APPLE’S AirTags are new trackers that can help you find lost belongings – but can stalkers use them too? Fortunately the iPhone maker has built several features into the AirTag to stop stalkers in their tracks. 3AirTags are a genius new invention from AppleCredit: Apple AirTags were unveiled in April 2021, and are small electronic tags that can be attached to keys, backpacks, suitcases and more. You can then use Apple’s Find My app to locate these items if you ever lose them. They tap into the Find My network of devices, which flags up if an AirTag is near one of the millions of gadgets in the ecosystem. And when you’re near an AirTag, you can use iPhone’s technology to accurately find the tag in a small space. Some fear that these AirTags could be used by stalkers to keep tabs on victims. But Apple has created a system that attempts to stop this. 3You’ll be warned if an AirTag is tracking youCredit: Apple If an AirTag registered to someone else is moving with you consistently, your iPhone will...
Although they're best known for buzzing round in circles searching for bananas, scientists reveal fruit flies actually have a highly impressive range.  The species, Drosophila melanogaster, can fly up to nine miles (15 km) in a single journey, the researchers from California Institute of Technology (Caltech) reveal.  Impressively, this is around 6 million times their average body length, which is just 2.5 millimetres, or one tenth of an inch.  This would be like the average human covering just over 6,200 miles (10,000 kilometres) in a single journey – roughly the distance from the North Pole to the equator.   Caltech experts conducted experiments in a dry lakebed in California's Mojave Desert by releasing thousands of the flies and luring them into traps containing fermenting juice in order to determine their speeds.  Scroll down for video  Drosophila melanogaster is a small, common fly found near unripe and rotted fruit. What do you see when you watch these Boston Celtics? If you stare at them long enough they’re likely to morph into something completely different.  The 2021 Boston Celtics are a Rorschach test. Watch them play. What do you see? A dark horse, scarred but still standing, the proverbial grizzled team nobody wants to face? A sunset, retiring a long day that could have been so much brighter? The Celtics have won eight of 10 heading into games against Phoenix and at Brooklyn. Their lack of definition could forewarn a lost season. Or it could be what saves it. Boston has been one of the league’s better teams for a while. They’ve reached the conference finals three of the past four years. Their recent run of play suggests a team that’s finally clicking; the Celtics have been as impacted by Covid as almost any other team, so that would make sense. But a dive into those wins leaves much to be desired. Entering April, the Celtics were 7-14 against teams currently two or more games over .500. They’ve padded that...

The test follows a fatal 2019 Model S crash in Spring, Texas, over the weekend that elicited two federal investigations by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Police said, after a preliminary investigation, that they believe nobody was in the driver's seat of the Tesla at the time of the deadly crash. Comprehensive investigations have not been completed, and authorities have not said whether Autopilot or Tesla's premium automated driving system, marketed as Full Self-Driving or FSD, were in use at the time of the collision. For a better look at the 49ers’ roster and their NFL Draft needs, we’re taking a daily look at position groups. Today’s offering: Defensive line. WHO’S HERE Starters: Nick Bosa, Javon Kinlaw, Arik Armstead, D.J. Jones. Backups: Samson Ebukam, Dee Ford, Zach Kerr, Kevin Givens, Kentavius Street, Jordan Willis, Darrion Daniels, Alex Barrett, Daeshon Hall, Josiah Coatney. 2021 OUTLOOK Bosa (knee) and Ford (back) are coming off serious injuries, and although Bosa’s rehabilitation looks on track for the 2019 Defensive Rookie of the Year, the 49ers must be cautious with his workload. Ford’s comeback, if there is one, will be a bonus, hence the addition in free agency of edge rusher Samson Ebukam, and this week’s visit by Raiders’ castoff Arden Key. The 49ers need to reestablish a dominant defense through their front line, and last year showed how debilitating injuries can be to their depth, so they need to discover extra pass rushers off the edge, which also allows Armstead to shift from base end to an interior rusher. Kinlaw is coming off...
In this article AAPLApple AirtagSource: Apple Inc.On Tuesday, Apple announced a long-awaited gadget called AirTag. Users can attach the $29 coin-sized device to valuables like keys or a backpack, then locate it on a live map inside Apple's built-in Find My software. AirTag competes with a number of other products on the market, including from Tile, whose general counsel complained before Congress on Wednesday about Apple's overall dominance. But AirTag's most important differentiating feature isn't the technology inside the $29 coin-sized stainless steel gadget. It's other people's iPhones. AirTag doesn't have a GPS signal, which would rapidly drain its battery and raise privacy questions. Instead, when it's attached to a lost object, it sends out scrambled Bluetooth signals. For those signals to reach the reach the internet and inform the person who's looking for their lost device, they'll need to find an iPhone that's listening for them.VIDEO3:4303:43Apple announces lost item tracker called AirTagNews Videos"Using Bluetooth and the hundreds of millions of iOS, iPadOS, and macOS devices in active use around the world, the user can locate a missing device even...

Amazon’s Alexa-enabled devices can now help direct customers to COVID-19 vaccination sites, the company announced today. Users can ask, “Alexa, where can I get a COVID vaccine?” and hear a list of nearby places to get a shot. After hearing the list, users can also ask Alexa to call a vaccination site, which the company said in a blog post can help them get information about appointment availability. Making COVID-19 vaccine appointments by phone is often easier for older adults or other people who struggle to use online scheduling platforms. Amazon introduced an Alexa feature that could direct people to COVID-19 testing sites in February. Every adult in the US is now eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine after every state met President Joe Biden’s deadline to open up access by April 19th. The Biden administration said that 90 percent of people in the US should have a vaccination site within five miles of their home. Amazon hosted pop-up vaccine clinics in Seattle and is also working with health officials to vaccinate its front-line employees in a...
Now that every adult in the US is eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine, Amazon wants to make it as simple as possible to get your shots. Alexa now helps you find vaccination sites just by saying “where can I get a COVID vaccine?” to your smart speaker or other supporting device. You can specify a city if you want more than nearby results, and you can call a given site if you have questions about appointments. Alexa is also useful for learning about vaccine availability and eligibility in over 85 countries, and you can find COVID-19 testing locations much like you would vaccinations. There’s a good chance you’ll use a mapping app first, but there’s no doubt this is convenient — you can ask about those potentially life-saving vaccine doses while you’re busy making breakfast. If nothing else, asking your AI voice assistant about a COVID-19 shot is the definition of the 2021 cultural zeitgeist. The pandemic has made ordering restaurant takeout a little less of a guilty pleasure, both because it’s safer and it helps support local businesses. Google is now trying to make the process faster, too, by having Google Assistant fill in contact information and payment details automatically on Android phones after you find a restaurant via Google Search. To use the new feature, you have to search for whatever restaurant you’d like to order from in the Google app, then select the “Order Online” button on the restaurant’s information card. After making your food selections, you can tag in Google Assistant to complete the order using your stored contact and payment information from Google Pay and Chrome Autofill. There are also some big limitations to be aware of: Google tells The News Brig that Assistant will only be able to help with pickup orders for now, with deliveries coming at some point in the future. When lockdown was first imposed, as a sex coach I thought, well, this is going to be bad for business. All that time at home with nothing much to do? People will be tearing their clothes off and licking chocolate from each other’s bodies. They’ll spend whole days in bed together. Everyone predicted a baby boom. I fully expected the phone to stop ringing and all my libido coach workshops to empty overnight. I enjoyed dispensing advice on the breakfast TV sofa, but why would Phil and Holly need the wisdom of a sex expert if quarantining couples were groping each other over the cornflakes? But how wrong I was. The huge social experiment that is Covid lockdown has not been an aphrodisiac. On the contrary, what I thought would be a sex glut turned into a sex rut. And far from going silent, my phone has been ringing off the hook. Private clients are desperate to find out why their libido has fallen off a cliff in the pandemic — and learn how to get it back. All the...

It marked the bloodiest day since the junta (which also insists on calling the country the made-up name Myanmar) ousted the democratically elected government of Aung San Suu Kyi on Feb. 1. With more killed in military assaults on protests in the days since (at least five on Monday alone), the post-coup crackdown has brought more than 400 deaths, according to the Association of Political Prisoners. The junta is also enlarging its war on ethnic minorities from the Rohingya to the Karen people, as bombing has pushed thousands of villagers to seek refuge in Thailand. Then again, the military justifies its hold on power by claiming it’s the only...

March 26, 2021 2:58 PM | With information from EFE 15 minutes. The Government of the United States (USA) announced this Friday that it began a clinical study, with 12,000 volunteers, to find out if those vaccinated against COVID-19 can transmit the disease. “In about 5 months, we hope to be able to answer an important question: if people who have been vaccinated can become infected and have no symptoms, and if they can transmit the disease to other people.” This was announced by the main epidemiologist of the US Government, Anthony Fauci, at a press conference. The test will also determine if the vaccines limit the amount of virus that remains in the nose. Likewise, it will be evaluated if these reduce the possibility of contagion to other people with whom there is close contact. Study includes contacts of vaccinated and unvaccinated Fauci explained that the clinical trial began this Thursday and will last 5 months. 12,000 university students aged between 18 and 26 from some 20 study houses will participate in it. The volunteers will be divided into...

Open up the $69 million NFT that Beeple sold at Christie’s, and you won’t find much. The name of the artwork isn’t there. The name of the artist is missing. And crucially, you won’t even find the actual piece of art. That’s not a flaw in Beeple’s NFT — it’s just how the system works. It turns out, the house of cards that is the NFT system is even more precarious than it first appears. NFTs are fundamentally built on trust — trust that a seller won’t screw you over, trust that these tokens magically have value — and that holds true even at the deepest level of the system. Ultimately, you’re buying a collection of metadata defining what you own. “That’s an awfully expensive 404 error for buyers of these NFTs.” But there’s one significant gap in the system ensuring that an NFT is held together: NFTs use links to direct you to somewhere else where the art and any details about it are being stored. And as anyone who has browsed the internet before should know, links can...

He has asked the Court of Appeal to grant permission for a challenge, with the aim of having its findings overturned and a retrial ordered. At a hearing last week, his lawyers said new evidence refuted Ms Heard’s claim that she gave her £5.5million divorce settlement to charity. They said the 34-year-old’s “lie” had “tipped the scales against Mr Depp from the very beginning”. Adam Wolanski QC, representing News Group Newspapers, said the new evidence “would not have had any impact” on the result of the trial. Most read in...

Every major college coach wanted the 6-foot-10, 240-pound kid from Sachem High School on Long Island, but it was the late Jim Valvano who won the prize and put Iona College on the map. Jeff Ruland recalled Valvano’s siren-call pitch: “Come to New York. Come to Iona. Picture the night. It’s MSG, sold out, come with a bunch of guys from Long Island and let’s kick the s–t out of the No. 1 team in the country in front of 19,000 New Yorkers.” “It was Dare to Dream,” Ruland said. “That’s part of the reason why I went.” That dream was realized when Ruland and fellow Long Islanders Glenn Vickers and Kevin Hamilton trounced Darrell Griffith and Louisville, No. 2 at the time and the eventual national champion, 77-60, on Feb. 21, 1980. It was the greatest victory in Iona basketball history. “It’s one of the few regrets I have in my life,” Ruland told The Post, “that at the end of that game, I ran into the locker room instead of just standing at half-court and taking it all...
