The food scene in one Fairfield County city is getting a little larger with the addition of two new restaurants, both of them faves with foodies. According to Hey Stamford!, Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana is planning to open in Stamford, as the pizza giant continues its expansion across the area. But, they won't be alone, Shake Shack is also joining the Stamford ranks with a new location and will be adjacent to the Frank's, city officials said. Both will be located at 64 High Ridge Road on the property that housed a Bank of America drive-thru location. The new Shake Shack -- yum burgers and shakes --  will be the company’s fourth in Fairfield County and sixth in the state. The company also has locations in Danbury, Westport, and Darien. Not to be outdone, Pepe’s -- think crispy slightly charred crust -- owns seven restaurants throughout the state with its home location in New Haven. No word on they will open. DENVER (CBS4) – Saturday marked the end of one chapter and bittersweet beginning of another for the famed Welton Street Café. After 23 years, the staple in the Five Points neighborhood officially shut its doors at its longtime location off 27th and Welton Street. The owners hope to move and reopen at a new location in the future, but a lot of work and money is needed beforehand. (credit: CBS) At the heart of a growing city, the Five Points neighborhood is changing, but the Welton Street Café has remained a constant. “This is where you come when you get out of church. It’s where you come after a repast, for your funeral. It’s a place you come for breakfast,” said longtime customer Maisha Fields. The restaurant has been Denver’s home of fried catfish and honey hot chicken, but to many it means so much more. “When I first moved to the Colorado, I wanted to find some soul. I wanted to find a community,” said Shawn McWilliams. “This was the first place I was introduced to. It’s been community...

THE HAGUE, Netherlands (AP) — Armed police gathered Tuesday evening outside the Apple Store in Amsterdam amid reports that an armed assailant in the store is holding a hostage there. Amsterdam police said in a tweet that “somebody with a firearm is in the store, police are at the location with many (specialized) units to bring the situation under control.” The tweet did not identify the location as the Apple Store, but images and films on social media appeared to show an armed person in the store, apparently holding somebody else. Local broadcaster AT5 suggested that the standoff was the result of an attempted armed robbery. Further details were not immediately available. Copyright © 2022 The Associated Press. Scientists say a massive solar wind from the Sun is orbiting the Earth. Scientists estimate that it will fall into the Earth’s atmosphere this evening or tomorrow morning. The solar wind was formed in a sunspot in the region of AR 2936. The region, which is about the size of the Earth, has seen a number of solar winds in the past. The solar wind reaches the earth at a speed of 23 lakh kilometers per hour. Before landing on Earth, the NOAA Discover spacecraft will detect the solar wind, followed by a crash. The solar wind was caused by a four-hour solar flare on January 30 in the sun. The solar wind is made up of billions of matter particles. The new solar wind hits Earth just weeks after a solar wind erupts from region AR2929. Earlier, communication in the Indian Ocean was temporarily halted due to the solar wind. When the solar wind approaches the earth, it interacts with the earth’s magnetic field and causes a geomagnetic storm. This could lead to a crisis for space probes and...

Shoppers in Westchester County will have a new wholesale club to shop with the addition of BJ's. Town of Greenburgh Supervisor Paul Feiner announced on Monday, Jan. 31, the wholesale club would be opening in the old Kmart space at the Crossroads Shopping Center. The store will be the first in the center since the closure of Waldbaum's in 2012 to offer a wide range of food products (fresh produce, meats, refrigerated, frozen foods, beverages, bakery, etc.), in addition to a wide variety of non-food goods.  "Many residents of Fairview who live near the Crossroads Shopping Center have asked in the past for a store that will sell groceries at this location," Feiner said. Having BJs at this location will be helpful to seniors who live on or off of Manhattan Avenue and who don't have cars, he added. Other stores planning to move to the center include the PGA Tour Superstore, and soon-to-be new additions Phenix Salon Suites and Duck Donuts.  The BJs store is anticipated to start construction soon with a targeted opening at the end of this...
