Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur (Photo by Mike Mulholland/Getty Images) These three NFL coaches did not do themselves any favors in terms of job security in Week 9. The NFL season has entered its ninth week, and the scheduled set of games were not exactly the most enticing. Even so, there were some interesting results, such as the Detroit Lions upsetting the Green Bay Packers and the New York Jets handing the Buffalo Bills their second loss of the season. Much like every week, the head coaches are under the proverbial microscope, especially those who are having difficulties picking up wins. Here are three head coaches who should be on the hot seat after Week 9.3. Matt LaFleur, PackersFor the first time in the Matt LaFleur era in Green Bay, the Packers are not near the top of the NFC North. In fact, they are firmly on the outside looking in alongside the Chicago Bears and Lions, as the Minnesota Vikings sit at 7-1 on the season after Week 9. A York County auto shop and junkyard has been ordered to pay $106,000 in restitution to customers, according to a release by the office of Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro on Monday, Oct. 24. The owner and operator Emeka K. Oguejiofor of  Progress Auto Salvage Inc., located at 964 Rossville Road in Lewisberry, was charged with violating Pennsylvania consumer protection laws. Oguejiofor and his associates "accepted deposits and advance payments for consumers and failed to do the agreed-upon work," the attorney general's office states in the release.  "This junkyard and its owner scammed people out of their hard-earned money by offering rubbish agreements and never delivering the work," said AG Shapiro. Eight customers testified against Oguejiofor and his business during a trial held from Oct. 11-14, according to a statement by Shapiro's office. One consumer testified that they purchased vehicles from Progress Auto Salvage and had arranged for the company to ship the vehicles abroad. Progress Auto Salvage and Oguejiofor took $92,000.00 of the consumer’s money and failed to obtain the paid-for vehicles, as explained in the release. Another...
MY parents never looked happier than in the photograph of them standing outside the Buckingham Palace gates about to meet King George VI. My dad was about to receive a Distinguished Service Medal for the last action he saw in the Second World War — a Royal Naval Commando raid on the Nazi-occupied, heavily fortified island of Elba. 5My parents never looked happier than when they went to meet King George VICredit: Tony Parsons The Royal Naval Commandos lost many men on that raid. It left my father with a torso that was a mass of scar tissue, and shrapnel in his legs that would be there for ever. But did anyone ever look happier than this pair of working class kids off to see the King? Dad is only 20. My mum is a year younger — so not even out of her teens. If you worked remotely in 2021, it's worth making sure you understand your state tax obligations this tax-filing season. Depending on various factors that include your state of residence, how long you worked where you did and, possibly, where your company is located, you may need to file more than one state tax return.  "If you spent a significant time working out of another state in the last year, you very likely will have an income tax liability there," said Jared Walczak, vice president of state projects for the Tax Foundation. 10'000 Hours | Getty Images If you've worked remotely at any point this year, you may want to evaluate what that could mean for your 2021 tax return. Although many states offered a pandemic-related reprieve that generally resulted in no tax-filing obligation for people who worked temporarily in their state, the leniency was for 2020 returns. Now, those compliance breaks are going away. "As emergency orders are lifted, the guidance is changing," said Eileen Sherr, director for tax policy and advocacy with the American Institute of CPAs. "Some states are lifting them now."  More from Personal Finance:Before quitting your job, do these four thingsHere are tips for reining in impulse spendingHow to avoid buying a flood-damaged car Of those who were still doing their jobs remotely in late 2020, about 30% said they were working in a different state than where they had lived and worked pre-pandemic, according to a survey done by the Harris Poll on behalf of the American Institute of CPAs. SACRAMENTO — California Gov. Gavin Newsom and his wife, documentary filmmaker Jennifer Siebel Newsom, reported an income of $1.7 million in 2019, a half-million more than the year before, with most coming from the governor’s wineries, restaurants, hotels and other hospitality businesses. The Newsoms’ vast array of long-held investments, which they put in a blind trust when he took office in 2019, have helped them earn an average of more than $1 million a year since at least 2011. Those earnings have bankrolled an upscale lifestyle that allowed them to purchase a $3.7-million, six-bedroom home just outside of Sacramento in 2018 and pay $288,000 in wages to household employees. On Monday, Newsom allowed reporters to view his 2019 federal and state tax returns, which he filed jointly with his wife, covering his first year as California governor. His 2020 tax returns were not available because, as he did in 2019, the governor filed for an extension with the Internal Revenue Service and he doesn’t expect to file until October, according to Nathan Click, spokesman for Newsom’s political operation. Newsom has...
