LOVE split Helen Skelton has revealed that she signed up to Strictly so her family could see her smiling again.

The Countryfile presenter, 39, was left shattered when her husband Richie Myler ended their eight-year marriage in April, four months after their third child was born.

Now speaking ahead of tonight’s glittering launch show, Helen said: “I just wanted to do something fun.

“It was a good chance for my family to see me smiling and it's a fun adventure.

“Anybody who's had anything to do with Strictly will say, the make-up people are the best, the costume people are the best, the set designers are the best, the dancers are the best.

“So why wouldn't you want to do something where everyone is literally at the top of their game and loving what they do?”

Helen is now juggling training with caring for her three children Ernie, seven, Louis, five and baby Elsie.

It means she’s especially keen to enjoy the pampering on offer.

She laughed: “I have three children under seven, a very energetic dog and have lived in a house renovation for the best part of three years, so Strictly-fy me up please.

“It takes me back to my Blue Peter days, it was an all-consuming show where every minute of the day you were doing something for it. You'd get into the office having been away for three weeks and someone had been round to your house to pack your bags to go on your next trip.

“I feel like this will be all consuming as well, but I’ve lived that life before and I naively think I might be ready for it.”

Celebrity pals Dan Walker and Ore Oduba have told Helen she can call them anytime.

And she’s got a little previous dance experience to fall back on.

Helen said: “Ore still talks about what a transformative experience it was in his life, he makes me laugh, all these years on and he is still talking about it! Dan said it was the most fun he had ever had.

“When I was a kid I tap-danced, but that's it.

“Slow, calm, considered and measured dancing is not me.”

And she added of her signature move: “It was the splits for a long time, and then I tore my hamstring and I've never been able to do it since!”

Grambling vs BCU Preview

Grambling (1-2) looks to get back to the .500 mark while Bethune-Cookman (0-2) seeks its first win of the season on Saturday.

The Tigers lost their season opener at Arkansas St. in a 58-3 defeat, but the Tigers bounced back to beat Northwestern State 47-21. Grambling then lost to Jackson State 66-24.

“My biggest takeaway is I think we can play with a lot of people, but can we finish? That’s the question,” Grambling head coach Hue Jackson said about the JSU loss via the Shreveport Times’ Jimmy Watson. “The first half looked like a really good football game. The second half was totally different.”

“I have to find out why that is. In the second half of three games, we’ve been different. My charge as a head coach is to find an answer and I will. But I think our team will compete. We have to understand that the second half is more important than the first half. Once we get that, I think we’ll be fine.”

Bethune-Cookman took its lumps early this season with a 70-13 loss at then No. 16 Miami followed by 33-9 loss to South Carolina State. The Wildcats now face a team they beat 31-14 last year amid a 2-8 season.

Wildcats quarterback Jalon Jones leads the team with 370 yards passing and a touchdown versus three interceptions. Jones also has 114 yards rushing this season.

Dylaan Lee and Darryl Powell Jr. are the go-to receivers for the Wildcats. Lee averages 16 yards per reception, and Powell average 27.8 yards pre catch.

Defensively, Reginald Pearson is a threat up front. He has 1.5 sacks and six tackles this season.

Grambling quarterback Quaterius Hawkins leads the Tigers offense with 461 yards passing and four touchdowns versus two interceptions. Maurice Washington leads the rushing attack with 174 yards and three touchdowns.

Hawkins has go-to receivers in Lyndon Rash and Chance Williams. Rash has two touchdowns and an average of 27.9 yards per reception. Williams averages 23.8 yards per catch.

On defense, Bryan Powell and Xavier Cousar pose  threat in the pass rush for the Tigers. Powell has a sack, a forced fumble, and three tackles this season. Cousar has a sack and four tackles thus far.
