Every so often, many Microsoft Word users come across a file extension called ASD and this is when the doubts come What is an ASD file and how to open it in Word? A little further down you will understand what these files are for and above all how to open them with Word.

What is an ASD file?

Files in .

asd format can only be opened with Microsoft Word. When we activate the automatic recovery function in Word, which many know as auto-recovery, this type of file is created every so often.

Therefore, if something happens while we are writing an important document in Word, the program allows us to recover said work. Let’s pretend that suddenly the power goes out and we are on a desktop computer. We don’t save the last changes we made to the document and we think, Have I lost all my work?

Microsoft Word saves an automatic recovery file from time to time, this is in .asd format and when we reopen Word after closing it like the example I mentioned earlier, it gives us the option to open the recovery file.

However, it is not possible to open it in any situation or in the usual way, which can cause some confusion or other.

How to open an ASD file in Microsoft Word

We already know what an ASD file is, now let’s see how to open it in Word. The first thing we should do is open the program. Once open, we are going to go to the left sidebar and click on “Open”. If the bar does not appear, click on the arrow pointing to the left.

When we do, we will be able to see a large number of files that we can open, obviously they are the last with which we have worked. However, what interests us is at the bottom where we will find a button that says “Recover unsaved documents.”

Once we click on this button, a window opens where we will be able to find all the unsaved documents, generally this folder is called “UsavedFiles” and is located at C: Users username AppData Local Microsoft Office.

Now we are simply going to have to select the file we want to open and that’s it. In this way we will be able to recover the work that we thought was lost and continue where we left it.

Obviously the automatic saving of Word can help us in a huge number of situations. You are already clear about what an ASD file is and how to open it in Microsoft Word. However, if you have any questions, you can leave it in the comment box that you will find a little below.

Share it with your friends!

Kyrgios, 27, won the second set on a tie-break to level the Canadian Open quarter-final in Montreal.

But before the decider got underway, Hurkacz went off for a trip to the gents.

And Kyrgios was not happy with how long it took.

New rules mean players are allowed three minutes in the bathroom - plus an extra two minutes if they want to change their clothes.

The time starts once they step into the room but with some courts a long way from the toilets, the stoppage can add up.

For Hurkacz, he was away for eight minutes and only narrowly avoided a code violation.

And Kyrgios let rip at the umpire in classic fashion.

He bellowed: "We're not f***ing machines bro.

Prime Video pundit Nick Lester chipped in: "Apologies for the language."

But in Kyrgios' next service game, he dropped the point at 40-0 and unleashed again.

He fumed: "No one needs to change f***ing clothes in f***ing 15 degree heat.

"15 f***ing degrees bro."

Lester then added: "Again, apologies for the language."

The chair umpire decided against handing Kyrgios a warning despite the obvious verbal obscenities.

Kyrgios has never been too far away from controversy, including when he demanded a fan be kicked out of the Wimbledon final - accusing her of having "about 700 drinks".

Other meltdowns have included furious racket smashes, abusing umpires, spitting towards fans and even launching chairs.

Kyrgios collapsed in the third set against Hurkacz, losing it 6-1 to the Polish eighth seed.

The hot-headed Wimbledon runner-up has done enough to ensure he is seeded at the upcoming US Open, though.

NICK'S PAIN

And he admitted he was not too upset at his winning streak ending, after winning the double at the Citi Open last week, because he is distracted by his parents being ill back home.

Dad Giorgos, who was courtside throughout his All England Club run, and mum Norlaila are both struggling with poor health at the moment.

Kyrgios - who wrote "Be strong Ma" on a camera lens after beating world No1 Daniil Medvedev - said: "I honestly don't care [about losing the winning streak].

"I've been away from home, away from my mum who is in hospital, away from my dad.

"They're not very well at the moment. So I don't really care about no winning streak.

"I've got two more tournaments [Cincinnati and the US Open] left before I can go home."
