A couple of weeks back, I had the pleasure of talking to Brian Shaw for the better part of an hour. In case his name does not immediately ring a bell, Shaw is the four-time winner of the official World’s Strongest Man competition. He has won more than 25 international strongman competitions overall and, long story short here, let’s just leave it at this: he’s a very strong and highly accomplished human being. So, when I found out that Shaw and I had some things in common, it was quite heartening. That common ground? Aside from sharing the same birth year, he and I also lack the ability to tear T-Rex Tape. That’s right, during the course of our conversation, Brian Shaw and I talked about the tape. He had tested the stuff out and, along with not being able to tear the tape crosswise (lengthwise, it rips apart into clean, precise strips), he had also used the tape to pull a firetruck. Because, of course. T-REX Ferociously Strong UV Resistant Waterproof Duct TapeBuy at Amazon$12Free Shipping | Free...
SANTA CLARA — When the going got tough for the 49ers’ offense last season, the team turned to wide receiver Deebo Samuel. He nearly took them to the Super Bowl with his do-it-all efforts as both a pass catcher and a running back. Well, the Niners are in a tough spot again with the season-ending injury to quarterback Trey Lance in Week 2. An offseason’s work of offensive adaptations for the first-year starter will have to be scrapped or reconfigured for the remainder of the year. Jimmy Garoppolo should not be running the read option. But don’t be surprised if the Niners once again turn to Samuel — their offensive dynamo — to carry both the ball and this team. After the 49ers started last season 3-5 and with Garoppolo struggling and injured, the edict from head coach and offensive play-caller Kyle Shanahan was clear — get the ball to Deebo as early and often as possible. It didn’t matter if Samuel was lined up as a wide receiver, running back, fullback, or if...
California air regulators will issue a ban on the sale of new gasoline-powered cars by 2035, as well as set interim targets to phase the cars out. When the California Air Resources Board measure passes, it will be the first of such bans in the world. Board member Daniel Sperling told CNN that this is a monumental moment. “This is the most important thing that CARB has done in the last 30 years. It’s important not just for California, but it’s important for the country and the world,” Sperling said. Source: Forbes Breaking News/Youtube The new rules will also set quotas for new zero-emission vehicles. Beginning in 2026, 35 percent of new cars, SUVs, and small pickups that are sold in California will be required to be zero-emission vehicles. This percent will increase each year, with 51 percent of all new car sales in 2028, 68 percent in 2030, until finally reaching 100 percent in 2035. The quotas allow for 20 percent of zero-emission cars that are sold to be plug-in hybrids. Luckily, it seems that most people...

AN EXPERT has revealed a list of things you can do that will save you hundreds on your utility bill. With Brits suffering through cost-of-living crisis that could last more than another year, households all across the nation are looking for more ways to spend less. 3Moving the sofa away from the radiator could save you more than a hundred every yearCredit: Getty But while the energy price cap is set to rise by a further £600 later this October, there are simple ways to minimise the expenses, according to a whizz. Speaking to The Express, Holly Herbert from webuyanyhouse.co.uk revealed a few changes that could save homeowners hundreds of pounds on their utility bills. Here, the property expert recommended ditching regular light bulbs and replacing them with LEDs. This task, she claimed, could save a household up to £854 a year. ''LED bulbs use a fraction of the electricity compared to normal bulbs. “Most LEDs use at least 75 percent less energy, saving you a huge amount on your bill,'' Holly explained. JPMorgan Chase has revealed a plan for its new global headquarters that will be a massive 60-story skyscraper powered entirely by renewable energy. Source: CBS New York/Youtube JPMorgan Chase, the American multinational investment banking giant, will complete the 1,388-foot-tall tower in 2025. According to the architects behind the revolutionary design, it will break numerous records and become New York’s largest “all-electric” building. The tower will hover over Midtown Manhattan and will achieve “net-zero operational emissions,” according to a joint press release from the company and architects. They will achieve this partly by using power from a hydroelectric plant. They will be implementing energy efficiency into every corner of the new building, including triple-glazed windows, systems to reduce water usage by 40 percent, and sensors to monitor and reduce energy consumption. They will also at least double the ground-level outdoor space with a public plaza and widened sidewalks. There will be “wellness facilities” like a health and fitness center, air filtration systems, indoor greenery, and touchless technology. Construction has already begun, and architects say that 97 percent of the...

THIS mind-bending optical illusion is set to leave your eyes confused if you stare at it for too long. All you have to do is scroll on the image a few times- what do you see? 1You need to scroll a few times on the black and white imageCredit: Reddit Even though it seems like just an image of black and white stripes, it can change if you scroll on it quickly. The perfectly still image appears to be wobbling when you move it. The tricky picture has left social media users baffled- and with a slightly blurry vision. A Redditor said: "you can also move your phone around instead of scrolling." Another one responded: "Don't even need to, my eyes are trippin' out as it is." And one commented: "I got the same effect just moving phone up down so don't think frame rate has anything to do with it?" Meanwhile, another optical illusion can reveal everything about your emotional stability. If you look at the image and see a lock first, then you're someone who loves to "explore...

For those who have wondered what Turner Sports’ “Inside the NBA” crew is like while they are watching a game, they finally get their chance to find out during this weekend’s All-Star Game. Ernie Johnson, Charles Barkley, Shaquille O’Neal and Kenny Smith will be doing “Inside the All-Star Game” on Sunday. The alternate broadcast will air on TBS while TNT has the traditional feed with Kevin Harlan, Reggie Miller and Dwyane Wade. Johnson said Tuesday that the intent is to react to the game and tell stories, but that it remains a blank canvas as far as how things progress. “I’m not exactly sure what it’s gonna look like. I don’t know what kind of rabbit holes these guys are gonna go down in the course of that broadcast and what they’re going to bring up. And that is the beauty of it,” Johnson said. “I think it’s gonna be a blast. The possibilities of what’s discussed and what stories are told is kind of unlimited. And that’s frightening and exciting at the same time.” The TBS broadcast will also...

The man who brought you Shake Shack is demanding that you to get your COVID-19 booster shot if you want to eat in his restaurants. New York City restaurateur Danny Meyer, who founded the burger palace and the more upscale Michelin starred Gramercy Tavern, announced on CNBC on Wednesday that in order to beat back the current infection wave all diners, staffers and new employees will have to get a booster jab if they want to eat at three of his Manhattan restaurants.  From January 1, all workers and diners wanting to eat indoors at 18 of Meyer's restaurants, including, Gramercy Tavern, Union Square Cafe and Manhattan in New York City and Anchovy Social in Washington DC, will need to show proof of their booster vaccination.  It's not clear whether Meyer will mandate booster shots for indoor dining at Shake Shack, which he founded and where he serves on the board, and his hospitality group, Union Square Hospitality, has not responded to a DailyMail.com request for comment.  'Hospitality is a team sport — it's kind of like putting on a play...
EDDIE HEARN confirmed Anthony Joshua will not step aside from his rematch for Oleksandr Usyk. Joshua was beaten by Usyk in September and had the right to an immediate rematch in his contract. 2Anthony Joshua and promoter Eddie HearnCredit: PA:Press Association But Tyson Fury fancied fighting AJ's Ukrainian rival instead for all the heavyweight marbles in an undisputed title fight. Joshua and Hearn were at least open to considering a deal, but now the WBC has ordered Fury to fight Whyte. It looks to end any hopes of a unification and all-but guarantees AJ will rematch Usyk next year. Promoter Hearn told Betfred: “No he’s not. He’s not been involved in any conversations. "I’ve been involved in a few conversations with a couple of people who’ve discussed a concept where AJ has a comeback fight, Fury and Usyk fight and then AJ fights the winner. "But we forgot the Dillian Whyte part of that jigsaw. Now the Fury versus Whyte fight has been ordered then that concept has evaporated, which is good as...

States are beginning to allow all adults aged 18 and older to receive a COVId-19 vaccine booster dose if they want one.  Current federal guidelines only allow Americans to receive the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna boosters if they are aged 65 and older or are at risk due to underlying conditions or their jobs, while anyone who is an adult can get a Johnson & Johnson booster shot. But Colorado is going a step further and saying all adults should get one to protect themselves in case of a winter surge. On Thursday, Colorado Gov Jared Polis (D) signed an executive order allowing residents to get a booster dose. Meanwhile, on the same day, officials from the California Department of Public Health said no fully vaccinated adult should be denied a booster shot and are pushing for all adults to be allowed to get an extra dose. It moves the U.S. closer to completing the Biden administration's goal of boosters for all adults, which was announced over the summer.   Colorado Gov Jared Polis signed an executive order on Thursday allowing all residents...

DEFENCE Secretary Ben Wallace today makes a startlingly candid defence of Britain’s military involvement in Afghanistan, writes The Sun’s Deputy Political Editor Kate Ferguson. Below, he insists countless British and Afghan lives were saved thanks to our Armed Forces’ sacrifice. 3We must honour our debt to Afghanistan and get out all those who helped us, says Ben WallaceCredit: Reuters But Mr Wallace, a former Scots Guards captain who served in Northern Ireland, has also previously hit out at the US for hastily quitting Afghanistan. He has blamed Donald Trump’s “rotten deal” with the Taliban for leading to the Afghan government’s rapid fall and the chaos now gripping the country. Mr Wallace tried to get allies to stay after US President Joe Biden decided to cut and run. But with other nations unwilling, he decided it was impossible for Britain to go it alone. Mr Wallace says we will stand by the Afghans who bravely worked with our troops over the past 20 years and get as many to safety as possible. EVERY soldier has their conflict. After House Republicans voted to remove Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) as chair of the conference, the lawmaker pledged to ensure Donald Trump would never get “near the Oval Office” again. “Going forward, the nation needs a strong Republican Party,” she said. “The nation needs a party that is based upon fundamental principles of conservatism and I am committed and dedicated to ensuring that that’s how this party goes forward and I plan to lead the fight to do that.” A reporter then noted that Trump may end up back in the Oval Office in 2024, asking Cheney if she was prepared to prevent that. “I will do everything I can to ensure that the former president never again gets anywhere near the oval office. We have seen the danger that he continues to provoke with his language,” Cheney said. “We have seen his lack of commitment and dedication to the Constitution. And I think it is very important that we make sure whomever we elect is somebody who will be faithful to the Constitution.” Cheney then reiterated that she wants the Republican Party...

The life of Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, is one of such astonishing length and intensity, stretching so far back into the unreachable past and containing so much incident, adversity and adventure that it takes Shakespeare to sum it up: ‘We that are young shall never see so much, nor live so long.’ In fact the whole passage from the closing scene of King Lear is remarkably fitting at this moment of public mourning and reflection on the 99 years that Prince Philip spent on Earth: ‘The weight of this sad time we must obey. Speak what we feel, not what we ought to say. The oldest hath borne most.’ In trying to encompass this important moment in our national life, The Mail on Sunday first of all offers its most sincere condolences to the Queen on a loss that is both deeply private and unavoidably public.  We have lost a significant national figure, a good and brave man, the Queen’s most loyal subject, a great fund of experience and wisdom, and an anchor The whole idea of a Royal...
On Thursday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “The Last Word,” White House Senior Adviser for COVID Response Andy Slavitt stated that “everyone is going to have a chance to be vaccinated by the Fourth of July.” And that by then, “we’re going to be in a situation where many of the things in our lives, not all of them, but many of the things that we cherish so much, namely, spending time with one another, we’re going to have that back.” Slavitt said, “I think everyone is going to have a chance to be vaccinated by the Fourth of July. But the CDC said, even today, that a grandparent who’s vaccinated can go visit, and, yes, even hug a grandchild who hasn’t been vaccinated, without a mask, so long as they’re low risk, which, in most cases, is going to be the case. So, we’re already able to take steps. And I think, you know, the president is not one to come out and be overly optimistic. He’s one to be very straight with the public. And I think what he said...

President Joe Biden is big on equality and has spent much of his life fighting and campaigning for it. Indeed, in his inauguration speech on January 20, he reminded us that the American dream is predicated on the belief 'that we are all created equal'. But he did so with this sobering caveat: 'Our history has been a constant struggle between the American ideal, that we are all created equal, and the harsh, ugly reality that racism, nativism, and fear have torn us apart. The battle is perennial and victory is never secure. Through civil war, the Great Depression, world war, 9/11, through struggle, sacrifice, and setback, our better angels have always prevailed. In each of our moments enough of us have come together to carry all of us forward, and we can do that now.' I was very moved when he said this, and I believed his commitment to equality for all was entirely sincere. But now I wonder if President Biden even understands what the word means? According to the dictionary, it is defined as 'the state of...

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are 'emulating the Obamas' successful business model and will move on to creating a book next' - but it won't be a tell-all on the royal family, according to a royal expert. Speaking to 9Honey, royal commentator Katie Nicholl said having a publishing deal is likely to be the next step for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex after they recently announced their Archewell Audio podcast with Spotify, which followed a deal with Netflix. Since leaving the White House in 2016, Barack and Michelle Obama revealed a similar business route - with the couple announcing a Netflix deal with their company Higher Ground Productions and soon after, a Spotify podcast. 'The Obamas' Higher Ground [production company] was always going to be the business model for the Sussexes and that's exactly what we're seeing,' said Ms Nicholl. Joe Biden vowed Thursday he would move to transition away from oil and replace it with wind and solar by 2050 – as President Donald Trump claimed he knows more about wind energy than the Democratic nominee, as he lamented windmills 'kill all the birds' 'Would you close down the oil industry?' Trump asked Biden during a back-and-forth on the environment and energy sources at the debate in Nashville, Tennessee Thursday evening. 'I would transition from the oil industry, yes,' Biden affirmed, vowing to put a process in place to do so by 2050 if he were elected. 'Oh, a transition. That's a big statement,' Trump said. Biden shot back: 'It is a big statement.' 'Why would you do that?' the debate moderator, NBC News' Kristen Welker, cut in. 'Because the oil industry pollutes it significantly,' Biden said. 'Because it has to be replaced by renewable energy – over time, over time. And I've stopped giving to the oil industry, I would stop giving them federal subsidies. You won't give federal subsidies to the gas -- excuse me, to solar...

"I know that Koeman made him continue to hope and that Memphis was ready to make sacrifices. "Today, he is disappointed, but not towards Lyon, more towards Barcelona. "He is going to do everything he can to find himself in a position where he moves...
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Wednesday warned that the U.S. will “do all the things we need to do” to ensure the snapback of U.N. sanctions on Iran -- even as the move appears not to have the support of allies at the Security Council. “As for the actions that we will take, the U.N. will take the sanctions it always does, these will be valid U.N. Security Council resolutions and the United States will do what it always does, it will do its share as part of its responsibilities to enable peace, this time in the Middle East, we’ll do all the things we need to do to ensure that those sanctions are enforced,” Pompeo said at a  press conference alongside U.K. Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab. UN SECURITY COUNCIL REJECTS US MOVE TO 'SNAPBACK' IRAN SANCTIONS; TRUMP ADMINISTRATION PLEDGES TO KEEP GOING   The U.S. last month triggered the “snapback” mechanism in U.N. Security Council resolution 2231 -- the resolution that enshrined the 2015 Iran nuclear deal -- setting a 30-day countdown for all U.N. sanctions and an expiring arms...
AS any parent will tell you, getting the kids ready or school in the morning can be an absolute nightmare, especially after so many months of homeschooling and summer holidays. But many mums have taken steps to make the mornings less manic by implementing "school uniform stations" to help their kids get into a seamless routine. 7 Another mum shared her own daily tub systemCredit: Facebook The thing is, no one can agree on what the best kind of station is best, with some mums splashing out on extravagant personalised stations while others say coat-hangers will do for their kids. Some have opted for carefully labelled boxes, with some even inscribing them with messages and slogans to make mornings cheerier for their little ones. Meanwhile thrifty parents have opted for hooks or tubs - with one mum admitting she stashes the kids' school clothes right next to the TV in the living room. Here are some of the most organised set-ups helping busy mums. Bright and beautiful trays 7 The bright rainbow drawers came from B&MCredit: Facebook Taking to the...
Royal fans have been challenged to identify these nine insignia - and it is tricky enough that even the most confident players will find themselves stumped.  Instagram fan account loopycrown3 shared a selection of the badges, monograms and coats of arms that adorn the thank you letters and Christmas cards she has received from members of the British royal family.  Some are easy enough to guess from the initials or symbolism, but others will require an in-depth knowledge of less well-known members of the monarchy.   Think you have what it takes? Scroll down to see all nine and then check your answers at the bottom. FEMAIL has also given a handy explanation on what each one means to help expand your royal knowledge. 1.  RELATED ARTICLES Previous 1 Next Tennis fan Kate Middleton marks what should have been the... SOME celebrities have not had the best pandemic. Tone-deaf and condescending antics of singers and film stars have made even politicians look in touch by comparison. ⚠️ Read our coronavirus live blog for the latest news & updates 7Contrary to what some celebs will tell you, some people will be much harder hit by the crisis than others Credit: Getty 7In her recent tone-deaf video, Madonna declared that coronavirus is 'the great equaliser' while lying in a bathtub full of rose petalsCredit: instagram.com/madonna One video posted by Madonna is a classic example. In it, she declares that coronavirus is “the great equaliser” while lying in a bathtub full of rose petals. “It doesn’t matter how rich you are,” she says solemnly, “where you live, how old you are . . .  it’s made us all equal.” What utter nonsense. The virus poses a greater threat to my elderly mum than it does to me. Men from working-class backgrounds are more likely to die, as are people from ethnic-minority communities. Coronavirus doesn’t just discriminate when it comes to health. It discriminates according to...
Business Insider Justin Bieber was recently accused of sexual assault by two people on Twitter: an anonymous user who goes by Danielle and a woman named Kadi. TMZ and People reported that Bieber is suing both women for defamation and seeking more than $20 million in damages. According to legal documents, Bieber calls the allegations "fabricated lies" and claims his accusers are seeking attention. Bieber's decision to sue is a silencing tactic that betrays his female fans. There's no reason a rich pop star needs to demand millions of dollars from anonymous, nameless women — unless he wants to discourage future victims from coming forward. Additionally, neither woman has attempted to make her identity widely known, which invalidates the argument that Bieber's accusers are motivated by fame. If Bieber's true intention is to prove his innocence, he could have sued for a very low amount — like Taylor Swift's symbolic $1 lawsuit — to make a point. Visit Insider's homepage for more stories. As I watch the continuing efforts to defund or abolish police across the country, I have been struck by the radical Left’s willingness to stick with its dangerous ideology even when Americans are killed because of it. According to Fox 32 Chicago, over Father’s Day weekend, there were 104 people shot and 14 killed in the Windy City. Tragically, these statistics include a 3-year-old who was shot while in the backseat of his father’s car. This follows the last week of May, in which 85 people were shot in Chicago, with 24 of them perishing. Fox 9 in Minneapolis reported there were a half a dozen shootings over the weekend that left 21 injured and two dead. These horrible casualties include a 17-year-old who was shot while driving. The people in the car with him when he was shot dropped him in the street and left him for dead. And, early on Sunday, there were 12 people shot while standing in line at a restaurant. One died. The weekend before, six people were wounded, and one was killed in other shootings. REP. FRED KELLER: DEMOCRATS WRONG...
