the Sox. In fact, the duo finished last year with a 36-24 record,...
NBA : By Stefanos Tatsios / info@eurohoops.net His team George Bartzokas for most of the year we are suffering from constant racing “ups and downs” which have led her to to have a record of 11-13 and to be with… one foot out playoffs for another year after 2018 where her last presence in her top eight was recorded Euroleague. Many watching his toys Olympic In this year’s Euroleague, they consider that his big problem is mainly aggressive, something that would not be wrong to say, but the “wound” of the players of George Bartzokas, based on statistics, proves its defensive function. To be precise, the “red and whites” in 24 matches of the regular season score an average of 80 points performance that ranks them in 5th place in the relevant ranking, leaving behind groups like Efes, Efes, Bayern, Milan and Zenit, while the top attack in the tournament so far is held by CSKA Moscow by Dimitris Itoudis with 83.9 points! On the contrary, Olympiakos seems to have a more important problem...
Tuesday, 9 Feb 2021. 09:43 Marty Scottenheimer, who won 200 regular season games with four NFL teams but failed to make the playoffs, has died. He is 77 years old. Scottenheimer died Monday evening at a long-term care home in Charlotte, North Carolina, his family announced by former Kansas mayor Bob Moore. He was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2014. On January 30 he was transferred to this home. Scottenheimer is the eighth most successful coach in NFL history. He compiled a 200-126-1 record in 21 seasons with the Cleveland Browns, Kansas mayors, Washington Redskins and San Diego Chargers. His success relied on “Martibal”, a conservative strategy that included solid running sports and tough defense. He hated the Oakland Riders of the day and accepted the mantra of “one game at a time”. Regular season wins have never been an issue. Scottenheim’s teams have won 10 or more 11 times, including an impressive 14-2 with the Chargers in 2006, which saw them as the first seed of the American League in the playoffs. This is what happened...
There are some exciting playoff possibilities based on how the bottom of the NBA Eastern Conference standings look right now. Teams like the Philadelphia 76ers, Milwaukee Bucks, Brooklyn Nets and Boston Celtics are all legitimate NBA Finals contenders out of the Eastern Conference. This is a new Hawks team and already beating the Nets and 76ers proves they have both the talent and the mental makeup to compete with anyone in the East. The NBA is better when young stars shine on bright stages, and seeing Young in his first playoff series would be a huge draw.No. 8 seed: Miami HeatThe Miami Heat are the defending Eastern Conference champions and currently sit in ninth place heading into Friday’s slate. There is some context needed for the early struggles, such as Jimmy Butler, Goran Dragic and Tyler Herro missing some time. But for the sake of fun, let’s say the Heat can’t climb up the standings, get into the play-in tournament, and finish as the No. 8 seed. If they can get their stars back on the same page, no one...
In hilarious fashion, New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton admitted he stole the Jameis Wintston postseason touchdown play from the Chicago Bears.  While the Tampa Bay Buccaneers may have gone on to beat the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl, they surely weren’t perfect at times in the postseason. The New Orleans Saints reminded them of that in the Divisional Round, which the Bucs did win at the end of the day. However, in that game, New Orleans somehow made the Tampa Bay defense look absolutely foolish on a trick play which resulted in Jameis Winston tossing a touchdown against his former team. As it turns out, Sean Payton stole that play from the Chicago Bears. Seriously.Sean Payton stealing a play from the Chicago Bears is incredibleAs it turns out, the Bears ran the same play against the Saints the week before, but Javon Wims dropped the ball. Payton decided to pull a fast one on the Bucs and ran the same thing against Todd Bowles’ defense. We all know how things turned out: Jameis Winstons touchdown was...

Where are the Chiefs as they start looking to the playoffs? It is hard to call a team that went 14-1 while playing their starters overrated, but that might be a word that comes to mind when thinking of their postseason chances. The Chiefs have not “finished strong,” and every win since the start of November has come by just one score, including tight games against Atlanta, Carolina and Denver. Of course during that stretch Kansas City also beat teams in playoff contention, such as the buccaneers, the Dolphins and the Saints, and even the Raiders back in Week 11 when Las Vegas was still in the playoff...

Super Bowl bettors will need every bit of time between now and the evening of Super Bowl 55 to analyze all the propositions that Las Vegas sportsbooks are offering. The Superbook at the Westgate released its set Thursday night: 32 pages of wagering options that go way beyond the standard point spread, moneyline and over/under. (The Las Vegas Sun published the whole card.) There’s the standard fare, such as alternate point spreads, head-to-head matchups and who will score first.  And then there’s the oddball stuff, specifically the cross-sport matchups.  SN’s SUPER BOWL 55 PICKS: Bill Bender | Vinnie Iyer Books have noticed how popular such wagers have become, and this year, the Superbook mixed football with basketball, soccer, hockey, golf, tennis and even rugby to produce a mind-blowing set of props. The fanbase should be thanking Beasley for risking further injury over the past month. Without the slot man, who knows how deep the postseason run would have gone? Getty Las Vegas Raiders HC Jon Gruden. It’s only been three years since Jon Gruden returned to the Raiders but confidence in his ability as a coach has started to wane for many. He may have a Super Bowl under his belt but Gruden hasn’t led a team to more than 10 wins since 2005. The most frustrating thing about his second stint with the Raiders is that the team was in a position to make the playoffs in 2019 and 2020 but fell apart. Owner Mark Davis isn’t going to fire Gruden barring an unforeseen circumstance but the veteran coach should be feeling pressure to win. Davis gave him a ton of money so he can stay patient. However, the fan base lost patience a long time ago. Another non-winning season and Gruden could be in trouble. In fact, Chris Roling of Bleacher Report believes that the coach is already on the hot seat: Simply put, a team doesn’t invest in a big name like Gruden to hit 8-8. Little old West Virginia sets pace on vaccine rollout Federal authorities arrest the mother of Tennessee man who was pictured holding plastic restraints during Capitol riots Who is the oldest NFL quarterback? Tom Brady, Drew Brees & the old guys in 2021 playoffs The 2020 NFL playoffs feature plenty of veteran players, but especially at the quarterback position. Players like Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Philip Rivers and Ben Roethlisberger will lead the way in age as they all seek to improve their impressive resumes. With the recent retirement of Matt Schaub, these four quarterbacks now make up four of the five oldest quarterbacks in the league. The only older quarterback still lingering around is Josh McCown (41) who was signed the Texans' active roster in November. He didn't play for Houston, and will likely retire (for a third time) after this season, but he's still listed on the team's roster. Ben Roethlisberger referred to himself, Tom Brady, Drew Brees and Philip Rivers as "all the old guys." He said, "If we were sitting at home, and people were talking about the...
Here are Sunday’s NFL playoff predictions: Cleveland Browns (+10) over KANSAS CITY CHIEFS; Over 57.5 The Browns did have some luck on the first-play touchdown vs. the Steelers, but that was not the only reason they jumped out to a 28-0 lead. And that was without coach Kevin Stefanski, who returns for this one. This is a team that can put up a lot of points, but also one that seems to have a street-fighter mentality. They’re not the Chiefs by a long shot, but Kansas City does enter with an ATS record of 1-6-1 in its past eight games. In addition, the ref is Clay Martin, and road teams have covered in 70 percent of his career games (thanks to VSiN’s Josh Appelbaum for the referee trends). The total on this game has skyrocketed three points since it was posted. Though we’re not getting the best number, the Over is still the side with the sharper players. Chiefs 35, Browns 27. Mark Ingram has barely played for several weeks now, but the Ravens benching him for salary cap reasons in the playoffs is something different. The Baltimore Ravens will play the Buffalo Bills on Saturday night with a trip to the AFC Championship Game on the line. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, running back Mark Ingram will be a healthy scratch again. Ravens’ RB Mark Ingram will be a healthy scratch tonight, per source. Ingram is fully healthy and is said to understand that this is a business decision for Baltimore due to salary-cap considerations. He’s supportive of his team and ready to contribute when his number is called. — Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) January 16, 2021 Ingram was a healthy scratch for the Wild Card Round as well. He played in Week 17, with nine carries for 39 yards in game that meant nothing to the Ravens, But he was also a healthy scratch in Week 15 and Week 16, which was preceded by playing just one snap in Week 14. An ankle injury in Week 6 cost him two...

Giants coach Joe Judge was unhappy with the Philadelphia Eagles for their performance in Week 17, losing to the Washington Football Team and erasing New York from playoff contention. While Judge’s beef with the Eagles was what all fans were thinking at the time, he admitted in a radio interview with WFAN on Tuesday that the team should have won more games. CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM "Look, that’s our fault. Point blank. We have to do better. 6-10 is not a playoff team," Judge said. "That’s the reality. That’s what it is. You don’t deserve to be in the playoffs with that. Our guys understand that. We’re not trying to sit back and make some excuse, or sit back and paint some picture that someone else owes us anything. They don’t. We owe it to ourselves to go out there and take advantage. "What I was commenting on was specifically was about our players asking me about that and how I would respond to it. I was clear about what my message to the team was...

Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield is the "old guy" in the AFC playoffs. Mayfield is only 25 years old and in his third season with the Browns but is still the oldest among the quarterbacks left in the conference playoffs. Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson are all younger than the former Oklahoma standout. The notion of being the oldest starting quarterback in the AFC playoffs was brought up Wednesday during his media availability with reporters. CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM "My mother-in-law sent me something the other day and told me I was the old guy," Mayfield said. "It is because I took my victory lap loud and proud at Oklahoma. Somebody sent me just how close everybody is in age. It is pretty crazy to see between Josh, Lamar and Pat. Pat has the most experience out of all of us because he was three-and-done at Texas Tech. Nowhere does this subject become more important than the playoffs, which we happen to be smack dab in the middle of now.  While players, coaches and executives feel the heat in the playoffs, you better believe refs do, too. The NFL has never seen a playoff matchup quite like the upcoming one between Tom Brady’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Drew Brees’ New Orleans Saints. CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM Brees will take the field for the Saints on Sunday two days after turning 42 as the young gun in this matchup against the 43-year-old Brady, who has shattered nearly every record for longevity in the NFL. Brees has thrown for more yards than any QB in the regular season with 80,358 and ranks second in TD passes with 571. Brady holds the mark for touchdowns with 581 and trails only Brees in yardage with 79,204. This marks just the second time since at least 1950 that the NFL’s top two players in career yards passing will meet in the playoffs. Florida coach Dan Mullen thinks it’s time for the bowl system to change. With another successful college football season in the books, it’s not time for the annual event of debating playoff expansion. Well, in order for that to happen, the man leading the gators thinks we need to “let go” of our current bowl system. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by Florida Gators Football (@gatorsfb) Mullen said the following about bowls and the playoff during a Monday appearance on ESPN, according to 247Sports: What bowl games mean are really special. I think when the playoffs started, you knew expansion would have to come. I was watching a clip on the 150th anniversary of college football — just happened to turn it on — and Bobby Bowden is on there saying ‘as long as we keep bowl integrity, we’ll be okay.’ When the playoff started and it went to four games, I think it became a matter of time. Now, is that...
