Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers discussed how the $60 million owed to him in 2023 would affect whichever team he plays for.

Aaron Rodgers will be one of the focal points of the NFL offseason, as he could either play for the Green Bay Packers, be a part of a new team, or retire. Rodgers has yet to make an official decision as to what he wants to do, but there is talk about which teams the Packers would and would not trade the four-time NFL MVP to, and how much they are asking for.

One issue that could affect trade talks is how much money he’s owed in 2023.

During an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show,” Rodgers was asked how much the $60 million he’s owed will affect his decision to return. The Packers quarterback said that if he were to return, his contract would have to be tweaked.

Aaron Rodgers speaks on how $60 million owed will affect his return chances

That will certainly be something worth monitoring.

Last year, the Packers and Rodgers agreed to terms on a three-year, $150.8 million contract extension. In 2023, Rodgers will be owed $59.5 milion in yearly cash, where he is making just $1.2 million in base salary, per Spotrac.

NBC Sports’ Peter King said that his guess for a return to acquire Rodgers would be at least two first-round picks.

This past season, the Packers and Rodgers had to navigate through a young receiving corps with Davante Adams traded, and they narrowly missed out on the playoffs. Now, with the team having an important decision to make in regards to Jordan Love’s fifth-year option, the talk of trading Rodgers has become a possibility.

This past season, Rodgers threw for 3,695 yards, 26 touchdowns and 12 interceptions while completing 64.6-percent of his passes.

The league year doesn’t officially kick in until March 15, so there is plenty of time until the Packers reach a decision regarding Rodgers.
