Chicago police said on Monday they believe a hit-and-run which killed three men was an intentional attack on the crowd outside a gay bar - but that it is too early to judge whether it was a hate crime. The three young black men - Donald Huey, 25; Jaylen Ausley, 23; and Devonta Vivetter, 27 - were hurled into the air when a sedan smashed into them at high speed in the early hours of Sunday, outside a well-known gay bar in the South Side. A fourth man was left injured in the crash, which happened as a large group was standing in the road, seemingly arguing.  Brendan Deenihan, chief of detectives, said on Monday the crash is not thought to be an accident, but it wasn't yet concluded that it was related to their race or sexuality.  'It appears to be intentional,' said Deenihan.  'We don't have any evidence to support that somebody was trying to harm these individuals based because of their race, religion, etc.  'That can change once we get more witnesses and a suspect in.'  The three...

THE Young and the Restless fans have been left furious after the show killed off Rey in a horrific car accident during Wednesday’s episode. The ground was still heavy after torrential overnight rain and as Tiger Woods began to climb the steep slope on the fairway of the first hole at Augusta National on Thursday, it was obvious it was already starting to hurt. Woods’ face did not betray the pain but he could not disguise his limp, however hard he tried. A woman’s voice called out from the huge gallery to encourage him. ‘Keep going,’ she yelled. There have been times at the US Masters this week when it felt difficult to remember whether you were watching the world’s greatest golf tournament or paying someone a hospital visit. Playing through pain, emotional as well as physical, has always been a central part of the Woods legend and after more than a year away he has returned to the stage as competitor, king, icon and martyr, too. The narrative of Woods-as-victim makes a heady cocktail when it is mixed with the narrative of Woods-as-winner because it suggests that his victories are greater because of everything he has had to overcome. At Augusta this week,...
Tiger Woods believes he is in with a shout of winning at Augusta after he gave the clearest indication yet that he will compete for a sixth Masters title.  Woods first did an interview with Masters Radio where he was asked if he is committed to playing this week. He smiled and winked before dragging it out to say he would reveal all in his press conference.   'It is great to be back and to be able to feel the energy and the excitement again. Hopefully we are going to have a great week,' he said to open his press conference.  Quickly pressed on whether he has committed to playing, Woods added: 'As of right now I feel like I am going to play.' Asked if he can win, 14 months on from shattering his leg in a horrific car crash, he was defiant in response. 'I do. I can hit it just fine. I have no qualms what I can do physically from a golf standpoint,' he added. 'Walking is the hard part. 72 holes is a long road. It...
An ex-soldier who was the second man to undergo a full face transplant in US history says it is 'the best decision I ever made'. Mitch Hunter, from Indianapolis in Indiana, had a full face transplant in 2011, a decade after a car he was in crashed into a 10,000 volt electrical pylon. After pushing a female passenger out of the way of the electrical current, it pumped continuously through his body, mainly through his face, for five minutes.  Mr Hunter, now 42, was forced to spend two months in hospital, underwent 67 facial reconstructive surgeries and had part of his right leg amputated due to severe burns. A decade after the accident, Mr Hunter became just the second person in the US to undergo a face transplant, in a bid to stop children screaming at the sight of him in the street.  He received his face from a donor — a man who had died — and has now fully revealed his incredible transformation.  'Having the transplant was the best decision of my life, and it has helped me put...
Mick Schumacher suffered a horrific crash during qualifying for the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix but is thankfully conscious and has been flown to hospital. The Haas driver crashed into the wall at 170mph on the exit of Turn 12 on the Jeddah circuit, with his car being torn to pieces. The red flag was immediately raised to allow an ambulance on to the track, with Schumacher conscious and talking to doctors before being taken to the medical centre. The shocking nature of the crash was shown as the Haas car broke in two as it was lifted off the track. Haas tweeted that Schumacher, 23, is 'physically in a good condition' but that he would be taken to King Fahad Armed Forces Hospital for further checks.  'I spoke with his Mum and kept her updated,' Haas team principal Guenther Steiner said. 'He has no injuries that you can see, but they want to do some scans to make sure there was no impact from the forces. The impact broke up the digital [technology] so we heard nothing [on the radio] but...
Tiger Woods is back. Those are words golf fans weren’t sure they would ever be able to say earlier this year when Woods was involved in a near fatal car crash. The legendary golfer surprised many by announcing he would compete in the PNC Championship this weekend with his son Charlie Woods. His announcement came just days after his first press conference since the accident, when Woods acknowledged he will never return to the PGA Tour as a full-time participant. But Friday morning, the golf superstar and his son were on the course getting ready for the start of this weekend’s PNC Championship tournament which teed off with the pro-am portion of the event. The last time Woods played in a tournament was almost exactly one-year ago, when he and Charlie competed in the 2020 PNC Championship. Team Woods didn’t win the tournament last year, but they stole the show as sports fans marveled at the shocking resemblance and mirroring mannerisms between the two golfers. Two months later after last year’s event Woods was involved in a near fatal...

A California woman has revealed how she developed a strong New Zealand accent after a car accident left her in a coma for two weeks - despite having never even been there. Summer Diaz, 24, from Los Angeles, was hit by an SUV while crossing the street on November 25 last year, which caused her to develop foreign accent syndrome, a rare condition in which damage to the brain makes someone speak differently. 'I don't remember anything about that day. I came home from my job working with children who have autism. What are the details? Video surveillance captured the moment a mother and her young child were crossing a New York City street when an out-of-control driver swerved toward them and struck the two. Video showed the woman and her child flying up onto the hood of the vehicle as it slammed into a what appeared to be barbershop storefront. Body camera footage from the two officers — identified as Officer Rocco Fusco and Officer Paul Samoyedy, who were next door grabbing breakfast from a bagel shop — then showed the dramatic rescue. In the video, one person can be heard shouting, "We got a baby under the vehicle!" as a child is heard crying and the woman, screaming. With the help of bystanders, the officers are able to lift the vehicle off the ground and grab the baby from underneath the vehicle. The Yonkers Police Department says that the child and mother suffered "significant...

He was stunned for a few moments before getting back on his bike.  The Dutchman, who is the nephew of legendary cyclist Raymond Poulidor, finally gave up with one lap to go after losing a lot of ground on the other contestants.
