The suspect in what police believe was a random shooting in Yakima, Washington, that killed three people is dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said Tuesday.
Yakima Police Chief Matt Murray said officers got a 911 call from a woman who said she lent the suspect her phone. Soon after, officers arrived at the scene, heard shots, and found the suspect, who was later pronounced dead.

Police said the "presumed homicide suspect," is 21-year-old Jarid Haddock. Murray told CNN that the suspect tried to get into an ARCO/ampm convenience store, but the doors were locked.
“He then walked across the street to the Circle K,” Murray told the news outlet. “As he’s walking into the store he pulls out his gun and there are two people getting food and he shoots them.” The suspect reportedly then walked out of the store and shot another person. All three people died.
The woman who called 911 told police he asked to borrow her phone, called his mom, and said, "I killed those people." After the admission, Murray said the suspect told his mother he was going to shoot and kill himself.
After the shooting, the man believed to be Haddock reportedly drove to his mother's house. This was before he made the call. He also reportedly shot into his own car because he had locked the keys inside.
The police chief said there was no conversation between the suspect and the victims, leading his department to believe the shooting was random.
