Indiana taxpayers could soon see a $200 rebate payment coming into their inboxes under new legislation moving through the Statehouse.

All taxpayers will be eligible for a $200 automatic refund after state lawmakers cut a deal to provide direct relief to residents, directing about $1 billion from the state's surplus toward the rebate payments.

"I am extremely pleased to see the House advance Senate Bill 2 that includes returning a billion dollars back to Hoosier taxpayers in the form of an automatic taxpayer refund," said Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb in a statement. "The contents of this current bill now reflect strong contributions from all corners of the General Assembly and I look forward to signing it as soon as it arrives on my desk.”

Holcomb had originally proposed $225 payments for taxpayers, but some Republican lawmakers argued that some of that money should go toward the state teacher pension fund or address inflation through a utility tax holiday.

The amended Senate Bill 2 represents a deal struck by state lawmakers that will also direct $1 billion toward the teacher pension fund.

The state House and Senate could vote as early as Friday on the economic legislation.

J.J. McCarthy didnt need words to deliver a message to Ohio State fans (Video)

Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy didn’t have to say anything after his team’s dominant win over the arch-rival Ohio State Buckeyes and their fans. He just waved goodbye.

After a dominant performance with three passing touchdowns over Ohio State, one would think Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy would have something to say.

Well, sort of. He didn’t speak. McCarthy simply waved goodbye to the Scarlet and Grey folks of Columbus, and that was kind of tame considering what his teammates did, running a Michigan flag to the center of the field and planting it directly on the turf.

McCarthy has every right to celebrate. Sure, Donovan Edwards hit the dagger button on his final touchdown run that sent Ann Arbor into a frenzy, but the way McCarthy played against the Buckeyes’ defense needs to be commended, and frankly, the passing game of the Wolverines makes them a viable threat to potentially win it all if they hold up.

J.J. McCarthy waved goodbye to the Ohio State fans after another Michigan win

Despite the absence of Blake Corum in the backfield, the Wolverines looked like a team that was still not satisfied. A majority of the pundits chose the Buckeyes, and since 2001, no Michigan squad went into Columbus and won. That has changed, and the pundits are left with their fingers and thumbs in the shape of L’s on their foreheads.

On a more serious note, the job is not complete. The rest of the journey is more difficult as the Wolverines still need to win the Big Ten Championship in order to secure their berth in the College Football playoff; otherwise, it could be a long waiting process to see if they get in or they get passed over for someone else (Alabama).

Nonetheless, J.J. McCarthy played as well as anyone could have against Ohio State, and now, he and his group are on the cusp of making it back to the College Football Final Four. As for the Buckeyes, they could still make it, but a lot would have to fall in their favor, which could have been avoided had they won, but they didn’t.
