Sen. Ted Cruz lambasted the Biden administration as 'cheese eating surrender monkeys' on Friday for failing to stand up more vigorously to China when a former editor for its state media called for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's plane to be shot down when she visited Taiwan.

He said the White House was making the world less safe.

Pelosi's visit - the first by a House speaker in more than 20 years - has heighted tensions between Washington and Beijing, which launched live fire exercises in the seas around the autonomous island.

It was preceded by calls on social media for Pelosi's plane to shot down if it did not divert from its course.

'The White House press secretary was asked what does the White House think about this and, I kid you, not their answer was: We have no position on that,' he told an audience at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Dallas, Texas.

'Like what the hell is wrong with you?

'I'm no fan of Pelosi.

'But the only answer to an enemy of America threatening to murder the speaker of the House of the United States is that would be an act of war, and the result would be devastating consequences.

'And the weakness and appeasement that comes from these cheese eating surrender monkeys is making America and in the entire world far less safe.'

Last week, Hu Xijin, a former editor-in-chief of the Chinese state-owned Global Times, made incendiary comments on social media.

'The [People's Liberation Army] has the right to forcibly dispel Pelosi’s plane and the US fighter jets, including firing warning shots and making tactical movement of obstruction,' he wrote. 'If ineffective, shoot them down.'

Cruz offered his response during a speech filled with red meat for an enthusiastic conservative audience.

He spoke soon after China raised its own level of rhetoric, sanctioning Pelosi and raising the murder of George Floyd as it sought to ridicule what it said were U.S. efforts to police the world.

Beijing announced it was imposing sanctions on Pelosi on her immediate family in response to her 'vicious' actions.

'Despite China's serious concerns and firm opposition, Pelosi insisted on visiting Taiwan, seriously interfering in China's internal affairs, undermining China's sovereignty and territorial integrity, trampling on the one-China policy, and threatening the peace and stability of the Taiwan Strait,' a foreign ministry spokesperson said in a statement.

A spokesman for the communist government then compared the United States' behavior to the slaying of George Floyd at the hands of cops in Minneapolis.

Hua Chunying wrote: 'We cannot allow the US to take itself as "world policeman" and treat other countries George Floyd whom it can bully and strangle at will.'

It comes as it emerged that the White House summoned Chinese ambassador Qin Gang on Thursday to condemn escalating actions against Taiwan and reiterate that the United States does not want a crisis in the region.

The Biden administration has thrown their support behind Pelosi's trip as a way to promote democracy in Taiwan and have criticized Beijing's 'sabre rattling' and 'unnecessary' military drills.

China ratcheted up its military intimidation of Taiwan yesterday by firing ballistic missiles which flew over the island and landed in Japanese waters

Arizona Representatives React to House Passing the Inflation Reduction Act

Arizona Representatives, including Debbie Lesko (R-AZ-08), Paul Gosar (R-AZ-04), and Andy Biggs (R-AZ-05), all recently released statements slamming the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) as it passed the U.S. House Friday and will move on to President Joe Biden (D).

“President Biden and congressional Democrats are so out of touch with everyday Americans that they just pushed through a massive tax and spending bill that will increase taxes, gasoline prices, and utility rates all while making the lives of Americans worse,” Lesko said. “I won’t do that to the American people and that is why I voted no.”

Lesko stated that the bill would increase taxes by $17 billion on American households making less than $200,000 annually. This fact is backed by the Senate Finance Committee (SFC), which also states that major tax increases will fall on American manufacturers. Lesko further said that because of increased taxes and fees on U.S. oil and gas production, the price of gasoline might continue to rise.

Moreover, Gosar slammed the bill for spending money on the “asinine” Green New Deal, which includes unusual priorities.

“Highlighting the lunacy of this bill, it also includes $370 billion to be doled out to implement asinine “Green New Deal” policies including funding to develop diets that prevent cows from passing gas. Excuse me? Sadly, these are the priorities of the radical leftists in Congress,” said Gosar.

He further said that as inflation remains at a 40-year high, the economy is in a recession, and the border is vulnerable and lacks resources, Democrats have “doubled down” on “fail policies” and big spending.

“I reject more big government and higher taxes and voted no,” concluded Gosar.

Furthermore, Biggs claimed that one of the bill’s most egregious sections was hiring 87,000 armed IRS agents.

“They’re going to go after the American public. They’re going to go after people for political reasons, just like they did under President Obama when Lois Lerner directed IRS agents to go after Conservative organizations. That’s a huge, huge problem in our free society. You should never abuse the power of government, ever, and it makes it even worse when you’re doing it for political purposes against political opponents. That’s what this bill is doing. I voted no, along with all my other Republican colleagues,” Biggs said.

Biggs ultimately called the IRA “misnamed” and a radical spending wish list for Democrats that will ultimately not reduce inflation.

The Penn Wharton Budget Model (PWBM) provided an analysis of the Senate-passed version of the IRA and confirmed what Biggs had said. According to the PWBM, the IRA will have no meaningful effect on inflation over the next decade, potentially only reducing inflation by 0.1 percent in about five years. The IRA would eventually lower government debt by eight percent by 2050, but Gross Domestic Product (GDP) would only increase by 0.1 by the same time.

However, the PWBM does say that the IRA would increase taxes for large businesses, prevent large-income households from evading taxes, and decrease revenue for big pharmaceutical companies. Although, the FSC said corporate tax hikes often get passed on to workers with lower wages and consumers with higher prices.
