OAKLAND — Two victims were hospitalized after separate shootings Wednesday afternoon in East Oakland neighborhoods, authorities said.

Shortly before 2 p.m., police dispatchers received a report of a gunshot near the 9800 block of A Street. Officers responded to search the area, but did not find anyone injured.

Minutes later, dispatchers learned of a person suffering from a gunshot wound who walked into a hospital. The person, who was later listed in stable condition, told police the shooting happened near 98th Avenue and International Boulevard.

At 2:23 p.m., officers responded to reports of a second shooting at 29th Avenue and Glascock Street. When officers arrived, they found a man in his 50s who had been shot in the back during an attempted robbery.

After Oakland Fire Department firefighters and first responders provided care, the man was taken to a hospital and later listed in serious but stable condition, police said.

For information leading to the arrest of a suspect, police are offering up to $5,000 in each shooting. Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3426 or Crime Stoppers of Oakland at 510-777-8572.

Alexandria Hit-Run Driver, 26, Charged In Fatal Pedestrian Crash: Police

A 26-year-old woman has been charged in an October crash that left a 40-year-old pedestrian dead, police in Fairfax County said.

Yaraliz Rivera Rosado, of Alexandria, had been wanted on warrants for felony hit-and-run, when she allegedly struck struck Elise Ballard while heading west in a 2017 Infiniti QX60 on Leesburg Pike in Bailey’s Crossroads. on Oct. 26, police said.

Ballard was struck by another vehicle before police arrived. Rescue personnel responded and pronounced her dead at the scene. 

She then drove to a parking lot prior to calling police. Rivera Rosado turned herself into the Adult Detention Center on Friday, Dec. 2. She was held without bond.

Preliminarily, speed and alcohol did not appear to be factors in the crash. The investigation remains active.
