Weather | Roasting temperatures to hit inland Bay Area, Central Valley this week

Residents in eastern parts of the Bay Area and the Central Valley will face a moderate heat wave from Monday until Thursday, with temperatures expected to reach the 90s to low 100s.

In the Bay Area, the heat will be most concentrated in the southern and eastern parts of the region, with the even hotter temperatures hitting Contra Costa County. The most severe heat will affect parts of the Central Valley — including Stockton and Modesto.

The National Weather Service suggested on Sunday that residents in affected areas should hydrate, wear light clothing, take frequent breaks if outside and avoid strenuous activities during daytime hours. The agency said that those who are 65 and older, along with infants, are at especially high risk.
