NYU professor Scott Galloway fired off a series of jokes at the expense of new Twitter owner Elon Musk on CNN Newsroom Sunday, telling anchor Jim Acosta he wouldn’t be surprised if the social media platform goes down soon, but predicting that we would manage to survive its collapse. Musk’s tenure at Twitter has been rocky, sparring with advertisers, and an abruptly-halted rollout of a new $8-per-month verification checkmark under the “Twitter Blue” program, and laying off thousands of workers — then having to attempt to woo some of them back in the office. The sharp reduction in Twitter’s workforce from the layoffs and resignations has induced many Twitter users to speculate that the social media platform may soon fall apart entirely. On Saturday, Musk reinstated former President Donald Trump’s Twitter account. The ex-president, who was banned from most social media platforms over his incitement of the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol, has not yet tweeted since he was reinstated. Acosta welcomed Galloway on the show, mentioned how the professor had said last week that he wouldn’t be surprised...

Republican Senate hopeful Blake Masters said he was prepared to be a thorn in the side of party leader Mitch McConnell if he pulls off a win in his bad-tempered battle in Arizona. And, in an interview with DailyMail.com, he said he did not have to look far for a model of how to do that, praising Arizona's Democratic Sen. Kyrsten Sinema for the way she had stuck to her guns to get what she wanted from legislation. 'She's a very talented politician. She's good. She's active. She's really actively engaged,' he said. 'And I hear this from Republicans - if you got a problem you call Sinema's office you get a response.' In an evenly divided Senate, Sinema was able to use her vote to get what she wanted from party leaders trying to pass legislation. For Masters to use a Senate vote to secure action on the border he must first win election next week. Republican Senate hopeful Blake Masters says, if elected, he will use his vote in the Senate to hold up legislation and confirmations until...

Beloved action hero star Arnold Schwarzenegger visited the Auschwitz Nazi death camp on Wednesday to deliver the message of 'terminating prejudice once and for all.' The former Governor of California viewed the barracks, watchtowers and remains of gas chambers that endure as evidence of the Nazi extermination of Jews and others during World War II. He also met with a woman who as a 3-year-old child was subjected to experiments by the notorious Nazi doctor Josef Mengele, known as the Angel of Death infamous for his cruel experimentation on inmates at Auschwitz. 'This is a story that has to stay alive, this is a story that we have to tell over and over again,' he said after his visit to the site of the death camp, speaking in a former synagogue that now is home to the Auschwitz Jewish Center Foundation. 'Let's fight prejudice together and let's just terminate it once and for all,' Schwarzenegger said. He stood alongside Simon Bergson, who was born after the war to Auschwitz survivors. As Prince Philip’s biographer, and as the chairman of one of his favourite charities, I got to know the late Queen’s husband quite well over more than 40 years, and I thought the Duke of Edinburgh was irreplaceable. I was wrong. Observing King Charles III and his Queen Consort travelling to the four corners of the United Kingdom this week, watching them together every step of the way through the difficult, tense and crowded ten days since the Queen died, I see my old boss (and hero) reborn — in Camilla. If we regard the remarkable reign of Elizabeth II as a success — and most of us do — the joint author of that success was Prince Philip. And if Charles III’s reign proves to work out as sure-footedly as it has begun, the co-author of that success will be Camilla. Cobb, speaking to CBS News, said that while the chance of him being indicted is 'very high,' that Trump is more likely to be indicted over his connection to the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021, than anything the DOJ is currently investigating. The Department of Justice is currently reviewing classified records taken by the FBI from Mar-a-Lago, the former president's Florida estate. Cobb said: 'I think the president is in serious legal water, not so much because of the search, but because of the obstructive activity he took in connection with the January 6 proceeding.'  He specifically cited the president's 'attempts to interfere in the election count in Georgia, Arizona, Pennsylvania and perhaps Michigan.' That was the first time in American history that a president unconstitutionally attempted to remain in power illegally.'  Ex-White House lawyer Ty Cobb says that his old boss and former President Donald...

Kenney, a Democrat elected in 2015, said the recent increase in gun violence across the country has left him constantly worried about shootings occurring at major city events. "I don't enjoy the Fourth of July, I don't enjoy the Democratic National Convention, [and] I didn't enjoy the NFL draft [because] I'm waiting for something bad to happen all the time," Kenney said, according to the New York Post. Elon Musk's purchase of the largest individually-held stake in Twitter is being investigated by U.S. regulators after he delayed reporting the buy - and thus failed to provide sufficient warning that a takeover bid was looming. The investigation, currently in its early stages, could provoke a firestorm between the mercurial entrepreneur and the financial regulators, just as Musk is trying to wrap up his purchase of Twitter, approved on April 26. It also comes amid frenzied speculation about what the world's richest man will do to Twitter once he takes the reins.  On Tuesday, he said he would allow Donald Trump back on Twitter, in line with his previous declarations that he planned to err on the side of free speech rather than bans and censorship. On Wednesday, Jack Dorsey, the co-founder and former CEO, also denied recent speculation that he had been brought back to head the Musk-owned company. With the deal to take Twitter private expected to take two to three months to finalize, speculation is mounting as to what Musk will do. The 50-year-old's first move towards buying...

In this article TWTRBrendan Smialowski | Afp | Getty ImagesBillionaire Tesla CEO Elon Musk acknowledged Thursday he is "not sure" he'll actually be able to buy Twitter, hours after he revealed a $43 billion offer. Musk comments came at the TED2022 conference in Vancouver just hours after he revealed in a regulatory filing Thursday that he offered $54.20 per share to buy the platform. Twitter confirmed it had received the bid but its board must still review the offer, which values shares much lower than the $70 they reached last summer. But Musk had said the offer would be his "best and final" one. Musk said if he is able to buy the company and take it private, he would like to keep as many shareholders involved as allowed under that structure. Even though as the world's richest man he said he can "technically afford it" but "I don't care about the economics at all." Asked by TED's Chris Anderson if there was a "Plan B" if his current offer were rejected, Musk said, "there is." He declined to elaborate....

A mentally disturbed transgender woman who pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl could be allowed to serve her sentence under house arrest, after the Los Angeles County district attorney refused to prosecute the 26-year-old as an adult for the crime committed shortly before their 18th birthday. Hannah Tubbs's case has sparked anger and confusion in Los Angeles, and raised uncomfortable questions for the famously liberal DA, George Gascon, about how he deals with transgender criminals and young offenders. Tubbs was a boy named James when, on New Year's Eve in 2014, he spotted a 10-year-old girl at a Denny's in Palmdale, California. DALLAS -- Donald Trump Jr. says he’ll be "everywhere" in the 2022 midterm elections, as Republicans aim to win back the majorities in the House and Senate. "I’m going to be very involved," Trump said in an interview with Fox News on Friday, minutes before his speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Dallas, Texas. CPAC DALLAS OPENS AS GOP, SQUARELY IN TRUMP'S GRASP, LOOKS TO FUTURE The eldest son of former President Trump, who enjoys a strong following among many fervent Trump supporters, was very active on the campaign trail last year during his father’s unsuccessful run for re-election.  And Trump Jr. pledged that "you’ll see me everywhere" in the 2022 cycle.  "I look at what’s going on and someone has to push back," he argued as he pointed to the policies being pushed by President Biden and congressional Democrats. "There’s not many people that have sort of the privilege of having a big platform," Trump Jr., who has 6.8 million followers on Twitter, said. "There’s not many people who have a big platform that are actually...
Bill Cosby's 2018 sexual assault conviction may have been overturned on "a legal technicality," claims Janice Baker-Kinney, but "he is not innocent." Baker-Kinney is one of the 60 women who accused the 83-year-old comedian of sexually assaulting them over his decades-long career.  "He'll never be innocent," Baker-Kinney said on "CBS This Morning" Thursday. Cosby walked free Wednesday afternoon after a Pennsylvania Supreme Court overturned his 2018 conviction. The court ruled that Cosby had been denied a fair trial when he was found guilty of drugging and sexually assaulting Andrea Constand in 2004, citing a non-prosecution agreement Cosby made during a 2005 civil suit brought by Constand. As part of the agreement, Cosby was assured he would not face criminal prosecution if he gave a deposition in the civil case. Baker-Kinney testified in the 2018 trial that she met Cosby in 1982 in Reno, Nevada. She said she was 24 when a co-worker invited her to a pizza party the star was hosting, which wound up only including Baker-Kinney, her co-worker and Cosby. She said he offered her quaaludes which...
Prince Harry's hair loss has accelerated since he moved to the United States with wife Meghan last year and will be virtually bald by age 50, a leading UK cosmetic surgeon has claimed. But Dr Asim Shahmalak at Crown Clinic in Manchester says the Duke of Sussex is balding at a slower rate than Prince William and is ten years behind his older brother when it comes to hair loss. Dr Shahmalak said that at age 36, Harry is at the same stage of hair loss as William was when he was 26.  He added: 'The baldness gene is not as strong in Harry but he is still losing his hair quickly. At present most of Harry's hair loss is around the crown area.  'He has a growing bald patch right across his crown and you can also see that his hair is also thinning out towards the front. 'Without treatment, the acceleration we have seen over the last 15 months will only increase over the next year. Harry may never be as bald as his brother William. William has been more affected than...

Former President Donald Trump doesn't appear to actually believe he could be reinstated at the White House this year, CNN journalist Jim Acosta reported on Thursday, citing a knowledgeable source. New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman lit a frenzy of speculation on Tuesday when she tweeted Trump "has been telling a number of people he’s in contact with that he expects he will get reinstated by August," echoing a dubious assertion made by MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell, who has been an ally to the former president in pushing claims of 2020 election fraud. Acosta reported to CNN anchor Erin Burnett that Trump "believes it" and "thinks that there is some chance that he could somehow be reinstated as president, somehow this year." But he went on to talk about a "well-placed source" familiar with conversations Trump has had about the far-flung theory who cast doubt on the notion that the former president is convinced he'll take the Oval Office back from President Joe Biden this year. LIST: TRUMP ENDORSEMENTS FOR 2022 PRIMARIES "I'm told by one source — one well-placed...

Rep. Dan Crenshaw, R-Texas, said he underwent emergency surgery Friday to detach the retina of his left eye and will be unable to see as he recovers. "The surgery went well, but I will be effectively blind for about a month," Crenshaw said in a Twitter statement on Saturday. Crenshaw, a U.S. Navy SEAL veteran, lost his right eye during a deployment in Afghanistan when he was wounded by an improvised explosive device (IED) and wears a patch on that eye. But his left eye also sustained damage in the 2012 blast, and he learned this week that the problems had gotten worse. "This is a terrifying prognosis for someone with one eye, and the nature of the injuries that I sustained in Afghanistan," Crenshaw said. "Anyone who knows the history of my injuries knows that I don’t have a ‘good eye’, but half a good eye. "The blast from 2012 caused a cataract, excessive tissue damage, and extensive damage to my retina," he continued. "It was always a possibility that the effects of the damage to my retina would surface, and it...
(CNN)Republican Rep. Dan Crenshaw announced Saturday that he will be "effectively blind" and "off the grid" for the next few weeks after undergoing emergency surgery Friday on his left eye."I am sorry to inform everyone that I will be pretty much off the grid for the next few weeks," the Texas congressman wrote in a statement, adding that he underwent surgery at Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston to re-attach his retina, which went well but that he "will be effectively blind for about a month."Congress returns to Capitol Hill next week, and Crenshaw said his offices in Washington and Houston will continue to operate while he recovers. On his third deployment as a US Navy SEAL in 2012, Crenshaw lost his right eye after he was hit by an IED blast in Afghanistan. That blast also caused a cataract, excessive tissue damage and extensive damage to his left retina, he said. Crenshaw recovered and ultimately deployed twice more before he was medically retired in 2016.In his statement Saturday, Crenshaw said he noticed some "dark, blurry spots" in...
Yankees: Aaron Boone praises Michael King’s fantastic performance, says he’ll be a ‘real contributor’ By: Andres Chavez April 5, 2021 ShareTweetFlipRedditWhen the New York Yankees needed him the most after a shaky start by Domingo German, Michael King put on the Superman suit and saved the day for the Bombers. Sadly, it didn’t result in a win as the team lost to the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday’s series finale, but the long reliever kept them in the game with a brilliant outing. When everything was said and done, the Yankees’ right-hander, who worked diligently during the offseason to improve the effectiveness of his breaking pitches, spun six scoreless innings, with three strikeouts. King pitched like his last name would indicate, as he proceeded to retire the last 16 Blue Jays he faced. And we are not talking about a mediocre offense. “I was able to lock it in, was able to get ahead of almost everybody, throwing both sinker-cutter for strikes,” said King, per SNY. “Had some pretty good changeups....
WILMINGTON, Del. -- Hunter Biden says he is fully cooperating with the Justice Department's investigation into his business dealings in China and predicted that he will be cleared of any wrongdoing in the probe."I can say this, is I'm cooperating, completely. And I'm absolutely certain, 100% certain, that at the end of the investigation, that I will be cleared of any wrongdoing," Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden, told CBS News in an interview that aired Sunday.Federal investigators have been actively looking into the business dealings of the younger Biden, a person with knowledge of the probe told CNN in December. The investigation is examining multiple financial issues, including whether Hunter Biden and his associates violated tax and money laundering laws in business dealings in foreign countries, principally China, according to two people briefed on the probe.Activity in the investigation had gone covert for a time in 2020 due to Justice Department guidelines prohibiting overt actions that could affect an election, according to one of the people with knowledge of the probe, but the investigation entered a new...
